was very strange waving dd off this morning.

After 11 years of having 1, 2 or 3 kids heading off to catch a train every morning, this was the very last time. Felt quite emotional.

Dd really looking for a fresh start in sixth form, at a new college and new friends.
I am really hoping that it works for her.

ouch44 · 14/06/2024 13:01

DD is giddy despite still having further maths next week and despite discovering this morning that she hadn’t been taught all the required physics practicals. Thank God for freesciencelessons. I’m guessing that there’s been more phone scrolling going on in her room than revising!!

JessyCarr · 14/06/2024 13:01

@steppemum I think the “lasts” are every bit as poignant as the “firsts” in parenting.

Glittertwins · 14/06/2024 13:13

Just taken one back for the penultimate exam, the other decided to stay at school between exams and then all done for her.

Wehaditsogood · 14/06/2024 13:41

I have tried to take a photo of DS in uniform for the last time. He, of course, said no.

I feel your pain... same response here 😂

JessyCarr · 14/06/2024 13:57

DD will not be allowed to embark on her celebration tea until the “last day in uniform” photo has been taken!

Meetingofminds · 14/06/2024 14:02

It doesn’t feel the last of anything here because thankfully dd will return for sixth form. So ours is a continuation.

Tebheag · 14/06/2024 14:03

Forgot to get a picture of DS in uniform this morning 😢
DS has started drinking very occasionally was 16 last year so one of the older ones. Several have been drinking spriits to point of being out of it. Thankfully DS just likes a couple of ciders. When they had the leavers do meet up lots where getting drunk DS said it was silly as they could have slipped on rocks where they where and been badly hurt. His old primary school mates will come in the house new ones don't they don't even come to the door just ring when nearby.

Lalux · 14/06/2024 14:08

DS very begrudgingly allowed me to take a photo this morning.

anoukis · 14/06/2024 14:21

It didn't even occur to me to take a photo of my DD on her last exam day until I read this thread but she has Add Maths FSMQ on Tuesday so I'll try to take the photo then 😆

Physics 2 AQA higher happening right now. DD went in very confident as she's done quite a lot of revision during may half term and these past two days. She's going to a birthday party tonight and I hope it won't be too wild given most of them had their last exam today.

I'm not relieved yet, as Add Maths is a hard paper. We were even considering dropping it, but DD wants to do Further Maths as a 4th subject at A-levels so she's decided to keep it in the end. Their maths teacher told them to aim for 75+ marks for an A, but I doubt my DD is there... more like B/C. Having said that, she's motivated to do well, so will try and cover some gaps over the next 3 days. I'm grateful for the Bareau videos and mathasaurus, as her school only taught Add Maths as an afterschool 1-hr session each week.

Have a great weekend everyone!

ouch44 · 14/06/2024 15:02

A friend of a friend of DS had a bottle of wine before she got to Prom. Spent most of the night on the floor and ended up in A&E!! My two don’t seem to have much interest in alcohol. Very different to my drunken youth where we used to take a carton of OJ out and half fill it with vodka!

Mumski45 · 14/06/2024 15:17

I'm also waiting for DS2 to finish physics. No celebrations yet as he still has one to go mid next week. He was in a good mood this morning as his provisional driving licence arrived so he feels all grown up. Hopefully he will still be OK after todays exam 🤞🏼

DramaLlamaBangBang · 14/06/2024 15:18

I didn't even think of taking a last day in uniform photo either! I did take one on the last day before half term though.
DS is going out with his mates after physics today to get dinner so our special end of exams family dinner is postponed until tomorrow!

Countrylife2002 · 14/06/2024 15:29

DD said everyone found physics amazing but she found it rubbish so she’s a bit down. But it’s the only one that’s been like this so I think she’s done pretty well!!

DS stays, too. But they will not wear a uniform anymore.

ComingInByAnsible · 14/06/2024 15:43

Very happy boy with AQA geography 3 here. The case study question was pretty much the one the essay he prepared, and yesterday's revision session the school has uncharacteristically offered was very helpful with the field work.

Now onto music for Monday and he has tons of revision to cram in this weekend, if he manages to motivate himself to keep going for this (hopefully) final hurdle.

He is also due to stay at his school for sixth form so no sense of the end of an era here. Most of his friends are staying too.

omnishambles · 14/06/2024 15:51

Chemistry went well apparently. No photos here as they havent been in uniform for a while.

My DD didn't like the physics paper either (AQA triple higher). Not the best end but they're over now Grin

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/06/2024 16:08

DS home and a happy boy, found geography and Physics easy today (both Edexcel Higher). I am so happy because the revision yesterday was awful and I genuinely thought he'd come out miserable. I am so glad it's all over. Good uck the DCs with exams still to do.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/06/2024 16:11

Wehaditsogood · 14/06/2024 15:32

Same here, DS will stay at school but they move to suits with sixth form ties. Most of the school stay on, I don't think he knows anyone leaving.

Popfan · 14/06/2024 16:14

After the previous refusal, I got a photo in the end by bribing him with a McDonalds!!

My DD found it hard too. 😭

DomingoinLittleOakley · 14/06/2024 16:23

He's back - AQA combined Physics was "easy" apparently.

So that's it - no more school. I don't know how I feel about that really.

He and a friend are currently making a mess cooking up chicken and rice in the kitchen, and I think they're off out later for some sort of gathering.
