School offers day 2023

So.... secondary school offer day is almost upon us. How is everyone dealing with the wait?

My DD is thinking about it far more than I would have hoped, is counting down the days and asking everyday if they will come out early. She's angry at the council that they can't sort the whole process out in a week. Apparently it's "not that hard to sort it out"🤔 I have tried to explain the process and that it's not just her it's every other child in the district (and neighbouring district as we've applied for schools there too), but she's just being impatient to know.

I'm thinking about it...but I thought I'd be worse with her been dc2 and wanting her to go to the same school as dc1. (No sibling priority at that school) but she's got a good chance of it so trying not to stress.

So how about everyone else?

@Zigzag99 LCC said emails would go out during "working.hours" and can take all day to filter through. So presumed from 9am. I tried to log on but it says the admissions page is closed due to offers day.....

Where did you log in? (I'm also waiting on primary places next month and can't log in to see that ATM)

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa curious. But how does being offered a place mid September work? Won't you have already started and been kitted out at the school you've been given because you wouldn't have been offered the place by the time you start? Or is that more for if you declined what you were offered so were "school-less".

@thismeansnothing it's basically just the same as any mid-year school move, it just might happen v soon after the child has started. Some parents will decide not to take the waiting list place, but if they really want the school then they still would

Aaaaah thanks. Hoping it won't come to that. But I'm anxious.

Our 1st choice is our catchment school but it is the one that's furthest away 🙄 and we're right on the border and it's always oversubscribed. So lord knows how it will go

They are definitely going out as just been messaged by one mum to say got first choice. I’m getting the same as you though, can’t log in and no email yet ☹️

My council website says 5 pm but hoping for sooner. I'm going to log in and look as soon as at work. I am still torn between our first and second choices - hopefully it will be one of them - safely in for the second choice but sometimes wish we'd put it first as dc wouldn't know anyone at the school we put first...he claims it's not an issue but I'm worrying

Oh god. I was taking some comfort in the fact we could get ready for school and work without repeated checking but if LCC are awake too then I won't be able to resist. Trying to gear myself up for the appeals process whilst still holding out hope 🙏🏼

Has anyone had theirs for Yorkshire schools? No email and portal not updated here!

We're North Yorkshire, I checked at 4am & could see we'd got first choice. Logged onto portal & looked at original application where it said decision made & could click on the offer. No email as yet.

Portal was down from 11 30 til 0705 . First choice was offered and it's an absolute weight off my mind as the other choices involved long bus journeys

West Yorkshire and our portal was updated at midnight.

We got our first choice, dd is very happy, especially as her friend got in too.

I know kids who joined my DC's school in September. They had a bit of a mad uniform buying rush but the kids have all settled in fine. It takes weeks and weeks for everyone to settle in so there's really no bother with starting late. Nobody knows everyone's name until Christmas! And at least at our secondary none of the clubs start until quite a few weeks in either. I don't think any of them regret switching.

London won't appear until 5pm, best to just ignore it until then. They never go early.

Has anyone got results for Leicestershire yet? Been logging onto the parent portal since 5am but nothing and no email. They said results would be shortly after midnight! Anyone else had any luck? I'm stressing out here!

First choice as expected. Well our only choice. I still waited until 00.01to check before going to sleep.

Good news for those who got what they wanted, sorry to those that didn't and I hope time speeds up for those waiting.
