I am aware that you can't divulge the means by which you determine whether or not a poster is genuine, predominantly because if you make that common knowledge then posters will know how to avoid being detected in the future.

but jess (long ongoing eleven weeks abortion threads) threads have now been deleted for being a troll, and I was wondering if, given it's the site users who usually report these things, we could perhaps have a bit more by way of explanation?

e.g. when sassysusan was banned, mn hq confirmed that she had previously posted as washwithcare, and users were able to identify.

There has been some speculation that jess was dizzymare, and I wondered whether this was the case?

Also, these threads have been ongoing for over a month now. How is it that it takes quite this long to determine that someone isn't actually all they seem?

Hetty, Ive just reported a regular poster based primarily on a hunch. so maybe report, just in case.

I've just reported Pinot for accusing MY ds of having pooey fingers. Even if he does have, she has no right to make a comment like that and just run away - see there MNHQ, evidence of her childishness. She'd just paint herself in BB all day, drink wine and offend people whereas I would be my lovely reasonable self, very bum licky polite and would always offer to make everyone a brew. And I make a lovely brew, being from oop North and all that.

HettyKett, we all know someone like that, they aren't trolls, they just like the sound of their own voices.

I suggested closing threads temporarily whilst MNHQ investigates reports of possible trolling, but Helen said that would probably just act as confirmation that there was trolling on the thread - and I imagine closing a thread permanently, even with the 'This thread isn't helping anyone any more' addendum, would meet the same objection.
