Inbox and PMs- Can we have folders, please?

Dear MNHQ, can you please consider a 'Folder' type thingy (technical term) for managing PMs?

Would really help with sorting my electronic paperwork.

I have thought more.....

At the moment all PMs just pile up chronologically, which involves a whole lot of trawling to find what you are looking for. I'm doing the admin part on the current blanket project so this is something that I'm very aware of and it does add such a lot of time trying to find the right PM from the right MNetter.

I need to keep all the PMs for reference. At present, to find one all you can do is scroll back, and I have hundreds (seems like) to go through. It all feels a bit muddled and chaotic, and other MNetters will have many more PMs to manage I'm sure. I worry that I will miss/overlook/lose something with the PM system the way it currently is.

If when PMs came in, it were possible to file them into folders, e.g. Folder for Wool Donators, Folder for a specific blanket project, the whole system would be much more efficient to use. No question. It would be a more effective way to manage and access PMs. Good bye relentless trawling!

I know the Blanket projects are using the PM system on a huge scale - almost certainly more than was envisaged. On a much smaller scale too though I think folders would be invaluable. Very often you want to keep some messages, so being able to file them for storage and delete the rest would be much more practical.

So what say you MNHQ? Please think about it

Pistey has explained exactly what I'm talking about. At times it feels like I've missed something as during the first stages of a blanket project it is very normal to get between 20 and 30 PMs a day.

And yes, we do think the PM system need a bit of sorting out in a folder-y, easier-to-organise kind of way.

I would like to be able to forward Pms and to reply to all. And reply twice on the same PM.

I would also like a folder option. And possibly an address book thingy.

The ability to organise and store PMs in folders.

A way of searching both Inbox PMs and Sent PMs by name.

The ability to forward PMs.

The ability to send the same PM out to multiple recipients as with email. At the moment one has to cut and paste the message.

A way of creating groups of users to extend the use of multiple PMs - so for example one could PM everyone working on the current blanket project.

Introduce a flagged system, so that within folders important messages stand out instantly.

I also like SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses?s suggestion of contacts within the PM system, like an address book, that could be very handy.

So not too much then?! If we were only able to have two, I'd go for folders and search!!

Is there any chance of working some more technical wizardry and adding access to PM's to the iPhone app? I only ever come on on my phone and often miss PM's for a few days.

I've just sent some PMs connected to the blanket making thread and I had to trawl to find stuff and then I had to cut and paste to send the same PM out. Hours I tell you. Well, maybe not technically hours, but certainly yonks.....

Now I'm going to have to have to regain my strength....
