Had a great experience at Emanuel. The interview went well and teachers are very friendly. Questions were very straight forward (basically what they sent ahead for the dc to answer). Teacher gave positive feedback, so that's a wrap! We are finished! Now a very long two week wait! 😅

PreplexJ · 26/01/2023 19:00

@SamPoodle123 congrats and good luck!

Same experience here, very friendly. Did they ask where the school ranked in the ones they applied for?

Mumyofthree · 26/01/2023 19:19

@knopka All done here too! And yes, they did ask to dc where the school ranked among the ones we applied.

It's just so nerve-racking, I am so happy that Emanuel interview is done. It was not in any way grilling and the interviewer was able to put son at ease and he was very happy coming out and said it went well. Now to wait until 10th February.

Congrats!

Great experience for us too at Emanuel today. Very friendly and all went smooth. Now we have to wait.... Finger crossed everyone

Agree - staff were very nice and providing reassuring feedback to parents and children.
Even the slight chaos felt quite homely!
Congrats on finishing

I think they asked something along the lines of this to everyone. They asked about other schools dd applied to and which was her favourite. The head also came over to speak with parents and asked something about where else we applied to or how many other schools applied to and everyone kind of laughed and no one really answered. I think they are really trying to get an idea of who really wants to be at the school.

My DS didn't get asked this.

Ah, perhaps some dc were not asked this. But the head did ask this to a few of the parents. And then the teacher who interviewed my dd asked her where else she applied to. I got the feeling they really want to know if you will accept the place.

knopka · 26/01/2023 20:00

@Daydreamscometrue interesting. I would have thought it would be a consistent question they would take a note of
@SamPoodle123 that's quote funny re parents not giving up the information. I guess it's easier to get this information out of children though as I know mine wouldn't be able to lie

Daydreamscometrue · 26/01/2023 20:07

His interviewer didn't mention anything. She did ask me if I had questions when she brought him back.

Taurus23 · 26/01/2023 20:09

My was asked this at LEH today and was read out the other schools I had put on the initial application (which I did months ago and was totally honest!) In hindsight maybe better to leave that bit off the form!

QuiteAJourney · 26/01/2023 20:53

My DD was asked and quite a few of her friends were asked about other schools they had applied to and also where they lived.

Interesting. I think they are really keen to get an idea of who would accept offers. My dd mentioned this as one of the reasons she likes Emanuel, that it is easy to get to and she could walk or ride a bike to school or take a short bus ride.

Daydreamscometrue · 26/01/2023 21:18

Seems like it was just my DS who wasn't asked anything like that 😯

It could just be the person interviewing forgot to ask. Did they ask what your ds likes about Emanuel?

I would not worry at all. It may be that they forgot. I think it is a pretty meaningless question - my DD was asked a list but no preferences.
The exercise is rather futile imho - our closest school is also the most "academic" on our list ... it is not even in our "top 3".

It may have been that the interviewer could have forgotten to ask.

Ours have mentioned receiving feedback after the interview, my DS went with dad and didn't get any feedback.

No my DD wasn’t asked that either. Although a lot of her friends did get asked. Not sure whether to read into that or not!

By feedback read - well done, I really enjoyed chatting with [insert name of DC] about [insert name of object, other topic of conversation].

It's so hard not to read into every small detail at the moment.

Our interviewer said that DS had really pushed her knowledge of how many sports pitches they had but didn't say anything else.
