Vinted has killed off my Vinted habit

I've bought a lot of clothes through vented over the past year or two - it's been a godsend after my dress size changed and I had to replace a lot of my wardrobe. I've also sold off clothes that no longer fit me or suit me, but I've definitely spent more than I've earned.

And I admit I got a bit addicted to looking for bargains, clothes that I would never be able to afford brand new. If it didn't fit or didn't suit me I could just re-list it, or take it to my local charity shop. The heatwave came, there I was snapping up summer dresses that I could wear for work. And it's always fun getting parcels once or twice a week. But not any more.

My feed is now full of stuff from Australia. Even if I search for something specific, there will be Australian stuff come up. Nothing against Australian clothing - some of it certainly looks great - but I don't want stuff to be shipped to me from the other side of the world. Nor do I want to be shipping my old clothes that distance. There is no way of filtering out listings from overseas. Indeed Vinted seems to be actively bumping Australian listings judging by the proportion of prices ending in odd numbers in my feed. I can't even opt out sending stuff overseas.

I am now rarely logging onto the app, and am thinking of quitting it altogether. Anyone else feel the same way?

Go back to eBay ? I need de-cluttering advice on my watch list for eBay. Got over 400 items in there .. just bidding on a little soft dinosaur for my daughter turning 31 in a week's time ( silly old family joke). But yes, the amount of money I've wasted there is definitely a sizeable chunk..

You can select item in UK only btw

it used to be such a great site, but they somehow made the sizing even worse, the buyer protection fee means nothing (I had to pay postage to return something not even slightly as described) and I also bought a fake on there (Jellycat) but Vinted have let the seller carry on selling the same fakes. Any chat is just with annoying bots. It’s really gone downhill

They are terrible with fakes, I know there’s been many complaints about fakes, they don’t care

Could you explain ( like I’m 5 ) how to select UK only items? Thanks .

To my surprise I sold something to someone in America recently. I’m surprised that they were willing to pay the postage for an item of clothing.

It was a bit annoying as I had to post via Inpost, which I have deliberately switched off on my account, although Vinted did say that I could cancel without consequence if I didn’t want to post it. Bit odd that they still allowed the customer to purchase with a disallowed shipping method, but apparently it’s the only shipping method available to US buyers in Vinted.

I bought something from America recently and Vinted charged the usual £2.29 postage and said they’d pay all customs fees/ taxes! The item came quickly and I was very pleased as it wasn’t something that I could find in the UK. My account is back to showing only items from the UK now though.

@Holidayhooha
Ok so on the app you use the magnifying glass to write whatever you're after . Top left there is a filter button. The seventh filter down that you can use is Item Location. When you click on that , you can choose Default ( no idea what that is), UK only, EU etc. So click on UK only. Carry on with choosing the category, ( Clothing, Home etc), the size you want if clothes, any other filters and Voila! It will give you your search for items in the UK.

I've taken screenshots but now it seems I don't know how to upload pictures on the app here - d'oh! I hope this description will work for you. My husband would say I've spent far too much of my life on eBay but hey -ho, it could have been poker. Good luck.

That’s odd. I don’t know how Vinted can afford to do that! I assumed that purchasing from another country would involve much higher postage.

I haven’t seen anything from abroad come up on my account, but I tend to sell rather than buy

I was an eBay buyer and seller until that got annoying (too much crap; then selling became ridiculous as there were so many mandatory categories to populate and it felt like small sellers were being pushed out of the platform).

At that pointed I switched to Vinted and although a little more expensive as a buyer, I had a great experience. But i feel like Vinted is also now ruined for the reasons pps have given.

Perhaps every five years or so a new platform needs to rise up as the others have become too big and annoying?

Thank you, maybe my addiction is not cured after all !

Got banned on vinted after having over 1k sales for apparently 'selling a fake'. Received a generic bot reply in response to my appeal
I moved to ebay and depop. Probably a blessing because I was spending way too much on vinted. It was very addictive and time consuming.
Ebay is great for selling household items but dead slow for clothes!
Depop is even worse.. people just like your stuff and disappear. Why is it like this?

user593 · 19/08/2026 08:56

I used to use eBay all the time, I’ve been selling on their for 20 years+ but had a bad experience so decided to try Vinted. I barely use eBay now, stuff on Vinted moved so much faster, and I also sold stuff I just couldn’t seem to shift on eBay easily.

Tryingtosleep23 · 19/08/2026 09:07

I've not seen anything from US or Australia. How can you tell? Does it say on the listing?
I am fed up of selling though. I either sell everything quickly, or my items don't even get any views! I don't understand it.

Puppylucky · 19/08/2026 09:13

You can do a proxy filter of foreign sellers through the brands you choose. I just filter out any brands I don't recognise .

For me, it was the pricing e.g. some items were £2.31. I would then click on the item and it would mention currency conversion.
