Latin here too tomorrow. She was very drained after maths today as she didn’t sleep well last night so she took the afternoon off today to rest which I fully supported.

But is now in a panic saying she needs to memorise 15 Latin poems before tomorrow afternoon.

We will be limping into half term I think!

TheGodWorm · 14/05/2026 19:50

Edexcel maths iGCSE higher here. DS happy with it. Hoping for a 9. He couldn't get the calculator to work out some x value for a question. Came home and did a Chemistry paper as revision, then gamed, then badminton.
No more exams now until Chemistry on Monday.

postitnot · 14/05/2026 20:09

DD a bit down after maths. She's hoping for a 6 but said it went badly :(
She's been pretty positive about everything else but maths is her worst subject so it was always going to be tough!

fruitypancake · 14/05/2026 20:12

History for DS tomorrow . So hard to find the balance between encouraging revision and allowing gentle rest and down time

childoftkty · 14/05/2026 20:16

History (medicine) here tomorrow. He’s aiming for a 9, I think a 7 is more realistic, so hoping it’s a good paper

TheBeatlesWhoarethey · 14/05/2026 20:17

@UncomfortableSilence thanks for the shiny new thread. These threads are like my emotional crutch through this period 🤣. I’m loving reading about how we’re all doing up and down the country as supporting parents. Makes me feel less alone!

myladyjane · 14/05/2026 20:22

maths was a rollercoaster -dd1 actually said it was ok, she got similar answers to the others (yes they could all be wrong but hopefully not) and she chilled over the really tough ones. Dd2 came out and cried! She thought she’d totally ploughed it and hated the circle theorem q but has calmed down a bit now. It did help when I told her that lots of people seemed to find that tough.

history tomorrow - ‘history around us’.l so short paper. I am having a lovely time going over castles with dd2. Dd1 did her own revision and her boyf is here now.

ForumPoster26 · 14/05/2026 20:35

History ‘around here’ too tomorrow. DD said she needs to revise till 9pm. Seems late but hopefully she can have a bit of chill before bed.
what time do other children revise till?

LattePatty · 14/05/2026 20:39

Son has AQA History (Conflict and Tension the inter war years 1918 - 1939; and Germany 1890 - 1945). And Eduqas Latin - literature.

I presume they are twins? And DD1 is the one that came first?

mum2jakie · 14/05/2026 20:45

No exams tomorrow thankfully!

DD has done quite about 2.5 hours after school today (no study leave) but started earlier than usual so was done by 8 (with some breaks). She often ends up starting too late and revising until 10ish. It's hard to get the balance right but I'm very aware she's nowhere near as prepared for next week's exams as she was for this week and we've had two good and two bad ones so far despite lots of revision. History likely not to be great tmw so she's desperately trying to cram.

Tebheag · 14/05/2026 20:49

I just told DD to go in late tomorrow and persuaded her to leave English till the weekend just concentrate on the exam tomorrow afternoon. They start study leave after half term but she looked knackered. Going to send her to bed at 9.30pm so that's her cut off for study tonight.

Forgot to give an update after DD was upset over bf they had a mature chat last weekend. Said they where going to put exams first and not worry if neither had time to see each other during the week but would both make an effort for an hr or two at the weekend. He just dropped round for a quick hug and to give DD flowers as she was upset about the maths paper.

Callmejudith · 14/05/2026 21:02

I also love this thread, it’s so reassuringly!

History migrants tomorrow - he went off to football having done quite a bit. It’s an a level first choice so fingers crossed

myladyjane · 14/05/2026 21:05

@ForumPoster26 yep. Dd1 is very much the big sister - 6 inches taller, the sporty more social one. Dd2 is my little self professed geek a whole minute younger than her sister

Callmejudith · 14/05/2026 21:07

@Tebheagthats very sweet

BurnoutBee · 14/05/2026 21:11

My sons really enjoying the process but he’s getting a bit tired I can tell. He was a bit flat in the weeks prior but I knew as soon as they started he would have a spring in his step. He thinks he’s done really well for English Lit, business, biology and maths. He’s failing history tomorrow (probably if we go on recent mock results)… but never mind!!! All of his other mocks were very good but he appeared to have gave up on history!

BurnoutBee · 14/05/2026 21:20

@ForumPoster26

9.30pm is our cut off, then into bed. He’s not revising tonight though.

whereonthestair · 14/05/2026 21:53

We also have history, usually DS strongest subject. To be honest he’s less tired than I thought he would be and still cramming. He’s a studied though and after some rubbish in earlier years had learnt to pace.

he’s usually at 6/7 for maths but says he could have done the circle theorem question with more time. He knew how just couldn’t finish as he spent too long on the penultimate question, but generally thought maths was “good”.

I have been impressed with how he’s managed and paced himself.

This is us too, tomorrow. My daughter feels the History syllabus and - having done GCSE and A Level History myself - I agree with her. It’s way too much.
Good luck everyone. After tomorrow we will be 25% through (5 down out of 20.)

beasmithwentworth · 14/05/2026 22:10

I have just spent the last 40 minutes immersed in medieval, renaissance and industrial medicine. I feel like I have learnt something! He seems ok on it too but never seems to get stressed. GCSEs with DD 3 years ago was the opposite end of the scale so this is a welcome relief. He’d be delighted with a 6. And so to bed 🛌

DorotheaDiamond · 14/05/2026 17:52

From a fed up invigilator….if your children are using computers please make sure they know how to save their work, and that they save at the end of EVERY paragraph.

am bored already of getting to the END of exams to discover they haven’t saved at all…it is absolutely their responsibility…if the computer dies and they haven’t saved then tough!

Tell your exams manager to get better software that autosaves! The last thing a student needs to be doing is worrying about saving work

AGlessandahalf · 14/05/2026 22:18

Good luck for tomorrow everyone

BringBackTheLight · 14/05/2026 22:20

Mine said math and German went ok today, math better than German apparently. History tomorrow 🤞(aqa)

applecrumblespider · 14/05/2026 22:27

Edexcel higher maths is the first exam that has gone badly for DD. She had a lot of questions she told me about that she found hard, thought she dropped marks etc. Thinks maybe a 7 - she's predicted an 8 and is doing it for A level. What was worse is that all the friends she asked at school thought it was fine. Lots of reassurance and she was OK. Fingers crossed the other maths ones go better or it's going to be an anxious wait for the results. She's worked conscientiously since Y10 to get her prediction up from a 7 to a solid 8 attending maths clinic every week so it'll be a kicker if she doesn't get the 8 now.

Latin tomorrow.
