Has anyone heard from spgs so far ?

Daydreamscometrue · 10/01/2023 14:41

So DS said the LU interview/lesson experience was really enjoyable. He loved the Chemistry and History lesson. The Chemistry lesson was a practical experiment and was lots of fun. The interview was very much like KGS and the staff were lovely. He has a sister there so we know the school very well.

QuiteAJourney · 10/01/2023 14:44

@MrsAFlorrick Thanks for the update. As other have said, most appreciated.

I find 'interesting' that, with more than a month gone since the exam and wit a process that is the same every year, they do not not for certain when the results are coming out.

Well done to your DS. It seems that it was a lovely experience and that he enjoyed it, which is so important.

Thank you. He's been more anxious about going back to school mid lesson but I don't want him having too much time off.

Been lurking for ages, thanks everyone for the updates, really supportive to know we are all going throuhg it. LU have confirmed the new Head will be Susan Wijeratna, currently at Eton.

No. Probably towards end of the day...

Pleasegrowmore · 10/01/2023 16:09

Nice to find this thread, wish I'd seen it before! Also awaiting news from SPGS and eventually Tiffin.

PreplexJ · 10/01/2023 16:44

Interesting to hear how parents choose between TGS and SPGS

wonderdogs · 10/01/2023 16:48

"LU have confirmed the new Head will be Susan Wijeratna, currently at Eton."

Tgat will be LU's first ever female head I think? I'm not surprised they appointed a woman as it's about time. There used to be portraits of previous heads all around the main hall but, a couple of years ago, they took them down as it was promoting an image of "pale, male, stale" which seemed totally out of place in one of London's foremost co-eds.

One is free, the other is very expensive.

This thread has saved me mentally!!

Your updates soooo helpful!

PreplexJ · 10/01/2023 16:55

@yuppy yet still parents choose to pay for some good reasons

The portraits are still there! Thought they'd try and get a female head. St Paul's Boys and Kings Wimbledon have female heads too now.

Have heard fantastic feedback on the new LU head , so glad they have found someone so qualified and apparently lovely person .

swgeek · 10/01/2023 18:25

Looks like a great appointment. Now watch LU become even more popular, oh dear!!!

Absolutely brilliant appointment! I think she'll be able to keep the school out of the press unlike her predecessor and get down to business. The school is now in great hands.
