Hi all,
We've launched Gransnet today. It mimics the Mumsnet format but is for Grandparents, so they can chat about and pool ideas on their grandchildren, hobbies, relationships and anything else they fancy. If you know any Grans please do point them to Gransnet.com. NB any Grans on MN who'd rather hang out here are most welcome to do so and under no obligation to go to Gransnet but if you fancy taking a look, please feel free. (You could always do both Smile)
Any feedback is very welcome here. Txs

Nah - have only had 2 cups of cocoa - can cause trouble in an empty house, on my own!!!

crazynanna · 05/05/2011 23:16

And I can start trouble in an empty house when I'm not even there!Grin

shabbapinkfrog · 06/05/2011 08:58

Crazynana - 'they' have only let me on to Gransnet!! LOL - It seems very well behaved.....full of grown ups and everything.

crazynanna · 06/05/2011 09:08

Shabba how come they let you in...and not me? I have not even been banned from here yet! Well,if it's full of grown ups,I'm out anyway {pulls grandson's finger out of plug socket} Grin

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/05/2011 09:13

It's interesting watching it develop - first thing that signalled it could be different from MN was the request for no swearing (or at least not using the 'f' word), and the number of names with granny/gran/nan in them!

crazynanna · 06/05/2011 09:19

Shabba I got in! It let me finally log on...seems I cannot even spell my own username.

Yes it's very nice....wondering why the text is so big, I am only 47!

teafortwo · 06/05/2011 09:24

My Mum is a yoofful Nanna. I nerrvously e-mailed her Gransnet and she said as a result she got nothing done all morning - she thinks it is FAB!!!!!

shabbapinkfrog · 06/05/2011 09:44

I think Im 54 Grin

Just showed GS Gransnet - his words (he is almost 3) 'Oh Andma, not go on that please, play lego and wrestling with me please!!'

crazynanna · 06/05/2011 09:48

Try a Full Body Slam...the lego windowframe should catapult quite nicely Grin

shabbapinkfrog · 06/05/2011 10:44

xx

teafortwo · 06/05/2011 13:19

shabba - I think you can wear a yoofful Nanna t-shirt too (over-sized of course tight ones are sooo over)!!! My Mum is cooool like you look out for her over there... I think she is hanging out in the photo section...

teafortwo · 06/05/2011 13:32

And - am I the only one who is a bit scared of crazynanna??? Grin Wink

hormonesnomore · 06/05/2011 19:22

I registered but don't think I'll be posting much.

You can't change your username!!! - Justine, why?

And swearing is frowned upon.

crazynanna · 06/05/2011 21:17

teafortwo Scary? Moi?....I am honoured you even think so Grin

crazynanna · 06/05/2011 21:33

hormones definitely down on the swearing over there.

As one poster said with determination over there..it's not big and it's not clever!

usualsuspect · 06/05/2011 21:52

I'm definitely not posting over there

Because it is big and clever Grin

Divawithattitude · 06/05/2011 22:47

no, you have that wrong about the swearing........we are working on encouraging it!!

lavandes · 06/05/2011 22:58

Just registered but couldn't bring myself to fill in the age bit. Why did I do it!!!!!!!!!!!

Divawithattitude · 06/05/2011 22:59

Lie.

usualsuspect · 06/05/2011 23:00

I didn't fill in the age bit

I swore over there Shock

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/05/2011 23:58

It's difficult isn't it, the whole swearing thing. On the one hand, it seems silly/outdated/old fashioned, etc - on the other hand, I'm aware that I'm not a grandparent yet and I'm only over on gransnet trying to bump threads, help get it going, etc.

So my views are not really what matters.

usualsuspect · 07/05/2011 00:06

I am a grandparent though

I won't ever post on there again ..because its not me

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/05/2011 00:22

There are now several posters there commenting about Gransnet being 'more civilised' and glad that there isn't any swearing!

In a way, I think that's a good thing - Gransnet has to establish its own identity and to be there for its own users. If they don't want swearing, then that's how they will steer the site.

usualsuspect · 07/05/2011 00:37

Fair enough

cheesetoastie · 07/05/2011 07:59

How can I make the font bigger? The content looks interesting but my mum would not be happy reading the text at the current size.
