In my dating days, I used them very conscientiously. Always had a couple with me on a night out - sometimes helped friends who found themselves 'unprepared' as well. Some called me their 'girl guide' - always prepared! No guy was going to get in me unless he put one on first.

Yorkieboy · 02/11/2022 07:45

We use them occasionally, more for an ease of clean up over them being contraception as the wife is on the pill.

Sometimes if its out and about or just a quickie then I will put one on to avoid any mess or spillages!

I always carry 2 with me just in case we need them

Sparkybloke · 02/11/2022 08:11

I would use them with any new partner. STIs are on the rise especially in the over 40's. Once we'd both had clear sti tests I'd prefer not to thereafter.

Coffeeandcake15 · 02/11/2022 09:19

Everyone should with a casual or new partner. It’s not worth the risk of STD’s and unplanned pregnancies.

cookiecreammmpie · 02/11/2022 11:07

I didn't always use them when I was younger and that's how I picked up an STD and had a baby with a guy I slept with one time.
Don't use them now as I'm married and sterilised.

100% this ^^

RabbitSocks · 03/11/2022 20:00

Yep, I do. Not on hormonal contraceptives and would always with a ONS

B1rd · 03/11/2022 20:27

Always to begin with.

PinotPony · 03/11/2022 22:32

Not with DP but I do use them with other partners. Also insist on sharing STI test results beforehand.

Samantha87 · 04/11/2022 08:25

I hate them. I hate the taste and texture and love the feeling when a guy cums in me. I have the coil fitted and have been very very lucky with sti's. Only used them if the guy insisted. I'm in a long term relationship now so definitely don't use them.

GentlemanJay · 04/11/2022 11:01

I wouldn't have sex without one. Even if the lady said "you don't need that".

I'm not in exclusive relationships though.

baskingclerk · 05/11/2022 11:10

We do and we are married (M&F) in our 60s and been together for 30 years. It might seem odd but I (the man) slightly prefer the sensation with them if the fit is right (baggy at the top end and tighter lower down). We originally used them 100% for contraception (no failures). My wife also has a slight preference for them because of the avoidance of mess and she has previously got thrush which she thinks is caused by sperm. Without them, I think her apetite for sex could be lower (we are 1 to 2 times a week). As we have got older the lube on the condom also makes for a smooth and comfy ride for both of us. We do sometimes have sex without - either because the mood takes off quickly - or we have forgotten to pack them on nights away or holidays. We Pasante in bulk - not too expensive.

Namechangeforthisonly10 · 05/11/2022 17:30

Ughh...hate them. Fortunately married but I love the feeling of him exploding inside me and feeling it. Yes get the goo isnt but I just love getting a feel of how much he has cum as well

Longsight2019 · 05/11/2022 18:54

Married and never use them. Used withdrawal for years between planned children and now recently had a vasectomy. I’ve always hated them from being a teenager. The proverbial passion killer.

lauraUK1000 · 05/11/2022 23:18

We are married and haven't used them as our main form of contraception for years. Occasionally we will use one if we do not want any mess like staying over with friends or something. My husband does like to wear a condom often when he masturbates as he says he likes the feeling and also not having to clean up his cum.

malmack · 06/11/2022 09:41

Married and use them. My wife isn’t on the pill and a vasectomy isn’t an option since we will probably try for another child at some point.

Would love not to have to use them though so I’m looking forward to when we’re ready for that!

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 06/11/2022 20:29

Married and use them. Have only ever been together but I can't take hormones and vasectomy / sterilisation isn't an option

whattodoabc · 19/11/2022 10:46

I am 53 and about to enter into a sexual relationship after many many many years . We have spent a lot of time together and it’s been amazing but this is next step . I recently came of hormonal contraceptives which I had been using for peri menopause and have not had a period in 8 years thanks to them . I am off them 6 months now but have asked my partner to use a condom as I’m terrified I will get pregnant . How many years post hormone contraception and no period is advised? I’m thinking 2 years ?

neither of us have had sex in over 15 years .

StarlightLady · 19/11/2022 12:13

In my 40s, I won't have sex without a condom.

Estherpologist · 20/11/2022 06:41

I'm with a new partner and wouldn't dream of not using them. Sex would be more spontaneous and better without them but between STIs and unwanted pregnancy, why wouldn't you?

Kidznurse · 13/12/2025 20:20

DH hates them and says it’s like jumping into the bath with his socks on lol. However I prefer the no mopping up afterwards.

So you make him wear the rubber? At least tell me it's ultra thin or something similar 😆

I prefer him to use thicker ones that won’t split and makes it last longer.

Smithey588 · 15/12/2025 21:24

I have very rarely used them.

never had a ONS and always get STI tested with any new partner.

I also have retrograde ejaculation so don’t need to worry about any mess or unplanned pregnancies.

SUPerSaver721 · 20/12/2025 17:02

I prefer not to use condoms. I have the coil in and love the feeling of a man cuming inside me.
