I had a recent thread about DD's GCSE options. Several posters kindly contributed and the general view was that you could easily do History A level without having done the GCSE.

However, I have spoken to some people since who seem to think that if yhou don't take the GCSE that's that door is closed at at A level.

Which is it?

I'm asking now because, having chosen her options, now DD is not happy with them and is thinking of dropping History.

Yes, she does know. She's been rererred for assessment, with a long wait ahead.

Regardless, I agree that the important thing is knowing your limits. Amd she know she struggles with too many demands. So I've been approaching the Art thing from the point of view that it's a lot more work than you think that won't give you any of the downtime you need, and perhaps you are not as passionate about it as most other people taking the GCSE.

Still negotiating.

Good. I think as long as you have given her the best advice you possibly can, it ultimately will be down to her - but at least you are arming her with a range of considerations.

Hope it works out for her.

Good luck.
