Hi there, is anyone preparing for the 10+exams on Saturday ? Its all very exciting and nerve wrecking it would be good to hear from mums who already have their children there, is it worth all the stress and money?

Yes we love the school. But you know what. The odds of getting a place at 10+ are super low - and if you get one you need to put all your eggs (or at least a hefty deposit) into the KGS basket one year early. I wasn’t even downhearted when we didn’t get an interview. I chalked it up as a practice run up. Then you have a lot of options next year. I didn’t even put my DD (who is one year behind) into the 10+ last year because I didn’t want to commit to one school without having other options.

@nerbek - mine did the 10+ as practice and got in with the 11+. It’s great practice!

From what I can gather the 11+ I see pretty similar to the 10+ so you will be prepared x

Has anyone heard back yet today? Do you think emails will go out today? A bit try as I am not expecting an interview for D's as he isn't scholarship material but would be good to know!

We werent told about the numbers interviewed at all and didnt know how many got the place. The scholarship interview this year was super nice and chilled too even it was maths and english interview however the interviewer made it very chilled and relaxing.

Sorry I mean who had interviews...

Report
sambarnet · 18/01/2019 20:57

Greenleave, do you know if most children who hadn't interviews were offered a place?

Report
Greenleave · 18/01/2019 20:51

Last year 10+ interview was very chilled, only about what books the child was reading and tell the interviewer the activity they like most.

Sorry, no idea about 10+ interviews. The ones that I know that were interviewed, were all offered to sit for scholarships. They will only offer the really top children for 10+, as they have no idea what will come along the next year at 11+. You really do have to be very clever to get in at this stage. I would imagine anyone that gets to interview stage at 10+ will definitely get in at 11+ (if they don't this time). KGS is a weird one. Children that get LEH and Hampton often don't get KGS and vice versa. I think KGS are looking for a particular kind of child.
