lol so glad I’m not alone on the bedroom thing. I don’t have a lot to complain about with my girl but tidiness is not a strong point at the best of times. It’s currently nuclear.

Wehaditsogood · 11/06/2024 09:32

I have made the mistake of promising DS a new Ikea wardrobe in the summer. (The current one is just a small one.) He now doesn't even pretend to tidy up, it is all on the floor 😫

DS only has chemistry today. He is still under the weather.

Tebheag · 11/06/2024 10:44

Wishing any kids feeling ill a very very speedy recovery.
DS went it today not feeling great had lemsip capsules and usual hayfeaver stuff. Thankfully only Chemistry today.

Wehaditsogood · 11/06/2024 11:07

Igcse chemistry went well, apparently. DS is now drinking Lemsip. I even put the heater on for him.

How is everyone else doing?

MonkeyTennis34 · 11/06/2024 11:11

Ha! DD's room is like a laboratory...minimalist, always exceptionally tidy. Not sure how this has happened.

DS's room......the polar opposite 😳

MonkeyTennis34 · 11/06/2024 11:12

DD said Chemistry was good "bearing in mind I only revised for it last night"..........

Tiredalwaystired · 11/06/2024 11:22

Edexcel Chem here. Not a happy bunny.

JessyCarr · 11/06/2024 11:22

AQA Higher Combined Chem 2 was “good”. No more details yet.

Waspie · 11/06/2024 11:24

AQA Chemistry triple higher - DS said went well but not as easy as paper 1.

JessyCarr · 11/06/2024 11:26

Sorry to hear that @Tiredalwaystired.

CactusPeach · 11/06/2024 11:34

DD has history and chemistry today, then geography and physics on Friday.

Nearly there 😄

GlomOfNit · 11/06/2024 11:39

Student Room thinks DS's chem paper was ok, too. Here's hoping! He wants to do it at A-level, god knows why. Grin (he likes the natural sciences, he thinks he needs Chemistry to apply for a very esoteric and niche degree at a specific institution. We need to do a LOT of research to see if this is actually worth it.)

He's still under the weather but I'm dosing him with paracetamol and hoping it won't get any worse until after Friday!

BlackBean2023 · 11/06/2024 11:39

No word from DD on chemistry yet. She's probably revising for history!

WarningOfGails · 11/06/2024 11:40

DD is spending today in isolation as she’s got Chem, Further Maths and History… not sure how prepared she was for Chem as she was suddenly cramming at 10pm last night (having been to the gym & had her (only) friend round until 8.30…)

on the social thing, I agree covid made a big difference to this age group. It’s like they don’t even realise you can do things like arrange to see friends! I think some kids seem to be unscathed though, from those I know it seems to be the ones who had very strong friendships already, or those who are much more extroverted. My DD didn’t have any of those protective factors as we had only just moved area before Y7 and the whole thing has knocked her for six socially.

JessyCarr · 11/06/2024 11:49

Chem, FM and History is a heck of a day!

Newlease · 11/06/2024 11:51

AQA higher was good apparently and hoping for a 9. This is coming from someone who argued a lot that chem is not a good Alevel subject for her, and wanted to do some content heavy one- would have been a disaster when it comes to exams as she realised now that she is very slow in writing and impossible for her to finish exams in time other than Science and Maths. Anyway we still have time to decide.
Cough and Cold is going around here as well. DS at home today after being sick yesterday night with coughing. DD is avoiding us like we have plague. I am hoping it would stay clear for another two days for her. Already blames “Maths paper 2 I couldn’t concentrate because I had bad headache, don’t come into my room “ 🤓

@Gazelda and everyone else mentioned bedroom 😭 glad I am not alone. I made her sort few papers during midterm, so she can see through the rest of papers, an IKEA bag full of books/papers past exams are ready to be taken away! And we have a party on Sat, meaning definitely need to do some sort of cleaning ( hide if not enough time to sort ) to be done anyway!! Not looking forward to the arguments..

Newlease · 11/06/2024 11:52

Good Luck to kids going History, DDs friend is going both History and Geography, I am amazed at the amount of people who do that, so much to learn. Impressive 😍

AIstolemylunch · 11/06/2024 12:16

I feel like I should be wearing an 'I survived chemistry GCSE' today, it was DSs most dreaded one, after a 4 in mocks, but apparently it went ok, Edexcel IGCSE Chem paper 2. He has done a reasonable amount of revsion ao fingers crossed. Room also an absolute bombsite. Only one left!

JaninaDuszejko · 11/06/2024 12:27

DD actually sent a message after AQA Higher Single Chemistry. Apparently it was OK, some weird one markers but she got the 6 marker most people struggled with so she thinks she's done OK. History this afternoon is her favourite and she wants a 9 so lets hope it goes as planned.

JaninaDuszejko · 11/06/2024 12:29

Also, in contrast to all the parents struggling with chemistry, I'm a scientist and at work this morning all the GCSE discussion about the chemistry has been 'it's so basic, how can they not understand it' 😂.

Glittertwins · 11/06/2024 12:59

AQA triple higher chemistry was apparently quite a good paper. I will reserve opinions until it's been marked!!!

AIstolemylunch · 11/06/2024 13:03

I think thats a bit unfair, I would get a 9 on GCSE Biology today with no preparation but I did it for A level and a 4 year degree. These things are a consolidation process. I didnt get 100% on Biology at 16. Some of the questions are just fact memorising but some of the mathmatical stuff sounded challenging.

TrixieFatell · 11/06/2024 13:07

AQA higher combined went decent apparently. That's been the worst feedback so far

steppemum · 11/06/2024 13:08

dd hasn't replied about chem.
It is supposed to be her best subject, but because of that, she has done very little chemistry revision.

Her bedroom - I have been in regualrly and helped her tidy. Her mental health starts to spiral when it is a mess, so I have needed to help keep on top of it.
She has plans to sort EVERYTHING out over the summer, change it all round, move clothes - throw things away. We'll see what actually happens!

sockoclock · 11/06/2024 13:14

Waspie · 11/06/2024 11:24

AQA Chemistry triple higher - DS said went well but not as easy as paper 1.

Same here - OK but not as good as paper one. No more chemistry ever which is quite a relief. History this afternoon then another double day with Geog and Physics on Friday. Then - finally - it's all over. Just hoping DS manages not to catch DD's cold...
