If so, what car seat do you have? DH is desperate for an Audi TT, but I am not so sure DS will fit happily in the back.

I've got an SLK 320 which we love but it's going to have to go, unless one of you can tell me how I can fasten bikes onto it

twink don't they have a rack thing that goes on the back?

hula did you commute from sheffield in your smart car? if so how was the drive DH would like one but not sure about it on the m1

Katzguk - I choose to take the Smart from Sheffield to Derby every day to work (worked at different school when first got it). Took it on M1 and then A38 (very fast rood BTW!) there and back daily and it was great. We had the Smart Passion which at the time was the top model. It had automatic and the semi-autonamtic seetings. In rush hour the automatic was brilliant. Car is set to not go about a certain limit, something like 85MPH but easily reached that and cruised aliong happily in any lane. Doesn't have great acceleration but as it is so light it coped well. Had air con too so great for hot weather. It was a great car, and probably the only car we have ever been sad about selling on. Dh loved as much as I did and we used to fight over who was takig it - I won

Oh and the kids at both my schools loved it too and it had great street cred amongst them.

thanks, very useful to know, if we ever have any money he can have one!!

Hula weren't you worried about how you would come off in a crash with another car? I always think that those smart cars look great for town where you don't go fast but I wouldn't like to take one on an mway or fast road

No, to be honest it did feel very safeand for it's size it is. It has loads of air cushions iside alla round you. Yes, if you hit high speed, as with any car that isn't a big range rover or massive 4 wheel drive, you'd have problems but to be honest it wasn'r a concern at the time at all. I never thought of it as unsafe. However I did first start driving in an old Micra (F reg) and that fekt very unsafe on the motorway.
