School offers day 2023

So.... secondary school offer day is almost upon us. How is everyone dealing with the wait?

My DD is thinking about it far more than I would have hoped, is counting down the days and asking everyday if they will come out early. She's angry at the council that they can't sort the whole process out in a week. Apparently it's "not that hard to sort it out"🤔 I have tried to explain the process and that it's not just her it's every other child in the district (and neighbouring district as we've applied for schools there too), but she's just being impatient to know.

I'm thinking about it...but I thought I'd be worse with her been dc2 and wanting her to go to the same school as dc1. (No sibling priority at that school) but she's got a good chance of it so trying not to stress.

So how about everyone else?

Joining in v late as reality has only just dawned! We are v rural, only put one school as we were anticipating having moved into core catchment.. then it all fell apart! We're not catchment here, and lots of kids from class have put it as first choice. Historically kids have got in, but it's become more popular. Other options aren't great, particularly our closest which has some significant issues.

@hauntedvagina @Hunter2501 we were talking about Solihull always being early today at work! Then my local authority sent an email entitled "secondary school places" but it was a reminder for tomorrow 🤦🏻‍♀️ I come under Dudley. Waiting for OSH. 🙏

I'm so jealous of those of you who have your email. She says he won't sleep. So now no matter how hard I try he will make it impossible for me. Fingers crossed it comes close to midnight like with eldest so I can hopefully get some sleep.

Ds (who is not yet going to high school) seems to think we all need to stay up and celebrate at midnight.

He's not really interested, just any excuse to stay up late.

Is everyone waiting on emails? We have a portal to log into and the places were showing long before we got an email to say they were on there.

Our email comes from 8am tomorrow. I will log onto the portal after midnight

@hauntedvagina that's what happened when primary places were allocated here so I assume it's the same for secondary. I recall being able to see the outcome on the portal as soon as I woke up. The email didn't arrive until the afternoon.

I've been checking Portal every half hour or so but I'm thinking it's going to be midnight, my DD says she won't be able to sleep til she knows ,if it's bad news like I think it's going to be there's going to be a lot of tears 😞

I keep checking the portal here too - DD has gone to bed but we are staying up, I won't sleep anyway so might as well

We took advice from primary school and think we have 3 sensible choices but if it's not our first option we will all be disappointed

Thankfully my DD forgot or there would have been tears tonight at bedtime. I can't believe some of you lucky people already know! I am shattered but won't be able to sleep until I know.

I have just logged on mainly to check that I remembered my password - I hadn't. 😁so I have just reset it.

All set for the morning now. I am in the fortunate position that her place is pretty much guaranteed (sibling, and very close - less than 250m), but fingers crossed for everyone else, it was a horrible wait for us 6 years ago with my eldest.

Dreading it. First choice is less than 2 miles away but we are right down the list as not catchment.
Catchment is second choice but is over an hour a way on the bus, good school but don't want it.
We will probably end up having to appeal/on the waiting list. I just want to know now!

I think our LA is midnight it was last year for my SIL because she stayed up . 🤞🏻

Does anyone know if there is a parent portal for Cheshire West? I can’t find it online. I have the email saying they received my application and I had set up and account but I can’t now find where to log in to see if I can check it. I think I’m going to go to bed and wait until tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

also anxiously waiting and refreshing the portal! No chance of sleep here til it comes and then probably won't sleep when I see it either! Hope everyone gets what they want

Solihull here too and got email at 5.30. No idea it would be early and only checked by chance as had forgotten! 1st choice here but we are in a village and a ten min walk from the school so no worries really. Good luck to everyone else!
