i myself have been looking for this thread and have been unsuccessful. Saw a couple people mention it over the past day or so on the 2022 one.

so here we go, albeit a bit late.

has everyone visited all the schools on their lists?

how many schools are everyone applying to?

what schools are you applying to?

how is the preparation going?

i know some exams have taken place, how did they go?

wishing all the whirls good luck with preparation and exams, hope we all find the right schools for our daughters.

Has anyone done the ISEB mock on Atom Learning - my DD has done a couple and I have been quite surprised that in both the only questions about spelling / grammar about words that might / might not be put together (eg. Fairy tales, dog walker, etc) which I think can be, in quite a few cases quite subjective. Just wondering if that reflects what ISEB is really like?

Thanks everyone. That is reassuring and hopefully means we will all get someone that we are happy with. We've got two more exams to go here and then interviews and then the long wait for the news. Great to have everyone here supporting. Well done to all kids, it is a hard process at such a young age.

My son did the ISEB this weekend. He has been preparing by doing ISEB mock tests on Atom. He said it was incredibly similar to what he has been doing on Atom.

@Dallasdays thanks, that is really useful. Do you mind asking him if compound words came up a lot? It is the only thing that I found puzzling, tbh (in the mock there were 5-6 questions on them)

KindergartenKop · 20/11/2022 19:12

@secondaryquandries remember that they want a spread of marks, it's a problem for them if they have 20 kids with the same mark and they need to draw the line somewhere among that 20. So the sheer difficulty and number of Qs helps get a variety of marks and provides the stretch for the top.
My DS didn't finish the first tiffin maths paper but still got to the second round, so he can't have been the only one. Tbh it's worth warning the kids that the end of the maths paper is designed to be tricky.

Hello! He said yes, they did come up a lot in VR....

QuiteAJourney · 20/11/2022 19:45

@Dallasdays many thanks. Sorry, did not explain myself well - it was compound words in English as to - is it "high chair" or "highchair" or "horse riding" or "horse-riding". The mock tests in Atom 5-6 of those and virtually nothing else on spelling!

He said none of that!

QuiteAJourney · 20/11/2022 20:11

@Dallasdays , thanks so much! I thought it was rather strange. So good of you to confirm! Really appreciated.

Thanks. Do you think all the schools are very time pressured. Does anyone know if Hampton/Claremont, Ibstock and Kcs are?

Dallasdays · 20/11/2022 22:28

KGS interview outcomes tomorrow - feeling nervous!

Not sure about the others, but I gather that IPS is supposed to be hard and time pressured

secondaryquandries · 21/11/2022 09:53

Thanks @QuiteAJourney guess we'll see how it goes!! Yes waiting on KGS too 😬!

EmotiveBubblez · 21/11/2022 12:54

Have many people applied to WHS? In previous years it’s been quite a popular choice

OP posts:
LondonMum20222 · 21/11/2022 13:09

@EmotiveBubblez I've been really surprised how little mention there has been on Mumsnet this year of some of the most popular schools - WHS, PHS, SPGS, G&L, CLSG. Usually these threads are full of people applying to those schools, but this year almost nothing. Not sure what to make of it (other than that the parents of those applicants aren't on here this year!)

EmotiveBubblez · 21/11/2022 13:12

@LondonMum20222 i agree

whs was last week Thursday and Friday

PHS is this week I believe

London Consortium starts next week

i think SPGS is coming up soon too.

I understand Latymer Upper have moved their test from January to next month

LondonMum20222 · 21/11/2022 13:15

@EmotiveBubblez Yes SPGS first round is this week (we've got friends sitting it). But I'm still baffled as to why no-one's talking about any of those schools on here. Usually these threads are a Hammersmith schools frenzy!

Did your DD sit WHS? How did it go? I know it's always a really popular choice.

EmotiveBubblez · 21/11/2022 13:23

darn it just typed a long message and it disappeared on me.

very interesting we haven’t heard much from the West Londoners ( I am one lol)

yes, she did it. WHS put on 4 sittings and there were so many girls there.

she hasn’t shared much other than it went well and enjoyed it and liked the cookie. The staff are lovely there.

OP posts:
LondonMum20222 · 21/11/2022 13:30

@EmotiveBubblez Tbh, as long as they enjoy the process - and don't find it stressful - I'd consider that a win!

So are you applying to any of the Hammersmith schools?

EmotiveBubblez · 21/11/2022 14:20

Only G&L.

daughter did not like LU or SPGS

OP posts:
confu5ed · 21/11/2022 14:53

@LondonMum20222 @EmotiveBubblez We have PHS this week but haven't applied to the others that you've mentioned. Just don't think they will suit DD and we've gone for quite a few co-ed this time around.

QuiteAJourney · 21/11/2022 15:26

Just got an email from KGS (which was our first exam).
DD (and us) over the moon - she has an interview!

secondaryquandries · 21/11/2022 15:55

Same @QuiteAJourney we're very happy though not told son yet.

secondaryquandries · 21/11/2022 15:56

Do you know if everyone gets a 'general interview' or do some people get an academic one?
