DS liked AQA Physics higher triple - said quite a few of his favourite subject areas came up.

He must be feeling good as he let me take his photo, last time in this uniform, when we got home Smile

I have tried to take a photo of DS in uniform for the last time. He, of course, said no.

Same here Grin

gingercat02 · 14/06/2024 16:27

I never thought of a final uniform day. I have first and last for first school and middle school and a first for high school. I'm a bit sad now. Hopefully staying at school for 6th Form, but no uniform.
Geography and Physics were all good, and he sounded very relieved.
He is much more excited about his NI number arriving in the post.

Curlyshabtree · 14/06/2024 16:32

That’s us done! Last exam this afternoon and school’s out.
They have headed into town with their wonderfully designed shirts all signed.
Wishing everyone and their DCs a relaxing summer and try not to think about results day!

GlomOfNit · 14/06/2024 16:32

DS is back and happy to be done with it all! (until A Levels...) He said AQA Physics 2 was fine and was happy that there wasn't too much on electromagnetism. He said Geog 3 was predictably tame and fine too. So he is done! I left a snazzy Star Wars tie on his desk today (his 6th form doesn't have a uniform as such but they're really old fashioned in terms of dress code). And a large jar of sherbet lemons. Grin

anoukis · 14/06/2024 16:35

DD came home happy after Physics AQA triple. She's already off to a friend's house as they need to buy a last minute present for the girl whose birthday is tonight.

Wow, provisional licence and NI number... it all sounds so mature. DD is August-born, not even 16 yet. When does the NI number arrive? I don't think we need to apply for it? We did apply for the provisional licence due to peer pressure; all her friends have it now 😀

I don't know what to do with myself tonight, I should've made plans 😬

Lalux · 14/06/2024 16:40

DS happy with Geography (OCR) and Physics (Edexcel). He is the same as others staying for 6th form but business attire (suit) no uniform. He's also August born and his NI number arrived recently. I didn't realise you could already register for a provisional license.

Zubomama · 14/06/2024 16:42

DS very unhappy with Paper 2 Aqua Triple physics despite going in confident. So is very down. Not an A-level choice but he doesn’t get why he found so many questions so hard. Shame to end on a downer but he is done!

MiniMidiMaxi · 14/06/2024 17:00

Still got Further Maths to go here, but DS seems fairly demob happy anyway. Very happy with geography AQA, reasonably happy with physics triple AQA. Now completing Euro predictions ready for a get together with some friends tonight.

newmum1976 · 14/06/2024 16:15

My DD found it hard too. 😭

That will explain DS not wanting to talk about it even changed subject saying I could take a last photo of him in his uniform before rushing of to the Gym.

AIstolemylunch · 14/06/2024 17:22

Finished here! so nice to be done. So glad it's over. Even got a photo as he arrived home - smiling which is nice to see. Hang in there for those still going into next week!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/06/2024 17:38

Ds still has 2 left next week but has hopped on the train to go and play badminton with a friend this afternoon. Think they’re getting fish and chips afterwards!

Wednesday still feels like a long way off! Well done to everyone who’s finished

LighthouseCat · 14/06/2024 17:43

Finished here! I don't think DD can quite believe it. Geography went well she thinks. Physics was hard but she's seems upbeat regardless and is getting ready for a party.

DD is v social. Always has been but my other DD is very much a homebody who does have some lovely friends but rarely hangs out with them outside of 6th form.

hattylou · 14/06/2024 17:58

Ds came out reasonably happy with higher physics and Geography.
2 more to go still next week so another weekend of revision here.

Techno56 · 14/06/2024 18:11

Our school had a power cut just as physics started and then had to wait 30 mins / move rooms to a building that had power (for his laptop) and those in the gym bad to do the exam under emergency lights.

But of a downer, threw him off and he said he doesn't know how it went but he did finish. He didn't spend long checking though or use any extra time as he knew they were doing the shirt signing and didn't want to miss it 😫 What's done is done I suppose. Still music on Monday so feeling very flat!

My dd is thesame. She felt better as she found a whole group of super clever people who also found it hard !

Countrylife2002 · 14/06/2024 18:34

I got a photo - thanks for the reminder! DD promptly burst into tears as she thought she looked awful (she didn’t!). She’s gone with her gang to one of their houses and then SLEEP!

TrixieFatell · 14/06/2024 19:14

I have a house full of happy teens, daughter has had som friends over to celebrate. Physics was meh apparently but she doesn't care.

My eldest said she had a shocker of a biology a level today, it's so hard to see her feeling so down about it. There's so much pressure on them.

Bellini12 · 14/06/2024 19:16

So pleased it is al over for us - with mocks etc it feels like it has gone on forever.

DD has already cleared her room of all her papers etc. I don’t think my recycling bin will have enough space 😁

I don’t think she came out of any exam saying it was “easy” so I admire those students who are so confident!

I don’t think she wants to dissect any of today’s exams so will try and forget about it now until the day of reckoning in August.

All of DS’s friends thought it was easy so that’s made him feel even worse. I’m away so I’ll let him process it and see how he feels tomorrow night when I get back… i think he ll bounce back pretty quickly. I got him an internship next week and that will be the next things he worries and moans about. 😝

My DD did biology a level two years ago and the same happened. As a result the boundaries are pretty low and I’m sure your DD will be ok. Biology is a hard A level to do really well in! Hang in there!

Yeah same with DD’s main group. She was a bit shell shocked as she’s not used to that (lucky her ). I think she’s ok, I took her out for a treat and now she’s with her mates. And physics has absolutely no relevance to what she wants to do in the future, it won’t affect anything . I do remember that feeling though of thinking it’s a hard exam and then no-one else does! Horrible.

Wehaditsogood · 14/06/2024 19:48

I have no idea how the exams went. DS rushed home with a friend to change clothes and he is out celebrating. They allowed me to take a photo. 😄

@anoukis DS's NI number came out of the blue a couple of months before his birthday.

Swingingvvoter · 14/06/2024 19:52

@Techno56 wow that sounds tough!

Dd had been extremely worried about physics but said it had lots of maths which was good because they give you everything all you have to do is do the formula which apparently they also give you.

Geography also good.

Phew, what a slog, I can't believe it to be honest. It's brutal for them and doesn't make sense to me.

Wehaditsogood · 14/06/2024 20:00

On the plus side, DS matured a lot in the past few weeks. He had to.
