I've read through lots of chat re 2019 but can't see a 2020 10/11+ 2020 thread. How are your DS's getting on?

OP posts:

@PopGoesTheWeaz that's pretty hilarious! Grin

chalkyc2 · 31/01/2020 09:14

2 whole weeks to go! Argh I just want to know now!!

Aquasw · 31/01/2020 11:53

HI. I've been reading all of this with interest. Currently waiting to hear back from T, W, Emanuel and Ibstock. I think we should all hear on 14th. Is that right? And a week later for Ibstock? The wait is killing me. Not much good at work and desperately checking post even though weeks away! Is it just me going mad?

Funnerinthesun1 · 31/01/2020 13:32

Is there anyone else who's not nervous and more excited than anything? I think its such a new adventure for the boys! Theres no point stressing/worrying because you cant change what is going to happen. They will end up where they need to be, and just think, if they dont get Trinity/Whitgift or another independent school....the money you will save!

UntamedShrew · 31/01/2020 13:34

I’m also hating the wait! Out of interest did most of you apply to both T and W? And many others? We did just W but also DC, Emanuel and Epsom. Do most of you have a first choice or are you open minded? I’m leaning towards whitgift or Epsom heavily now but that’s mainly down to having had more contact with them I think.

Frazzledmom · 31/01/2020 13:38

I'm 10+ and did T and W. My preference is very much T, my son was wowed by W! W is much closer to home, so we'll see. I think I'll be happy with either school for him. I just know I cannot go through this process again for 11+, it's so draining for all of us as a family...

Fingers crossed for offers day for everyone 🤞

Aquasw · 31/01/2020 13:49

You are right Funnerinthesun1 it is exciting too. I am leaning towards Whitgift but that is probably only because I liked the guy who we met there post exam. My problem is its location but it is slightly more flexible with GCSE results to get into 6th form than Trinity. Trinity you have to get x6 grade7 to stay in 6 form which is probably doable but not a walk in the park....mi d you given the fees I'd want results to be good but not at cost of being happy. Will see as unlikely to have a choice!

Adaryn · 31/01/2020 14:00

DS did 10+ T and W. We all agree on our preference, but annoyingly it is the less convenient one. Just going to see if/what offers he gets and make our minds up from there. I know T does a deciders tour, hopefully W does too.

KandCa · 31/01/2020 16:54

It is going to be a tough 2 weeks, but I tell myself, 2 weeks will go so fast, in no time we will have answers....nothing we can do now to affect the outcome... Hope you all get your first choices!

PopGoesTheWeaz · 31/01/2020 19:53

I'm not nervous in a bag way so much but we just don't know what will happen -where DS will get in and where if anywhere he gets a scholarship so it's very hard for us to think about preferences and top choices. No point in saying X is our top choice if he doesn't get in, or Y is our top choice but if he gets a scholarship at Z the that would trump full fees at Y. And then what if he gets into top choice outstanding state school? SO, for me, the nervousness is more because I know we will have decisions to make, don't have the necessary information to make them yet, so know there is going to be another busy surge coming up. Does that make sense at all?

KandCa · 31/01/2020 21:08

Yes it does @PopGoesTheWeaz... It is hard knowing that decisions will have to be made but not having all the info you need to make them...

Still we have 2 weeks of our lives that we need to live to the full and not make them the 2 waiting weeks.... keep.tellong myself Grin

Wobbles21 · 02/02/2020 05:11

Adaryn- unless things have changed W don’t do post-offer views. For brother schools W and T are surprisingly different.

chalkyc2 · 02/02/2020 08:14

I'm impatient for news rather than nervous I suppose. It's impossible to stop running the possible outcome scenarios constantly round in my head. We are also not totally aligned in terms of school preference in our family and I am anticipating some conflict - if lucky enough to get offers of course! We only did T, plus 3 others, one of which we have already had a 'no' to.

Nonie0509 · 02/02/2020 14:17

Hello. We were going through this last year. Had offers from both T and W (10+). I favoured T, my husband W so post offer we went back to both schools with our son. The morning at T was fantastic and confirmed to me that it was the right school for our son. Full on tour during a normal school day, talk by the HM but much more intimate. Lots of staff on hand, spoke to random boys intra- lessons in the corridors... whereas at W, we were shown round by two 6 formers. Not the same experience at all. Thankfully my husband realised T was the right choice! Good luck everyone. The waiting is tough.

Hopefulmum72 · 04/02/2020 20:48

How is everyone doing? Been quiet around here...

chalkyc2 · 04/02/2020 22:16

Waiting impatiently! Trying to focus on doing some work which was rather neglected in January 😬

Brrrr10 · 05/02/2020 13:03

Next Friday cannot come quick enough. I just want to know either way. Why can't they tell us this week!

LuluBellLondon · 05/02/2020 13:09

The waiting is horrendous. I am busy but keep getting waves of apprehension whenever I think about it! Which is often!

KandCa · 05/02/2020 13:56

Me too!.....Why does it take so long.....obviously it feels like an eternity to us and it feels like too fast for them.....

Frazzledmom · 06/02/2020 10:02

Hello everyone,

I'm officially counting down now!

My stress-o-meter has swung wildly from zero offers from both schools to offers from both and all manner of variations in between!!

I've had a project at work to keep me busy so that has helped (not!)...

Anyone joining in for the final countdown?

Fingers and toes crossed for everyone 🤞

KandCa · 06/02/2020 11:05

@Frazzledmom I am in! Grin

chalkyc2 · 06/02/2020 14:59

I'm in. I keep thinking oh, only a week until offer day. And then AH a whole week!!!

I've never been a patient person and this is testing me.

jasmine372 · 06/02/2020 20:03

This time next week everyone ! Hmm

LuluBellLondon · 07/02/2020 11:48

While we wait - to ease the boredom - can anyone who has music kids at Trinity tell me how it works with moving music teachers? So if my DD gets in we'd want a new piano teacher as his teacher is attached to his current school. How does it work and do they offer this when you start?

LuluBellLondon · 07/02/2020 11:49

DS obviously!
