It's prom night for DS3 tonight! I might post some photos later. No gathering pre-prom or after party for him or his mates, but he's happy with that.

farangatang · 22/06/2018 17:53

A quick catch up from me today - DD actually enjoyed her prom (although she said she had to step outside for about an hour and a half due to the volume of the music!) and allowed me to take pictures and everything! She had her hair done and wore heels!

Tonight she declined the opportunity to come out to a BBQ event having said she had done more than enough socialising and was too tired.

Wish I could post pics as she looked incredible (IMHO)!

Congrats to your DD Alexander and here's hoping all DC enjoy (did enjoy) their Prom night. They are definitely growing up fast.

Sost I hope you're feeling well and 100% healthy again very VERY soon.

BlueBelle123 · 22/06/2018 18:00

wonderwine have you managed to resolve the after prom nightmare!!?

I naively thought its a shame DS isn't going till he was invited and the more I find out about it I'm noooooooooo do you really want to go, the last party he was invited to they were serving jelly and ice-cream! He's more excited about it than prom I am just dreading the whole thing......I do tend to have an overactive imagination which is not helping the situation!!

Hope those with prom tonight have a fab time!

Photo of DS3 in his prom suit! Grin

DS's geeky mates have brought a monopoly game to play while they're at the prom. HmmGrin

Cblue · 22/06/2018 19:49

@EllenJanethickerknickers - loving it!!!!

Meanwhile prom night here hasn't gone so well. We went shopping for shoes and came back with a leather jacket Confused

She decided to wear a pair of my high heels. She put on the dress and shoes and then declared that she didn't see why girls have to wear 'stupid dresses and stupid shoes' and promptly stomped upstairs and came down in black skinny jeans, a spangly top, high heel boots the new leather jacket and a very large grin!!!!

She says she's 'making a stand'

On a positive note she isn't wearing a marvel tshirt, she is wearing makeup and has brushed her hair and not scraped into a ponytail.

No photo because she rolled her eyes at me and got in her friends mums car (who looked slightly taken aback by her ensemble) and waved.

Why oh why can't I have a normal girl hahaha

cubscout · 22/06/2018 19:51

EllenJane that's a fabulous suit! Your ds rocks!

Love the pics of the girls looking gorgeous too

Prom is next week for us, after 6th form induction. Ds rapidly going off the idea as none of his close group of friends are going (he really only found this group in the last few months). Boys from his primary that he used to be friendly with are going so I'm trying to sell it on that basis.

Other than that, another 4 days of 'nothing' (except helping me out on Monday with furniture moving for new carpet fitting).

Stickerrocks · 22/06/2018 20:06

HG's speech went well at graduation. DD managed to talk about those they have lost without a crack in her voice & I was so proud of her. The worst moment was when the friend I was sitting with got out her camera to take a pic of her DD getting the prize for Person Most Likely to be PM only for it to be given to my DD instead. The Head had been to school with my DH, so we took in their own leaving photo which raised a few smiles.

Stickerrocks · 22/06/2018 20:08

Well done cblue's DD. Why should it just be the lads who can have fun dressing up? EJ I want to dress like a Rubik's Cube too!

Stickerrocks · 22/06/2018 20:09

Aragog & Alexander Wow!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 22/06/2018 20:31

Well done to your DD, Stickerrocks. Another PM in the making in this thread.

And go your own way, Cblue's DD.

Not all DS's mates fancied the prom. Try to persuade him cub. He may regret missing it.

There was a queue of cool looking boys in sharp suits wanting a selfie with DS on his Rubik's Cube/Tetris suit. They probably wouldn't talk to him normally!

Cblue · 22/06/2018 21:50

Thanks all... I think

She's not exactly defiant it was more of a "why should I dress like this?" And as much as I tried to think of a reason the only thing I could come up with was because "I want you to/everything else will"

So I kept my mouth shut! Disappointing in some ways but hey ho :(

I can at least admire all your DDs (even if I feel a bit jealous!) and can only think how much my DD would have LOVED @EllenJanethickerknickers DSs outfit. She might have even been tempted into a game of monopoly.....she would have also dragged a good few girls to join them

Let's hope @EllenJanethickerknickers finds some hot gamers!

Let's hope the after party (15 girls at a mates house) is as tame as I hope!!

Aragog · 22/06/2018 21:53

Wow Ellen; that's fabulous!

Cblue · 22/06/2018 21:57

@Stickerrocks - of course she is most likely to be PM, she's already HG ( I think your friend was a tad presumptions!!) We have some seriously competent/whacky/strong/gifted/determined DCs

....obviously take after their mums (and grandmothers @Sostenueto)....

Cblue · 22/06/2018 21:59
  • presumptuous!!!
PeggySchuylar · 22/06/2018 22:03

DD decided to go to prom after all! She’d prefer to play monopoly in a leather jacket.

I didn’t get good pics either.

Here she is having hair curled and then arriving at prom wearing a bowler hat

Fabulous, Peggy and I love all our quirky, non-conformist, monopoly playing, future PMs, and the just plain beautiful DC from this thread. Flowers

AlexanderHamilton · 23/06/2018 00:30

The before pics of prom were a bit rubbish due to blinding sunlight & shadows but I got a lovely picture afterwards.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 23/06/2018 00:50

That's a really beautiful dress, Alexander. I'm glad you managed to sort something out to get her there.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 23/06/2018 00:52

DS3 was nominated for 'brainiac' but his mate won it! Grin

HesMyLobster · 23/06/2018 09:15

I feel a bit cheated that DD doesn't have a prom, so very much enjoying all the photos and living vicariously through you all and your wonderful dc!

Especially loving the thought of monopoly at prom!

(Meant to post this last night but somehow put it on the A-level thread by mistake! Too much Gin celebrating end of exams!)

Cblue · 23/06/2018 09:59

@AlexanderHamilton -

Very similar dress to the one that DD didn't wear. Your DD looks beautiful (such a shame that mine decided to go rock chick instead of glamorous Sad)

Got a text at 1.30am to say she was now at her friends safe and sound and the after party was kicking off!!! Her DSF has just gone to collect her now so I will hopefully get the lowdown when she gets back.

On a positive note her 1.30 text was coherent so she can't have been too wasted despite the 1/2 bottle of vodka she persuaded me to buy!!!!

How did it go for all the DC sleeping in tents/going to after parties? - which is the wilder bit of the night hahaha

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 23/06/2018 10:09

cblue you've cheered me up! I was feeling anxious about the 2 bottles of magners I added to my weekly shop Blush

Loving the pictures! I might be brave enough to post one tonight.

The good news is the dress fits! Well it did yesterday. We've got 13yo dfc here for respite this weekend and she is make up artist extraordinaire!

The bad news is I've just asked her If she's got any homework and she needs to research Siegfried Sassoon for English Shock

Time to dig out the power and conflict books Sad

Cblue · 23/06/2018 10:15

@KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse

I worked on the basis that some of DCs parents wouldn't buy alcohol so her half bottle would be spread a long way

....and if the other DC did bring alcohol she would have been drinking anyway!!

She's also very sensible as teenagers so (or so I tell myself 🤔)

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 23/06/2018 10:21

Yes I agree cblue. The cider is for the after party and given the current chaos surrounding limos and lifts all over town it will be a miracle if both dd and her bag end up at the correct house at the same time.

And apparently Sassoon isn't one of the p&c poets. I clearly wasn't paying enough attention last month.
