Hello!
(Groovylady here!)
Thanks for the new thread @QueenMabby 💐
English lit will be over in the next few mins...😬

SuperTrooper14 · 20/05/2025 11:43

Thanks @QueenMabby! Just had a text from DD saying Eng Lit has finished but no follow up on how it went... 😬

TravellingSpoon · 20/05/2025 11:45

DD said it was okay, which worries me a little because she was gushing about the first one.

achangeofnameisasgoodasarest · 20/05/2025 11:45

Thanks @QueenMabby - hope englit has been a triumph for all

Tiswa · 20/05/2025 11:58

Mine is home says was better than first and ok. Liked that exposure was the poem as her favourite but spent longer on that so unseen was rushed!

Whoooo · 20/05/2025 12:02

I won't hear from dd until she gets home

babystarsandmoon · 20/05/2025 12:02

DD said English Lit was perfect. She said she got the poem she wanted and the one she had revised the most and I am so pleased for her. I’m sure it’s a real confidence boost when they feel they do well.

On to Child Development this afternoon where she is on track to get a 9.

Whoooo · 20/05/2025 12:04

If any of your more talkative dc did edexcel J&H novel and L&R poetry I'd love to know what the questions were!
😁

CakeFace1234 · 20/05/2025 12:14

Posted on the wrong thread. DS sent a short text to say Inspector Calls question went well and linked poetry to Remains. Seems happy with how it all went.

ZombieVom · 20/05/2025 12:14

We’ve heard AIC was either “power” or Sheila and Gerald’s relationship. C&P was exposure, theme of conflict.
Hopefully nothing too left field for them there….esp after the curve ball of Romeo & Juliet for us!
Unseen poem apparently about a table and extremely boring!

Quick break then Classics for us. Long day!

Littleduckses · 20/05/2025 12:16

DC just out of Eng lit-said it was ‘kind of okay’. Apparently there was a question about Power that they did. All I managed to get out of them as they were on a bus and I was struggling to hear!!

strawlight · 20/05/2025 12:23

Inspector calls question was great, apparently. Poetry not what she wanted but managed to link it to one she knew well. She’ll be relieved it’s done FOREVER!!

4 more exams this week then I think we’re just over half way.

Greenkindness · 20/05/2025 12:30

Thanks for the updates about the Qs for AIC and the power and conflict poetry. DS still at school with Comp Sci this pm. Can’t stop thinking about him

GCSEnerves · 20/05/2025 12:30

Eng Lit is DSs worst subject. We largely wrote it off and did very little revision for it in order to concentrate on other subjects. It was a tactical decision and I hope we don’t regret it!

SuperTrooper14 · 20/05/2025 12:34

Just had an update on English Lit: "Alright I think." That's pretty positive for DD! She was confident on AIC but less so on the poetry.

"Tactical"
I like that!
I think most dc end up doing that for at least one subject...
Older dd it was PE and physics

CakeFace1234 · 20/05/2025 13:32

French for us!

Tiswa · 20/05/2025 13:34

Half RS and Spanish for us!

Oblomov25 · 20/05/2025 13:34

Thanks @QueenMabbyOp for always creating our threads so brilliantly. I didn't actually expect you to use my suggested wording!

strawlight · 20/05/2025 13:39

CakeFace1234 · 20/05/2025 13:32

French for us!

French for us too. It’s the only one she wanted to do foundation on as isn’t fussed about a high grade. Her teacher persuaded her to do higher so now she’s hoping to sneak a 6, solely to make the extra effort worthwhile.

BreakfastClub80 · 20/05/2025 13:47

French for us too! That’s tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Glad English Lit was ok today.

Oblomov25 · 20/05/2025 14:08

Blimey, of all the things to write re AIC, power I would find hard.

I too like this thread, the spectrum of how different parents and children actually are, how we all have to parent the child we have differently, reminds me and keeps me grounded. Ds2 is a very content child, but so laid-back, I am still geeing him up subtly, I'm not sure it is working.

I fear he will find the 1/2 term week hard and not do that much studying. His school is the nearest, a good one, I don't think they pressurise them that much compared to what some other posters have written, but even if they did ds2 just seems oblivious. Ds1 told him to cut the crap and step up his game, but I fear that sibling advice was ignored aswell.

CocoPlum · 20/05/2025 14:09

DD said it was good but noticeably less enthusiastic than last week's good exams. I think like many of your DC she is knackered now. Last week was fine but doing this week is a LOT. I'm glad it's half term next week - I know she'll be locked in and working hard but at least she can sleep a little later and not do school in between!

strawlight · 20/05/2025 14:15

Does anyone know what today’s AQA poem was, please?

My daughter reeled off a list in order of preference last night, and after the exam has only said it’s not one of the ones she really wanted but she managed to link it to Bayonet Charge (?)
