Loose some of the biggest pains in the proverbial I teach have gone onto get fantastic exam results, but it's their impact on the rest of the class which is the issue and the knock on effect on their teachers. I love it when one of my students tells me they had a dreadful time at school, but now they're taking their final professional exams and have a great future ahead of them. It's just such a shame for those they disrupted along the way.

LooseAtTheSeams · 21/06/2018 11:32

Very true Stickerrocks! The Y6 group were all as bad as each other but if it had been one of them disrupting the rest they would have lost their place on the course for that reason. Also it was a short course so at least I could see the end in sight! (Adults can be a lot worse in my experience and really spoil things for other learners.)
I'll never forget my mistake in letting those Y6 kids sit on chairs with wheels...

Stickerrocks · 21/06/2018 11:34

We have a classroom with circular tables & chairs with wheels. I can only trust "proper grown ups" in there, because the younger students will spend their whole day swivelling & sit with their backs to me!

LooseAtTheSeams · 21/06/2018 11:44

I can just imagine Stickerrocks!
My first gcse class with 17 year olds led to a number of warnings about the potential injuries to themselves of leaning back in their chairs. Sigh.

brainmelt · 21/06/2018 11:47

Good luck everyone today and tomorrow, the end is near!!! 🍀🍀🍀 I am going to pop in less regularly too, following on teen's sample, in order to be more productive before I break for hols. I also wish to forget about GCSEs for a while Grin like I just woke up from a nightmare and everything is pink again...till the 23rd, that is. "See" you all then although I will be travelling at the time, Wifi unknown.
sost sending lots and lots of good energy for you.

KittiesInsane · 21/06/2018 11:47

PeggySchuylar Send her out to buy higher heels? Or stilts?

We have failed on the 'unusual prom transport' front. I have told DD she has two days to learn to ride the unicycle in the garage.

KittiesInsane · 21/06/2018 12:28

Goodness! I know this is the GCSE thread but can I have a quick derail here to mention that against all expectation, her autistic older brother has rung to say he's passed his 2nd year degree course?

JufusMum · 21/06/2018 12:34

...and we are done! DD said German went really well and she wrote about the concert last night!! Dropped her off at a friend's house for the afternoon :)

Oratory1 · 21/06/2018 12:39

Ha ha you can claim you knew that question would come up and it was essential revision !! Well done for finishing and huge best wishes for a great two years at 6 th form - you deserve it.

4 more hours to go here - 2 hour afternoon exam plus extra time !

GettinTrimmer · 21/06/2018 12:54

We've finished!! German was today I am at work and will find out how he did later...

We are off to 6th form college parents introduction this evening.

Jufus nice to hear your dd was OK today.

KittiesInsane · 21/06/2018 13:31

It'll brighten some poor exam marker's day if they work out that the candidate is writing about bunking off to go to a concert instead of revising German the night before!

Congratulations to Sostenueto and DGD too, and everyone else who finished today!

Sostenueto · 21/06/2018 14:08

Now, next big challenge is how to keep the DC occupied enough ( brainwise). Grin

Came home from treatment to find 4 posts put in in the garden ready for phase 3 done by dd and dgd and next door neighbour supervising (aged 84 and fit as fiddle!)ShockShock. They were posts I meant to put in before treatment but had ran out of steam! Also gardener had dug up and removed huge magnolia tree which has given much more light and space. Will be able to put sandpit in for dog when better.
Bless all who helped meStars and Halos

Sostenueto · 21/06/2018 14:10

DS2 not really into cake, but has a pile of new books on his current favourite subjects (D&D, marine biology) waiting for him when he gets home from Further Maths.

And to Third and Peaseblossom

slinkyme · 21/06/2018 14:56

Congrats to al finishing the exams today. Fabulous cake and banner - setting parenting goals to another level. Wink. Have a lovely summer. I will pop in here and there.

DD having a fantastically busy time since exams finished. From birthday celebrations, impromptu visits to see musicals and concerts, dinners and lunches and afternoon teas, time at my work and a camping weekend coming up. She is exhausted from having too much fun. Much prefer this to the exhaustion from the studies though. Poor thing is poorly too as I think all the stress is coming out now. She will need this summer to recuperate.

Oratory1 · 21/06/2018 14:57

an hour to go .....................

:) :)

PandaG · 21/06/2018 14:57

Phew, it is over! Just got to wait until Monday for DS to finish his A levels, and then we can all relax! Dinner out booked for Tuesday night. Hoorah!

AlexanderHamilton · 21/06/2018 14:58

Kitties - fantastic achievement.

It was prize day today and dd won a prize for musical contribution to the school.
