I was very consensually, enthusiastically fisted for the first time the other evening. It was very pleasant, quite possibly the best orgasm I've ever had.

But, there was a lot of bleeding. I only realised afterwards quite how much blood there was. He was wearing a latex glove so I think the bleeding came from stretching rather than scratching.

Has anyone else had experience of bleeding after fisting? I didn't experience any pain at the time or afterwards. I am going to the GUM clinic tomorrow and will ask them about it.

Loving this thread. I agree with a poster upthread, frankly i cant imagine trying this as i fear it would be all too easy after 3 vaginal births. Surely the challenge is in the arse anyway - the vaginal can stretch way more than that (sorry, my competitive edge there)

Anyway, I went to GUM clinic yesterday. The nurse was unconcerned about the post-fisting bleeding as I wasn't still bleeding and there was no pain. He did tell me off for not having had a smear test in a million years, though. I did the whole sexual health check so there was swabbing of various orifices, weeing in a cup, having blood taken etc.

Turns out I have a UTI, though so I was given antibiotics for that.

Whew, that's way more about my sexual health than any of you needed to know.

I was a bit reluctant to come back after the earlier judgey posts. Especially whoever it was that wondered how on earth I was going to "explain myself" to the nurse. Well, you know, I explained that my partner had fisted me and there had been bleeding and should I be worried? It's a fucking SEXUAL HEALTH clinic. Of course I was going to be straightforward and honest about it.

My friend is a physio therapist of the specific nether regions....

As for technique, as PPs have said, the term fist is a bit misleading. Its not like your partner makes an actual fist and punches you up the chuff. Its a straight fingers with thumb underneath affair.

we had just had sex, but after months of not getting pregnant I'm convinced the fisting played a part

I don't know obviously any more than anyone else what caused the bleeding; but just to point out that fisting can often cause squirting which definitely puddles. Just a small amount of blood in that (otherwise watery) liquid could look like a lot of blood when it isn't.

As for technique, you should find, if you take it slow, that after the pointy fist stage, you can move inside to a clenched fist - it's worth it!

I was just entertaining DH by recounting this thread to him over a coffee outing. He was making me snigger by doing discreet pointy fist handshapes in the queue (yes we are childish). I suggested it could be the Mumsnet Sign/Secret Handshake to recognise fellow MNers (like the MN scarf) and DH helpfully said "what, like a fist bump?"

I learned something new from this thread - that's it's not an actual fist. Wonder why it's called fisting then? And what does the thumb do then?

I suppose you could leave the thumb out, might come in handy for use on the outside.
