I thought it might be useful for parents of 2023 children taking the 11+ test next school year to have a space to talk everything 11+ - tips on managing stress, approaches to the different papers, ways of relaxing etc.

Let's try and keep it positive and supportive!

@curiousmamma thank you and yes good luck to everyone!

@LimeCheesecake yes Kent test here too. has she been having tutoring for a while? No I don't want to push either, what's meant to be will be and all that. DC feeling very confident and happy at the moment so I would rather leave it at that, regardless of what happens!

Coraline353 · 05/09/2023 22:03

We're doing Bexley on Monday. Not sitting Kent. A lot of people around here so both but we felt the Kent schools were a little too far for daily commute.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 05/09/2023 22:39

We have Kent on Saturday and Bexley on Tuesday - eek! Then we have Newstead Wood on 22 September and then we're done with the state exams and will be the anxious wait for the results!

bobberra · 05/09/2023 23:02

Ours was today. Feels so nice to have it over with. Dd seems to think it went ok so we'll have to wait and see...

racheyc · 06/09/2023 10:53

@BlackLambAndGreyFalcon oh wow you've got a lot going on!

@bobberra I bet it is a weight off your shoulders! How long do you have to wait to get the results?

Idlovetostayhereandbenormal · 07/09/2023 07:19

Ours is in 2 days. DS seems to be ok at the moment so fingers crossed the nerves don’t get to him.

curiousmamma · 07/09/2023 08:05

Good luck to those sitting it today or at the weekend. I bet you'll all be happy when it's over! WineSmile

racheyc · 07/09/2023 09:37

Mine is in now! Totally fine all last night and on the walk to school. Then literally 30 seconds I left them before started to look a little nervous! Anyway, what will be will be now!

hannsmum · 07/09/2023 10:27

Anyone here sitting SET for NOnsuch/ wallington high school on Tuesday?

I have not received the official email invite and think it's a bit unprofessional not to have sent it by now as we don't know what slot we are attending for the exam and it's in 5 days ?😫

curiousmamma · 07/09/2023 11:05

@hannsmum

sorry we're no nowhere near you but our details are meant to come through two weeks before. Surely they do it with more than 5 days to go? Perhaps give them a quick ring to see if they've gone out or not yet.

Thank you

Yea. Called them yesterday to be sure I hadn't missed out on anything but they said they will send it out yesterday or early this morning

Surely they need to know people need to plan round these activities ?

LimeCheesecake · 07/09/2023 12:50

@racheyc - here today as well. Is it Kent Test? If so, it’s basically done now, just the written paper to go this afternoon (that only gets looked at on appeal).

so glad we are done. I don’t think her mood the last week will mean she’s going to pass, but at least now we can move on and enjoy the sunshine!

good luck everyone else who’s got it this week.

racheyc · 07/09/2023 13:35

@LimeCheesecake yes it is. Exactly, one way or the other it's all done now. What's meant to be will be and all that! Good luck to your DD anyway. Just the countdown to the results to wait for now 🙄

roratone · 07/09/2023 16:51

We're a bit later than you. Yorkshire schools - one 23/9, one 30/9.

I'm toying between easing off and keeping up the pace. There is scope for improvement. She had a break over the hols, which took her a week or so to click back from. I do feel mean asking her to do tests after school on such a hot, airless day but the tutor is quite a taskmaster! She has a Y6 residential next week to look forward to fortunately.

curiousmamma · 07/09/2023 16:59

Same date here @roratone. Are you aiming for the Halifax schools and Skipton by any chance?

roratone · 07/09/2023 17:09

@curiousmamma

Might be 😉

curiousmamma · 07/09/2023 17:29

@roratone
It's nice to know someone sitting the same exam as us. I'm easing off at the moment as I can tell DDs concentration isn't great in this heat. I don't really know if she will get in or not but I'd prefer her not to go to the local school.

Coraline353 · 07/09/2023 21:27

The nerves are seriously kicking in here.

DS has been really stroppy and picking fights today. He's just been in floods of tears at bedtime over losing a Popit on the way home from school.

God I can't wait for this to be over. The fucking stress.on a 10 year.old.is awful. He wants it so much and.he should do well but it's awful. So much pressure. If he doesn't pass, I honestly don't know what it will do.to.him.

racheyc · 07/09/2023 21:37

aww @Coraline353 that's so tough. Every time I thought of DC today doing it my stomach flipped. It's the pressure they put on themselves. Hopefully it will all be worth it.

LimeCheesecake · 07/09/2023 21:56

So all done. She seems ok, hopefully pass but now just glad it’s done!

LimeCheesecake · 07/09/2023 21:57

Oh and good luck to all those got to do it this weekend - lots of water, it’s going to be hot!

Coraline353 · 07/09/2023 21:59

Yeah the heat isn't going to help anyone! Will be slightly cooler Monday afternoon. Just hoping he's not over tired and.over stressed by then!

Or me for that matter!

Coraline353 · 07/09/2023 22:01

Glad those who are done are feeling ok about it. No more they can do!
I'm glad we're only doing the one test! There'll be some banding tests down the line for the local state secondaries but there's no real pressure with them

hannsmum · 07/09/2023 22:34

Wish mine was one stage . SET (Sutton) are doing 2 stage tests.. gosh the nerves this week

I'm more anxious than she is 😩😩

ThisSummerBetterBeDarnGood · 08/09/2023 19:27

How long for each part please.
We've printed off the county tests to do and we have 4 but no where does it say how long each shoud be
