Hi there, is anyone preparing for the 10+exams on Saturday ? Its all very exciting and nerve wrecking it would be good to hear from mums who already have their children there, is it worth all the stress and money?

Ah, I see, Greenleave! Your DD has a 10+ offer from last year and is sitting the 11+ scholarship exam this Friday, maybe

What are you going to do? Is the other exam a scholarship exam too??

Greenleave · 09/01/2019 21:33

We dont know what to do really, we like the other school equally and it is the entrance test.

dontjudgemummy · 09/01/2019 21:37

Don't the other school have another day? I thought most did? Poor you! Risky, but if your DD has a 10+ offer, then surely she'd pass an 11+ exam??

dontjudgemummy · 09/01/2019 21:46

I feel sorry for the kids who did the 11+ last Friday and then have to do another 3-hour exam 7 days later...

nerbek · 09/01/2019 22:37

Greenleave can I ask if you received the actual results of the 10+? And what sort of level do you have to be reaching to get this offer?

OP posts:
Greenleave · 09/01/2019 22:48

No we didnt receive any result. We went to the exam very unprepared last year. She is very strong with maths(naturally, good in chess playing too) and her English is also strong. We only started group tutoring by then and had never done a VR paper. She did ok in both maths and english and didn't finish VR test( didnt know how many questions left but guessed of good 5-7). By then she didnt have any exam technique as never sat a test in her life( state school child), had she sat it now she should know that 3 mins left and if multiple choice just blindly choose the favourite letter. We hope the 2 exams dont clash on Friday so that after then we are done with exams.

nerbek · 09/01/2019 22:54

Schools should be really accommodating with these clashes so much time and effort goes into them. Can I which is the other school? Hopefully she'll do well in both.. it's a shame they don't tell you the Scoring..
The 10+ mums fingers crossed for FridaySmile

"nerbek", no private school will give you the results of the test if you are offered a place because it's not relevant & when all dc start the school they all start from the same point. If you don't get an offer they often give feedback of where the weak spots were. Greensleeve is being modest about the ability of her dd which on other threads you can see she has exceptional musical talent and has flown through entrance exams both grammar & private.
Greensleeve, I look forward to hearing how your dd gets on come mid Feb & 1 March.

Poppyred25 · 10/01/2019 14:35

Sorry meant "Greenleave" and not "Greensleeve"!

Greenleave · 10/01/2019 16:24

Thanks so much for your flattered (and kind) words Poppyred25, my daughter clearly isnt exceptional as many talented children she met during the 11+ journey. We are still in the middle of it so nothing to report back yet. She did find many of the exams challenging and some exams she couldnt finish. It feels like a very long journey however with comfort that everyone at her age is doing the same if opt for selective schools. She has also learnt so much from it too. We had a comment from her violin teacher yesterday saying"wow, whats an improvement given little or no practice, it must be because of the tough exams you are going through which have made your playing become much more matured :)) and we just all laughed so hard.

Poppyred25 · 10/01/2019 18:03

"Greenleave", glad to hear it's all progressing well and good luck tomorrow. Keep us posted!

nerbek · 10/01/2019 20:02

'Poppyred25' it's not relevant ?? Of course it is you can see if your kids has anywhere close to passing these 11+ exams or not worth going through the stress of all if your child is not able. It's not about everyone starting at the same point. It's about going again or not

dontjudgemummy · 11/01/2019 12:52

Anyone heard?? We were supposed to hear by midday today

TheExtraGuineaPig · 11/01/2019 13:06

Are you waiting for the normal 11+ result/ interview? Also not heard and trying (failing) to not refresh my email every minute

nerbek · 11/01/2019 13:06

Nope not yet don't know if that means good or bad news as greenleave heard couple of days ago

OP posts:
TheExtraGuineaPig · 11/01/2019 13:15

I think they had a 10+ offer from last year

dontjudgemummy · 11/01/2019 13:17

Waiting for 10+

dontjudgemummy · 11/01/2019 13:20
    • I think they had a 10+ offer from last year

?

rakushka04 · 11/01/2019 13:26

Probably another power cut Grin

TheExtraGuineaPig · 11/01/2019 13:27

Sorry my reply was really unclear.. I think Greenleave was in a different position as they were offer holders from last years 10+ waiting for details of the scholarship exam.

dontjudgemummy · 11/01/2019 13:29

Ah, I see. Thanks. I'm not with it!!

dontjudgemummy · 11/01/2019 13:30

I thought both 10+ and (regular) 11+ are finding out today.

sambarnet · 11/01/2019 13:50

It's very frustrating. Waiting for 10+ here too. Has anyone spoken with the school?

nerbek · 11/01/2019 13:51

The 10+ exam, yes I'm trying not to refresh every 2 mins tooSmileSmile

OP posts:
TheExtraGuineaPig · 11/01/2019 13:57
