Who else is excited?

Obviously only me! 😂

It can't come soon enough! My nerves are almost shot to pieces.

BitchPeas · 17/02/2019 15:40

I’ve been worrying for around 18 months. I need to know! Not sure if taking part in a thread would make me feel better or wind me up even more Grin

At4oclockthenormalworld · 17/02/2019 15:40

I'm totally worst case scenario-ing but have that tendency in all areas of life Confused

myhamsteratefreddiestarr · 17/02/2019 15:41

When is it?

twilightcafe · 17/02/2019 15:44

March 1
Hope for the best and prepare for the worst is my motto too.

I have been trying diversion therapies like going to the gym more often and knitting baby blankets for the local neonatal unit.

malmontar · 17/02/2019 15:57

We had ours on Friday so a little early due to EHCP but got our second choice and really happy with it. Everyone is excited for sept now. Hope you all get what you’re expecting/hoping for.

MrsKCastle · 17/02/2019 16:00

I'm feeling nervous. My DD1 has her heart set on a popular school that we're not in catchment for, but there is a chance we'll get in. If not, we should get second choice catchment school which is ok, but I know DD will be disappointed. Keeping fingers crossed.

elliejjtiny · 17/02/2019 16:02

There is only one secondary school near us and ds1 already goes there so fairly certain ds2 will get in. It's the actual starting the school in September that I'm nervous about.

FallenSky · 17/02/2019 16:04

Never in my life have I felt nerves and anxiety quite like I'm experiencing now. It's come as quite a shock! Our first choice is our closest but massively oversubscribed and the distance criteria from previous years just gives me a headache. So I've really got no idea whether we've got a chance or not.

Hurry up March 1st! Anyone know roughly what time the emails get sent?

At4oclockthenormalworld · 17/02/2019 16:08

That's good news mal, fingers crossed for the rest of us Smile

myhamsteratefreddiestarr · 17/02/2019 16:30

I’m not worried as DC is in the Year 6 academy which feeds into year 7.

Plus we live opposite the school, so can’t see them sending DC somewhere else.

Good luck to all of you who had to make choices though, hope you get what you want.

twilightcafe · 17/02/2019 16:31

FallenSky Don't know, but I am not expecting much sleep the night before.

Toomanycats99 · 17/02/2019 16:43

This was me last year!

However even if you don't get first choice don't panic - we got 4th then mid April we got 3rd, a week later we got 2nd (declined as preferred 3rd) The day before term started we got offered 1st (which we declined as just too late!)

FiveGoMadInDorset · 17/02/2019 16:47

Trying to get DS into an out of catchment school which is oversubscribed this year, DD is there already but got in fine. Its a free school, when she got in we got a letter of acceptance straight from them in January, nothing this year.

namechangedyetagain · 17/02/2019 16:59

I just want it to be over, October seems a long time ago. Hoping that ds gets his first choice as despite everything that has been thrown at him, he made it possible. I'm not ready for my pfb to leave primary school and go into the big wide world though!

TeenTimesTwo · 17/02/2019 17:06

Whatever you do, accept the school offered.
(Though, presumably by the fact you are posting on this board you already know that. Grin)

reluctantbrit · 17/02/2019 17:11

Good luck, while I was fairly certain we would get our first choice I still felt very nervous and checked the website constantly in the afternoon.

Our borough had to take in 26 bulge classes in the Reception year of the children who get their secondary offer this year. Spaces at secondary will be tight, I feel for 2 friends who hope for a 1st choice but it may be touch and go.

BeautyWasTheBeast · 17/02/2019 17:24

We put 4 choices. 1 & 2 are grammar schools ds passed exam for but he's not in a guaranteed position.
3 is a good school but out of catchment
4 is our catchment school and is still a good school. (It's well sought after around here even out of catchment)
..so even though we hope for 1 or 2 we should be in a good school whatever the outcome.... But the waiting is killing me.

swampytiggaa · 17/02/2019 17:29

I only put one choice down. Already got 2 there and it’s the only secondary in town.

It’s really laid back here about school places - everyone seems to get where they want even if it’s out of catchment 🙂

Zinnia · 17/02/2019 17:36

Ha I've been on the point of starting this thread since 1st Jan but have always managed to talk myself out of it!

Congrats @malmontar on your DD's place, IIRC all your options were good ones so great that she's got one of the top 2.

On very fringes by distance of our 1st choice here, will be sweating it through spring (and quite possibly most of the summer...) on the waiting list. Friday week is just the starting whistle for us!

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/02/2019 17:38

I was sure it was end of March! Shit! Shock

JacquettaW · 17/02/2019 17:39

Had ours for over a week due to EHCP. We got second choice, moderately happy and may turn out to be better than first because it's a smaller school. Hoping he doesn't hate it!

malmontar · 17/02/2019 17:42

@reluctantbrit this is the same in our borough. Our DD was in one of the many bulge reception classes and last year they had to make over 5 bulge classes in the secondary schools and most catchments were still less than a mile. Our top two catchments were 0.53 miles and over 30 ehcp appeals for the school we’ve just got. To say I’m relieved is an understatement.

Gizlotsmum · 17/02/2019 17:42

Do you know what even though I knew it was 1st March I hadn't twigged how close it was!! 😮 Will be happy with either of our choices and accept the school she will get placed in if both the first 2 fall through. She is moving away from most of her class with both our choices so friendship issues not really a consideration. Just whether she is on a bus or walking/cycling to school.
