Isn't it time MN Towers was staffed through the night?

That thread being trolled at the moment is the worst example I've ever seen. Poor woman going through a traumatic experience like that and then logging on to her thread offering support and a lot of piss-taking

Surely this site is big enough to warrant someone monitoring through the night? Hell, I'll do it, I'm often on here till the early hours and it would solve my out-of-school-hours-job problem in a flash.

you are of course more than welcome.

AS i stated last night, had they came and trolled on a more lighthearted thread then they would have beeneither welcomed or given a bit of a bashing. both in the spirit the trollery was intended.

what they did last night was utterly deplorable and i am very pleased to see that many members are as disgusted as i at their behaviour.

It is a shame that they feel the pedantry over whether they are representatives of PH seem to overshadow the right of a woman to seek advice and support on a deeply traumatic event though.

And thanks too, to you, Gigantaur.

Hello ThatBloke, welcome to MN.

BertieBotts · 15/07/2010 18:51

Gig I was reading last night, the post I was referring to might have been on the thread then (I can't remember). So whether it has been deleted or not I don't know.

I caught up with all of this earlier. I hope the OP isnt put off to much by all the crap on her thread.

I saw the thread on the PH forum. Some real twats there but also some who were genuinely concerned by what had happened, eg ThatBloke it seems. Welcome

This kind of inter-forum bashing happens frequently and it can be funny but I think they guys that came over were just juvenile and have a disregard most people by the looks of it.

I agree that we should have a mechanism whereby if a truly distressing issue is happening on the forums OOH we should be able to do something.

Perhaps if a thread is reported by 10 people it automatically gets locked until the content can be reviewed? Or something like that to save 24 hour manning of decks for eg.

Hello,

I'm one of the people that runs PistonHeads for Haymarket and thought it was worth expressing publicly here just how disgusted the vast majority of our members are by the actions of a few.

We've taken against all of those involved that we're able to identify, and the right thinking members (the vast majority of our members) are as aghast as all of you. We might be motoring enthusiasts, but many of us are family men (and women) too.

Incidentally I'm typing this one handed because in my other arm is my four week old daughter. She was born 5 weeks early and has decided to turn into a "proper" newborn in the past 24 hours. She was 4lb 14oz at birth, but is doing really well and just under 6lb now. First child for us, and a long time coming. I'm a very, very proud new dad.

I think I might be back here for a few tips...

Best,

Stuart

Welcome, Stuart, and many congratulations!

Gigantaur · 15/07/2010 20:58

Thank you stuart.

I think i was conversing with Glen/garlik last night and this morning about this.

I am very pleased that you have dealt so robustly with this matter.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter.
You will be made most welcome here.
