Vinted has killed off my Vinted habit

I've bought a lot of clothes through vented over the past year or two - it's been a godsend after my dress size changed and I had to replace a lot of my wardrobe. I've also sold off clothes that no longer fit me or suit me, but I've definitely spent more than I've earned.

And I admit I got a bit addicted to looking for bargains, clothes that I would never be able to afford brand new. If it didn't fit or didn't suit me I could just re-list it, or take it to my local charity shop. The heatwave came, there I was snapping up summer dresses that I could wear for work. And it's always fun getting parcels once or twice a week. But not any more.

My feed is now full of stuff from Australia. Even if I search for something specific, there will be Australian stuff come up. Nothing against Australian clothing - some of it certainly looks great - but I don't want stuff to be shipped to me from the other side of the world. Nor do I want to be shipping my old clothes that distance. There is no way of filtering out listings from overseas. Indeed Vinted seems to be actively bumping Australian listings judging by the proportion of prices ending in odd numbers in my feed. I can't even opt out sending stuff overseas.

I am now rarely logging onto the app, and am thinking of quitting it altogether. Anyone else feel the same way?

Having read a lot of bad stuff on the Reddit subs, threadt of violence increasing over low priced items, the amount of scams on there, the low ball CF offers.

It's really not worth it all.

I deleted the app quite a few months ago because of the sizing. Shame, but it was so frustrating.

I'm getting a bit annoyed with all the American and Australian stuff. Their sizing is completely different. I can't see a way to filter it

I prefer eBay. On Vinted you just get bombarded with cheeky fuckers sending low ball offers, and there’s no way to remove the offer button.

If the seller is not in the UK, it states- near the top of the details- that the price is converted to local currency, so you can tell which ones are advertised from abroad.

They grouped the sizing, you can no longer search for size 12, for example, only size 12-14. Whereas most women know what size they are. So now you have to search through double the amount of stuff for your size.

You used to be able to click a box just for the size you wanted and get results in that size. Now you have to click on two sizes 8/10, 12/14 and so on. And many times I still get shown clothes in five or size different sizes, despite clicking the correct size box.

It was allowing buyers to steal by siding with them on false issues, letting them keep goods and not pay for them.

They changed it from each UK size being assigned a letter (so a size 12 was L, a 14 was XL etc) to two sizes being represented by one letter. M is now 12-14 and L is 16-18. So you have to trawl through sizes you don’t want and many of the sellers don’t say whether it’s a 12 or a 14 and you have to ask. Or if you’re me, just not bother. If you’re a 10-12 or a 14-16 you have to look through two different size ranges with even more stuff that’s irrelevant. It doesn’t make any sense.

Yes there is no automated way to filter by uk, they have set up a lane with the USA, which means those sellers now appear, it’s a ballache,

I don’t mind about the sizing, but I now have to click on the sellers profile to check location.

im also annoyed by their refund policy, I’d a seller with no reviews, I was stupid enough to buy from them, there was clearly some scam in place where it wasn’t dropped at the Evri locker like they said, the seller never returned and wasn’t banned, but I had to wait 5 working weeks after the due date, so nearly fwo months all in before they refunded me, even though Evri confirmed it was lost, felt like a piss take.

i now won’t buy from anyone with no reviews, which is a shame as every one needs to start somewhere, but im not getting involved again.

My feed is FULL of Australian and American listings that I will never buy as I think it’s bad for the environment. I’ve had buyers from there purchase my £3/£4 items and Vinted expects me to use a shipping option that I haven’t selected and send this stuff half way around the world. As if Australia and America don’t already have plenty of clothing already!!! I just cancel the orders,
I don’t care if I get shit feedback for it.
I’m the same OP, it’s put me right off buying as it’s too much hard work to find UK based sellers now.

I looked at it when it first started.
Couldn't believe the scummy, un-ironed offerings. Never went back.

My feed is also now wall to wall Australian brands. Country Road, and Sass and Bide. Plus loads I’ve never heard of. Happened literally overnight. So apparently what’s happened is they’ve done a huge push with Aus. What they do is gather up all the Aussie transactions and put them all in one massive container and bung that on a flight once a week. As long as the item isn’t worth more than (I think) £108 or some random figure there are no customs or duty charges under a UK/Aus trade deal. So vintes think it’s worth it for the hit. Then they just charge you the normal Uk mail fees. I’ve bought one super cheap but nice looking top out of curioisity to see how long it takes to reach me. Prob quicker than coming from eg the other side of my own city. but it also means the algo will carry on bombarding me with Aussie crapola.

Some of the Australian stuff looks ok, but I don't want second hand clothes shipped from the other side of the world. That cancels out the environmental benefit of buying second hand.

To my surprise I sold something to someone in America recently. I’m surprised that they were willing to pay the postage for an item of clothing.

It was a bit annoying as I had to post via Inpost, which I have deliberately switched off on my account, although Vinted did say that I could cancel without consequence if I didn’t want to post it. Bit odd that they still allowed the customer to purchase with a disallowed shipping method, but apparently it’s the only shipping method available to US buyers in Vinted.

My feed is full of Australian and US sellers as well. I did try to use the Vinted help centre but they only gave me suggestions that I already knew. It said to try to look at less Australians sellers and to look at more UK sellers. It is easier said than done when it doesn't always show the converted prices and then I am clicking on the seller profiles to see whether they are UK based. It has stopped me using it as much now.

I’ve just had someone from Australia buy a two pack M&S navy school skirts for £2 what the hell….it has to travel all the way over to the other side of the world 🙈 I also bought something that I did not realise was from us and it took abojt 2 weeks to arrive was annoyed as if I’d known I wouldn’t have bought it

Most sellers now display the garment labels, so you can check the size properly, which is useful.

I'm seeing an awful lot of AI models, instead of the real garment, which is off-putting.

I like the algorithm and favourite a lot of stuff I like, even if it's too expensive, to give it more input and always get good suggestions. It also suggests good books, but every now and then it goes through funny phases, like the time it thought I was a witch, or when it thought I was sporty

I gave up when I listed some trousers for £1.25 and someone haggled down to £1 then complained they didn’t fit (sizes all explained in listing complete with measurements and photos of labels) The pickiness and entitlement of buyers is out of control.

and the. The sellers who sell dirty clothes. wtf is that about?
