New thread for all of us with lovely Y11s to support them and us through the coming weeks.

Thread three!

anyone else edexcel history tomorrow?

UncomfortableSilence · 14/05/2026 17:44

Yes History for us too tomorrow. DD has just been on a Google Meet with a teacher going over final bits. She’s so tired, will be glad to get this week behind us and have a day with no exam.

DD will have her first subject done after tomorrows exam.
Be nice to have one complete.
Good luck all doing exams tomorrow. 🍀

EducaatingRita · 14/05/2026 17:49

Yep History here too, then Latin.. long day

onemorerose · 14/05/2026 17:51

History tomorrow too, any ideas what might come up for last minute revision?

DorotheaDiamond · 14/05/2026 17:52

From a fed up invigilator….if your children are using computers please make sure they know how to save their work, and that they save at the end of EVERY paragraph.

am bored already of getting to the END of exams to discover they haven’t saved at all…it is absolutely their responsibility…if the computer dies and they haven’t saved then tough!

Wow - that's one dedicated teacher!!

yes, history tomorrow here too.

Littletreefrog · 14/05/2026 18:04

Hello all glad I didn't lose you. DS done for this week. He is still at school full time so we have decided he can have tonight off. Back at it tomorrow morning though.

waitingquietly · 14/05/2026 18:07

DS2 is finished for the week - nothing till Chemistry on Monday though that’s not been touched for 2 weeks I don’t think .

He looks so tired … a little concerned his brother has also come home tired ( for no good reason ) and with a headache … I flipping hope they aren’t coming down with something .

Good luck to the history kids tomorrow - are there any others ?

ItsPickleRick · 14/05/2026 18:08

Thanks for the new thread!

ExamExamExam · 14/05/2026 18:12

Just checking in - no exams here tomorrow thankfully.

Stowickthevast · 14/05/2026 18:12

Thanks for the new thread @UncomfortableSilence

DD has finished 3 now - Art, Drama and German - 7 more to go!

She's feeling quite stressed about History tomorrow. but at least this time next week she'll be about to relax a bit.

Tebheag · 14/05/2026 18:13

@EducaatingRita Electronics.
Two more RE and English lit will be done by end of next week.

Strange to see subjects ending.

Ifonlyoneday · 14/05/2026 18:14

Edexcel Maths higher done here. Both DTs aiming for a 7/8 and they said the paper was ok. They couldn’t do the grade 9 circle theorems (last question) and one messed up on the histogram question.

we have history tomorrow but it’s eduqas one. We have 2 1hr papers on Elizabeth and Weimar Republic. I didn’t do history GCSE (but have toyed with doing it many years later as a mature student for fun) and I’ve loved learning some of the content whilst acting as quiz master.

fabulous article in the telegraph which covers many of the topics mentioned on this thread.

RedRunningRabbit · 14/05/2026 18:33

Good luck for history tomorrow. We’re done for the week. Chemistry revision tomorrow which I can already tell will be a struggle.

Ifeeltheneedtheneedforcoffee · 14/05/2026 18:48

Thanks for the new thread.
A break tomorrow (in school) as no history so ready for chemistry on Monday
Ds was positive about maths but its his strongest subject. His class has some very strong mathematicians so "everyone" saying it went well isnt a fair comparison.
Trying to work out how to build in some down time over the weekend as its only the first week!

beasmithwentworth · 14/05/2026 18:50

Thanks for the new thread @UncomfortableSilence.

Yes history tomorrow (medicine) .. have been asked to test DS on it later which is very rare so I shall be an expert by the end of the night! Good luck to everyone.

Ursulla42 · 14/05/2026 19:00

Thanks to everyone on here for sharing experiences. Break tomorrow for us but beginning of next week pretty brutal then a gentle climb to the half term. Thank god!

3GoldenLamps · 14/05/2026 19:02

checking in

tourdefrance · 14/05/2026 19:14

History tomorrow too - Crime and Punishment

Stowickthevast · 14/05/2026 19:18

we've got medicine too @beasmithwentworth

DD was saying she needed to remember to learn the first world war bit so need to check what she's done that.

LattePatty · 14/05/2026 19:35

EducaatingRita · 14/05/2026 17:49

Snap. First day with 2 exams.

FlyingPandas · 14/05/2026 19:38

DS said iGCSE edexcel maths was good overall but he struggled with the final question, and says most of his school cohort (academic indie so all highly able) did too. He is aiming for a 9 but we'll see what happens.

I have to say the students where I work seem to be taking things in stride so far, I am sure some individuals are tired and struggling but as a cohort they seem to be coming out of exams sounding positive. Just wish they could manage with fewer toilet breaks! I had a room of foundation students this morning and they were generally delightful although most were either asleep or staring into space with 15 minutes to go - I'm hoping this meant they'd comfortably finished the paper rather than given up on it.

No more exams for DS until Monday although Monday is chemistry which is (a) an A level choice for him so fairly critical and (b) one he has possibly done not enough revision for. A weekend of chemistry beckons I think...

Sending good wishes to everyone doing History tomorrow!

Imaginingdragonsagain · 14/05/2026 19:43

History tomorrow, been a long week after an awful Biology paper and then two exams today. Then a weekend of slog for Chemistry and English!
