Are you using the mobile version of Mumsnet? How can we improve it?

Hello. We hope you've all had a chance to use the mobile version of MN at m.mumsnet.com/.

We know there has been the odd technical glitch with it - and we're busy sorting those out.

But we reckon it's working pretty well on the whole - so now we'd like to know what we can do to improve it.

Please post here any thoughts you have about features you'd like to see on the mobile version that aren't there at present.

All ideas welcome - we'd love to build up a good picture of what you'd most like to see. (But no promises, mind!)

(For problems with existing features, please continue to post on the other thread.)

Thanks v much, MNHQ

I think it's great. A few things I miss though; the post count, OP being highlighted and the hide button.

Other than that it's miles better than using the standard version on an iPhone. :)

mozette · 17/12/2010 15:08

Make the text of the thread name a bit bigger. Agree with Rockin - much better on an iPhone than the standard version and about OP being highlighted

AitchTwoOh · 17/12/2010 15:10

is it fixed for android now?

TinselinaBumSquash · 17/12/2010 15:10

You could always make my day and create a Blackberry Mumsnet app?

Comon you did one for the Iphone... you like them better than us don't you?

AdamTech · 17/12/2010 15:16

@mozette

Make the text of the thread name a bit bigger.

This isn't a new feature as such; this kind of thing should go in the other thread, just to keep stuff ordered, but the feedback is welcome!

the topics on active convos arent clickable. so means when i go straight to active, like i do on the main site, i then have to click back to the topcs list to be able to start a thread in the right place. whereas if i click on active on here, i can also click the topic bit as wlel.

arrrgh am making no sense i bet

nymphadora · 17/12/2010 16:06

Highlight the Op & hide threads please

nymphadora · 17/12/2010 16:07

Oh & move the bookmark slightly away from report as I click on the wrong one all the time

llareggub · 17/12/2010 16:09

I struggle to find mumsnet mobile unless I can find a thread with a link.

NoahAndTheWhale · 17/12/2010 16:12

When you do advanced search, and click on yesterday or today then it gives the wrong date.

I agree with FairytaleofNewYork that being able to click on topics straight from Active Conversations would be good.

HollyTwat · 17/12/2010 16:13

I do that too. Nearly reported loads of times.

I'd like a refresh button at the bottom of the thread so that when it's moving quickly you can just refresh without going the top of the page

PigeonPie · 17/12/2010 16:13

I agree, a post count would be good (I thought I'd seen one the other day, but when I went back it wasn't there - was I imagining it?).

Otherwise, getting used to it now and I like it.

ethelinaTheBloodyGreatXmasElf · 17/12/2010 16:26

Please can links to other threads go to the mobile version and not the standard site? Also second whoever said about moving the bookmark away from report.

ethelinaTheBloodyGreatXmasElf · 17/12/2010 16:30

How about a generic 'start new thread' icon accessible from any page with a drop-down box to select the topic?

WilfShelf · 17/12/2010 16:32

I only tried it the once on my Android phone. Found it pretty unfriendly though really pleased you have started developing it. The main issue was resizing text I think... Will have another go and give feedback.

C4ro · 17/12/2010 16:37

yy to Hide and show/ highlight the OP post.
Also be nice to have a direct page number to go through- on birth group threads I know where I'm up to so don't want to go page by page.

AdamTech · 20/12/2010 12:36

@llareggub

I struggle to find mumsnet mobile unless I can find a thread with a link.

For this, there's a link (albeit a small, tucked-away one) at the bottom left of the page, which'll take you to the mobile version.

A hide button, and a way to check your PMs from the mobile version would be good.

Flame · 20/12/2010 13:13

I can't log in with android atm.

I am having to post a message and log in that way

Melty · 22/12/2010 08:36

Yes, but its almost impossible to find. I can't find it unless I click on talk first and then its nearly invisible.

The amount of scrolling down you have to do to get to a thread once youve clicked on it is very offputting. All those logos and other features of the site that you have to get past to get down to the actual thread.

Melty · 22/12/2010 08:49

I read my threads in one page because its easier on the PC at home, but thats a nightmare on the mobile site. (pages way too big to load) I tend not to read threads that I have not posted on for that reason, I just use the threads I'm on feature.

Can there be a way to set different preferences for the mobile site?

jumpyjack · 22/12/2010 08:50

"return to top" button?

Or have I missed it?

AnonEnormousStuffedBird · 22/12/2010 09:03

It's Ok, thanks, useful to be able to access. BUT (all constructive criticism of course!):

Where is "Last 15 minutes"?" I love that, use it all the time at home.

Lots of confusing inserted bits here and there, I can't tell what is thread and what is not.

I seem to be scrolling endlessly as well.

But that said, it doesn't freeze/crash and I like that i can still bookmark on it, though not always sure that it picks up my bookmarks when I am back on my Mac (though to be honest, haven't specifically "tested" just felt that hang on, I've been here before a few times)

Highlight the OP would be GREAT.
