Dickens namechange comp: please come and give your nickname an --Oliver-- twist!

HelenMumsnet · 06/02/2012 13:18

Hello. It's Dickens Bicentennial Day tomorrow (7th Feb), and we'd like to mark Charles Dickens' 200th birthday with a special Dickens Namechange competition.

All you need to do to enter is change your Talk nickname in a Dickens-ish way - with a ref to one of his novels or characters, for example - and then post on this thread to give your new name a twirl.

Top marks will go to those whose changes are the funniest, cleverest, Dickens-iest Oliver twist on their current Talk nickname.

There'll be some ("ever so 'umble") prizes for the best namechanges posted between now and midnight tomorrow.

So, off you go! Suffice to say, we have great expectations...

Am excited by the book, by the way- I did my dissertation on Dickens at university. Dickens and religion. It was a very dull dissertation, actuallyGrin

Runner up? Is that French for 'not quite good enough'. I've written a book about Dickens. I'll PM it to all the other Also Rans. It's called 'Yeah Nice Prose But The Man's Was An Arse'.

TecheneezerScrooge · 08/02/2012 20:57

Day late and a dollar short. Bah humbug.

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 08/02/2012 22:29

I am very fond of this incarnation and think i'll keep it a while.

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 08/02/2012 22:30

PickwicKikkiPapers · 09/02/2012 21:19

Just logged back in to discover that I have won! I never win anything, so this is very exciting. Thank you MNHQ!
And I have started reading Great Expectations on my Kindle to counter the shocking lack of Dickens in my life up to now...
