Hiding specific posters...again!

Sorry to bring this up again, I know it's been requested many times.

But in the light of the recent upheaval I've seen a few people reiterate that it would be something they'd benefit from so wondered if the stance may have altered at all.

I understand the thing about threads maybe not making total sense without certain posts but surely that's for the individual to cope with, if they have chosen to ignore someone...also I've seen it on a lot of other forums and it seems to work, I'm not sure how.

It isn't so much the odd post here and there on a thread, anyway...that's fine, I can ignore that. But if someone is really prolific and starts many threads per day, it would be such a relief not to see these all the time in Active threads.

I'd be grateful for an update as to whether you might be considering this option, somewhere on the back burner.

but what happens if.......
poster a has hidden poster b...

poster a starts a thread, a few people answer, poster b see's thread title(I presume they would still see thread) and reads replies, but can't see op.
the replies are all not mentioning an important fact from the op, like sn/death/abuse.... so how would poster a know how to reply ??

Example;

You hide me.

You wouldn't be able to see anything I post, or any thread I start.

If I post on a thread your on, well yes, it could be a bit confusing if people are replying to me but you can't see what I'm saying, but that's your tough luck - you wanted me hidden. It works ok on F/B.

so any thread the hidden poster starts would be hidden form the person hiding the OP(phew...) wouldn't it be easier just to hide the thread in the first place?

But what if potential hidden poster starts 5 threads a week and posts all over the place? you have to keep hiding her threads and ignoring her posts.

Easier to block her completely.

I probably wouldn't delete anyone, not permanently...maybe for a week...lol

yeah but, people have to take the good and bad.
I am quite sure there are people who would like to hide me, but surely better if they just told me to shut the fuck up, at least I would know .....hope that makes sense

it was the same when my mother was terrorising me, people said "change your number" but I couldn't. I needed to know where she was. If she was decanting all the vileness into the answering machine, I knew when she was having one of her bilious attacks and it wouldn't be a complete surprise if she turned up on the doorstep
