Do the school not remind them again and again and again? Dd said it wouldn't be possible to forget the amount of times the teachers tell them. If the teachers aren't reminding them, they should be!

I've done the exam invigilation training for my job, and it's in there too! He said he forgot then realised when they said to check his pockets, but they still said if he does it again its malpractice, so I don't know if by the time they do the reminding it's too late or whether they were just trying to scare him into remembering.

History tomorrow is the really big one for dd. This is so key for her. I’m keeping everything crossed!’

Yes history is the big one for DS too, as he wants to do it at A Level.

ComingInByAnsible · 14/05/2024 17:27

Day off for DS today after English Lit and Lang on Monday (which he felt went well). Today he's slept in until the afternoon and since then been head down into History revision for tomorrow. Like PPs, history is really important to him as intended for A level and possibly uni. Tomorrow he has his two favourite subjects (Russia and Cold War) but there are massive amounts of contents. I am worried about Thursday's maths as he hasn't done any revision of it since starting study leave. His plan is past papers tomorrow afternoon. Thursday and Friday are two exams each, so not sure those subjects will get much coverage! I've got a streaming cold so keeping well away. Getting ill is the last thing he needs right now!

gingercat02 · 14/05/2024 17:31

Business was "pretty good," which is definitely a step up from OK 👍
History for us tomorrow, too, also an A level option. He did better in his mocks than he was expecting, so 🤞

StarShipControl · 14/05/2024 17:56

Tomorrow's going to be a disaster.
Ds is really stressed about it all now. He's realised he doesn't know as much as he thought he did and there's not enough time tonight to cover both those big subjects.
He only has himself to blame. All im hoping is he does well enough to stay on for 6th form.

Countrylife2002 · 14/05/2024 17:58

Yes dd is head down in history and can’t see how she’s going to get through everything she had planned. She has done a lot of revision. An evening of flashcards beckons for me! It’s a bit miserable for them with so much to learn.

Bluebird23 · 14/05/2024 18:02

Daughter found AQA French Listening hard and Reading straightforward. She's hoping her Speaking will buffer the listening🤞

History, Maths, Chemistry & Geography paper 1's to go for this week. Whilst she's enjoyed studying both History & Geography, the revision needed for both is rather brutal and I've advised our Y9 Son to pick one or the other.

Good luck to all

omnishambles · 14/05/2024 18:03

DD said the listening part of French was awful. She's upset as she wanted a 9 and wont get that now.

hels71 · 14/05/2024 18:17

DD is stressing about history too. And her school are still having a normal timetable for anyone not in an exam, so no chance to revise during the school day.

Stoufer · 14/05/2024 18:20

Anyone else’s dc struggle with timing in today’s AQA Business paper 1? Sadly dc didn’t finish - we have to hope paper 2 goes really really really well now…

IamSlave · 14/05/2024 18:55

Also stressing about history. Aqa

I don't understand how fhe paper works for the cold war part eg fhe dates

dinomirror · 14/05/2024 18:58

Aqa psychology- psych boost is v good and primrose kitten has an hour video on all
We are lucky that psychology literally did tests every week so DD is quite solid on that now

DramaLlamaBangBang · 14/05/2024 19:12

Countrylife2002 · 14/05/2024 12:44

She’s not worried as everyone found it hard and she could answer. Shes a 8/9 student and says the listening was the really hard bit. She has a good ear though so I’m not worried either!

Urgh I hope Spanish isn't too bad. They are both on the same days as Maths. DS is good at Spanish so he is gambling on concentrating on maths and still passing Spanish. The maths and RE is a problem on Tbursday as he's concentrating on maths and hasn't done as much RE.

@DramaLlamaBangBang opposite here a lot of re work and I’ve not seen any maths for a while!

It's hard isn't it? DS has done a lot of maths and not as much RE but I'm reluctant to say ' do more RE' because the maths is so important.

GlomOfNit · 14/05/2024 19:35

Ooof. Heavy evening ahead, and DS wants to be getting to bed at 10 or so because he's so drained. I don't WANT to say 'press on' as he really will get exhausted, but I think some late nights are going to be fairly inevitable over the next few weeks.

He says Mandarin went ok - listening was pretty tough (I think ALL languages listening is!) but reading was really 'nice'. He went straight into reviewing his psychology with DH, who IS a psychologist, and has now gone upstairs to try and refresh ALL THE HISTORY - Conflict and Tension, and Germany. SO much content. 😫

He desperately wants to do well in History, it's 'his subject' but I hope his methods is up to scratch. And yes, another History A-level wannabe.

IamSlave · 14/05/2024 19:39

Yes dd wants history a level as well and said she forgot the cold war.

See my view is that RE matters much more to dd. She will pass maths and that’s all that matters.

Yes mines the opposite, so that makes sense. He needs to work at maths but is OK in RE ( as in he got a 5 in the mocks and could probably get a 6 with not much effort) so it makes sense if your DD is good at maths.

Hi Finally found the thread again. Hope all going well with everyones kids. Currently being driven nuts by DS going to be a lot more NG long few weeks.

Newlease · 14/05/2024 21:16

@Stoufer DD said she couldn’t finish but that’s okay, the question was hard, she was going to skip it. I don’t now how to judge that, but is she is happy I am okay with it 😃
anyone has any idea if this still leads to a 9 on Business paper (she is hoping for 9)
I am drained, I have no energy left. not that I am teaching or even asking her questions or flash cards. Just faffing around, and getting stressed is causing me sleep and high pressure I think 😰

Newlease · 14/05/2024 21:19

And BTW, I really feel for you people having History tomorrow, wishing you all good luck! 💐💐Hope it goes well for us all
I admire people who can read all that content before exams and more importantly write everything in time ( DD definitely takes after me, not getting time to finish writing on Bio and now Business )

MamOfTwo · 14/05/2024 21:43

Another one worried about history tomorrow. So Much Content. Eduqas exam board for this one which not many seem to use. Good luck to all. I also feel done in already although still a month to go!

Rollergirl11 · 14/05/2024 21:56

DS doing AQA History (Medicine) tomorrow. This is probably his worst subject because of the amount of content. And then you have all the exam question structure on top that you have to remember. Essay writing isn’t his thing.

Whereas DD in Year 13 loves them! She does History A level, has her first exam next week. It is very very hard and DD says easily her hardest subject out of her 3 essay based subjects. Most colleges won’t predict A* at A level as they are so difficult to get.

DS also has Maths and RE on Thursday and RE has been neglected in favour of Maths. He needs a 5 in Maths otherwise he has to resit it at his school sixth form so that is taking precedence.
