Is there a thread yet for parents with kids doing entrance exams in Jan? It's been so helpful looking through previous years threads and now we're going through it I'd love a hand-hold and any advice on what to expect!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts & experiences @mumofLL & @popuppippa. Just wanted to check that our decision to decline the offer for 10+ wasn’t completely bonkers!

Motheroftw0 · 06/03/2019 07:20

Dear pipandpop,
Last year we applied at T & W and DS got full fee offers. After contemplating a lotttt we decided to decline both hoping for a grammar at 11 plus or scholarship offer at T/W. We were super nervous worried if we would regret that!
This year applied only for T and again gutted with a full fee offer and was worried if he would get into grammar as no scholarship was probably hinting something. But on March 1st DS got offered first choice highly competitive grammar school and we have declined full fee offer from Trinity.

Again things could change case to case but just wanted to reassure you that people to reject 10 plus offers and there is still hope Smile Goodluck with your decision

enter The next second hand sale at T is 16 March 8-11am. They usually have one at the same time as the New Boys morning in June too.

We got out uniform at Hewitts during the summer holiday to allow for growth spurts. If oyu ring them they do individual appointments in the evening during the summer, where you get 1-1 service. It's a lot less hassle!

Seeline thank you! You're a bit of a celebrity on the T&W threads - I can't believe its actually my turn to hear these things from you!

Happy to help where I can 😁

So finally accepted whitgift 10+ offer. Was holding out for T until 1pm but it sounds like they are still waiting for 10 responses from their original offer letters before they can even consider waiting list places.

Who else is on the 10+ W bandwagon. Would love to hear from you. Smile

Cantthinkof0ne · 06/03/2019 15:01

Hi Chelsea, we are 10+ at Whitgift and new to the whole Mumsnet thing. Hi 👋 and well done on accepting. Are you confirm from a small primary or prep school? We are and it’s all a little daunting as well as exciting!

Cantthinkof0ne · 06/03/2019 15:02

That should have been **coming from

daisyphase · 06/03/2019 15:38

Hi Chelsea3 and CantthinkofOne, we too have accepted W for 10+ after receiving offers from both W & T. W is the first big school DS visited 2 or 3 years ago, and he's never wanted to go anywhere else since. He's very excited about making the move. DH a little more nervous and would have liked to keep him at prep for one more year. I hope we're doing the right thing!

SheWhoMustBe69 · 06/03/2019 15:41

Has anyone on the wait list for W heard from them yet?

SheWhoMustBe69 · 06/03/2019 15:41

opps for 11+ entry

PutMum · 06/03/2019 16:08

Hi Daisyphase, CantThinkofOne, Chelsea3 we are in for 10+ at W too. Coming from a small state secondary - its' going to be a bit of an adventure!

PutMum · 06/03/2019 16:11

state primary

Chelsea3 · 06/03/2019 16:24

CantthinkofOne and daisyphase... congrats for getting this far. DS wanted T more so but didn't make the cut unfortunately. He is coming from a state school, on the same road as we live. The school day will be longer but that we anticipated. Hoping that it's the right thing for him too! Only time will tell now. He is feeling sad about leaving his friends, but that would have happened naturally next year anyhow

Yey22 · 06/03/2019 16:45

SheWhoMustBe69 I’m aware of a number of declined places for W at 11+ so fingers crossed.

Cantthinkof0ne · 06/03/2019 17:09

Chelsea, Daisyphase and PutMum - it’s great to hear I’m not alone in my anxieties. Coming from a v small prep school will be a big change as well as a longer journey every day. DS also sad to be leaving behind friends so I’m really looking forward to the various new starter meetings planned over the next few months

user1485549700 · 06/03/2019 19:34

Hi to the W 10+ acceptances! We went yesterday had another look, great to see the place buzzing with children! Had a chat with DS before handing in our acceptance, his one concern was missing out on all the y6 stuff next year, and not being with his friends. So hoping it was the right decision!

MuMama25 · 06/03/2019 20:17

We also accepting 10+ from local state school Will be getting school bus for 40 mins in xxx

Goingcrazymother · 06/03/2019 20:36

Hello w 10+ we are also very anxious and excited about what's to come x

Chelsea3 · 06/03/2019 21:35

Wow. We have a real crowd here. This is such an exciting time. May be worth setting a what's app group? If so, happy to do this and if you would like to be part of it. Pls DM with number and name Smile

Cantthinkof0ne · 06/03/2019 22:21

Great idea Chelsea....but I’m not sure how to DM!!! lol 😆

walkingtheplank · 06/03/2019 23:13

Seems like Whitgift 11+ are in the minority here now, whch is a surprise. I can't remember who accepted Whitgift 11+.
I do hope we start getting a bit more information now.

volpemum · 06/03/2019 23:17

We are 11+ Whitgift! Also looking forward to getting some info now. Suspect the admissions department have had a crazy couple of weeks with the deadline today! DS cannot wait to start now!

walkingtheplank · 06/03/2019 23:19

It must be quite a tough 2 months for the Admissions team!
We happened to drive past earlier. He and I can't wait for him to start.

MuMama25 · 07/03/2019 06:41

We are also 11+ W - he’s raring to go now the decision is finally made - I know they were rammed with people touring again on Tues
