Imedia went alright, she was happy enough with what she put. She said after speaking with her friends they all had the same answers for maths so she feels she has done well but is worried she's getting her hopes up for results.

Going to start chemistry and history revision in a bit, anyone else staring to feel mildly hysterical and excited about it almost being over.

My eldest is ill and still has three a levels. 😔

My DS just accused me about being more excited for these exams to be over than he is!! 😂

They are not wrong though. I cant wait to get my evenings back. I've revised more for these then I did my own GCSEs 🤣

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 10/06/2024 15:18

Honestly, I am counting the seconds! 😂 only four more exams to do and hopefully we can all breathe again. Until August....

dinomirror · 10/06/2024 15:20

Ahhh so frustrating Dd missed the translation in Spanish! Luckily she is a grade 9 student so should so well in the other 3 but howww

gingercat02 · 10/06/2024 15:22

@Christ0nABike and @Tebheag good to know I'm not alone with a non language kid.
I'm just glad we're nearly done. I'm blocking results day out of my mind!

DS did a practice maths paper yesterday and missed out a four mark question. I asked him why and he said he just didn’t see it. It wasn’t on a separate page, it was directly under another question. He couldn’t figure out how he didn’t see it either. It’s one of life’s mysteries I think but thank goodness she has probably done well on the other papers, she must be so frustrated!

About 1/3rd of the way down, Table 2.

If you pass lit only there is no Government requirement to resit Lang.
However I guess a school or college could require it themselves, plus you don't know what an employer (or university) might require later.

DS has just said a boy in his class came out after the exam and suddenly realised he hadn't done the translation question. Perhaps it's more common than we realise?

MonkeyTennis34 · 10/06/2024 16:16

DD reports that Maths AQA was the best of the three but not quite as kind as she'd hoped!

Spanish was fine too.

3 exams to go!

Newlittlerescue · 10/06/2024 16:17

A very happy teen here. Maths (Edexcel higher) was good - DS found it harder than papers 1 and 2 but having now seen the answers on TikTok, he thinks he only got a few wrong (mainly vectors and prisms - which he claims he didn't know were in the syllabus...!🤔😄). He followed the technique of looking at the hardest/final question as soon as he opened the paper and leaving his brain to parse it in the background while doing the rest of the paper, which worked.

Latin Lit was also a good paper. Considering he had done very little revision for it, he was very lucky as he said that the paper could have been written for him.

dinomirror · 10/06/2024 16:22

Yes she noticed as she handed in the paper. Spanish isn't really important to her but still a massive blow

Shinyandnew1 · 10/06/2024 16:41

Mine was happy with Edexcel maths-said it was the nicest of the three.

DominoRules · 10/06/2024 16:43

Mine was very happy today as he said Spanish was pretty good - it’s his least favourite subject so glad about that one!

I’ve sent him off to play football with his brother and am cooking a huge cottage pie. The horrible 3 exam day tomorrow which I know he’s a bit worried about so aiming to keep him calm and well fed tonight!

I honestly have found this so much more stressful than I expected 😂 I’m not worried about the actual grades as such, I just really want DS to be happy with how he does and to be proud of himself

I'm the same in regards to grades. She doesn't need anything in particular, though she doesn't want to redo maths or English. I just want her to be proud of what she got and what she achieved. I'm already bursting with pride, really couldn't have asked more from her.

Curlyshabtree · 10/06/2024 17:06

OCR Higher Maths went well though dtd thinks she didn’t quite do enough for a 9. Dts reckons he got a 6 overall and is happy with and the fact he’ll never have to do Maths again!
AQA Spanish writing seems to have gone ok too.

WhereAreWeNow · 10/06/2024 17:09

DD view on Maths and Latin today: "Fine".
I don't know what that means.
She said she couldn't do a few maths questions but she didn't seem too worried about it.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 10/06/2024 17:19

Both exams went well today apparently. The best maths out of the 3. Apparently Spanish was super easy and everyone finished with loads of time to spare. I collected him on my way home from work, and he'd forgotten how to say i think he meant shop assistant in English, and could only remember it in Spanish! It was like having a little Hilaria Baldwin in the car going ' how you say in English- camereiro'?

JaninaDuszejko · 10/06/2024 17:23

Edexcel Higher Maths and Spanish were OK here apparently. Two A level choices tomorrow in Chemistry and History so it's the biggest day of the exams. Then 2½ days to revise for Physics. She's getting tired but she says she's confident in her knowledge for tomorrow and they are her favourite papers.

Socially she's fine, she is very extrovert and seems to make friends very easily. There are regular parties and 'gatherings' at people's houses, they don't go out out though. I get the impression that it's harder for the nice boys, there's a lot on line while gaming but the other option seems to be hanging around in parks vaping, one of my friends says her (lovely) son doesn't socialise at all during the holidays because of that. The ones with girlfriends seem to be absorbed into the girl's groups and socialise with them.

Echobelly · 10/06/2024 17:39

That's DC done with maths! They were happy enough with it but they commented on the last question being difficult. I think they may have slacked slightly with Maths revision as they don't care about it especially so might not get as high a mark as they could have got, but it'll still be good enough so that's fine by me.

After tomorrow they will only have two papers left (on Friday and Monday). I am so looking forward to this being over.

CactusPeach · 10/06/2024 17:54

DD very happy to be done with maths today, she's always struggled with it. I overheard her happily telling her younger brother she never has to do another maths lesson again.

I'm the same regarding grades, I want her to do well enough that she feels proud of herself, she's average academically and not a particularly motivated student, we're looking at 5's mainly but she has so many other strengths including being funny, quick witted and sassy, resilient, level headed in crisis and knowing what needs to be done and just getting on with it.

Socially she has quite a lot of friends and has stayed best friends with the same three throughout secondary despite a drama a few years ago but they seem to socialise mainly online with only the odd going to the shopping centre. I've offered to give her some money to go to Macdonalds with her friends after physics on Friday.

Definitely not alone so glad Spanish is all done. DS said it went OK so presuming more 3 than 2 this time. Unfortunately any language is not his thing will be praying he scrapes a 5 in English.

Yippee 3 more to go Chemistry Physics and Geography. Friday can't come soon enough.

Same here. As long as DS gets the grades to move onto the next level, then that's fine by me. He couldn't really have worked any harder. It's such a long relentless slog.

gingercat02 · 10/06/2024 11:52

Well apparently AQA maths higher went brilliantly, which seems very unlikely, but at least its done now!

@gingercat02 DD said AQA was a good paper too. Then very mournfully said "so the grade boundaries will be higher..."

I suspect we are on final week, so sod it all mode

DS doesn’t finish until June 19th!
