Sex toys, double standard

I've read a couple of threads lately where the overwhelming opinion seemed to be that strokers/male masturbation sleeves/vagina simulators...what ever they are called - things that people with a penis use to stick their dicks in to masterbate with are crude, misogynistic, creepy but vibrators and dildos for people with a vagina are good. Straight men using dildos to pleasure themselves is also considered all kinds of bad but women can use what they want. Is there a double standard here?

If you've found this page in your search of the best sex toys that can help you achieve orgasm and have been recommended by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best sex toys for women useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

@Snoozysnoozy

not everything in life is "equal", and nor need it be.

What do you mean by this?

I mean exactly that. It can "mean" myriad different things in different situations.

Man says he doesn't get enough? Pressure! Pest! LTB!
Woman says she doesn't get enough? LTB! Find someone who can fulfill you.

Same with sex toys. Seems to be utterly ok on here (which it is) for woman to furkle away but when a man does it, grim/disrespectful/LTB!

Never used on but frankly a fleshlight that's for function only would not be conducive to the moment.

Well, I got told that it was double standards when I got a Lelo Wand for Christmas and Santa refused to deliver a Lolita Real Feel Positionable Thunderspunk Schoolgirl Doll with Authentic Texture Vacuum Anus, Rotating Vajay-jay and Heated Mouth.

Honestly, the feminazis have taken over.

Just go to Lovehoney and have a browse.

Lovehoney are not the only retailer of sex toys, have a look at Loveoutlet, half their vibrators are replica cocks whereas pretty much all their dildos are clearly designed to look and feel like a cock.

There are many retailers of sex toys that prove my point, including Loveoutlet.

On Loveoutlet, click on the men's sex toys category and it looks like the aftermath of a massacre. The female midriff without legs or torso is probably top of the macabre pile. It doesn't surprise me that people find this gross.

Yes there are a some toys in the general section that look like body parts. Most of them could be used by men too. Perhaps that's the reason.

@oldwhyno

I don't think men are criticised for having the same sexual appetite, or wanting or acheiving the same kind of pleasure as women. But typical men (not those with disability or special medical situations) really don't need anything more than their hand, and if they lack imagination, their phone.
Men are simple beings, aren't they? Ejaculation=Orgasm Wink

OH said the same thing to me, the only sex toys for men that are acceptable seem to be ones that can be used during partner sex like cock rings, or sexually neutral things like feathers, nipple things, floggers, blindfolds, handcuffs etc. He also is a bit wistful that I have some really beautiful glass things, clearly aimed at women eg flower suspended glass benwa balls and there doesn’t seem to be the equivalent designs for men.

Masturbation aids - the comments that all men need to wank is a hand - same for women, surely? But we use toys that make the experience better, like vibes, dildos, womanizers. Why can’t men? Does it make the slightest difference to anyone else’s fun?

It’s the same for lingerie. Women can easily find things that are sexy, or classy, fetish, silly, jokey. Men - fetish, jokey. Very rarely do you find the equivalent of Honey Birdette, Coco de Mer for men.
