Hard to belive that I was here 5 years ago sweating it out for the results of his secondary school offer!

Only a few days now bwfore the GCSE results come out. DS is starting to get nervous....as am I!

My niece isn't confident either bless her. She put the graft in. None of us understand the new grading.

LineysRun · 24/08/2017 09:41

boopsy, once the dust has settled a bit please have a look at local(ish) sixth-form colleges and further education colleges. In my county the colleges sent lots of DC forward to good university places.

That was my son's route (his choice - he wanted a college not a school sixth form) and he's off to Reading University to study science next month.

He had to travel by train to college which was expensive, but it was worth it (and there was a small bursary).

Hope you work something out Flowers

Thefeelgoodfactor · 24/08/2017 09:42

Well my 'laid back Larry' did well.

Maths A*
Numeracy A*
Finance A*
English Lang A
Core Science A
English Lit B
Geography B
Additional Science B
IT B
RE B
Further Science C
Further Maths Pass
Welsh Bacc Pass

So he's delighted he's got what he needed to go to 6th form to do the A Level Maths, chemistry and biology 😀

Well done to everyone and hugs to those who didn't get what they needed.

My son doesn't want to go in to get his results. He has ASD and hates crowds. I've told him he can go in later when it all calms down.

Please fingers crossed for him. I just hope he passes all his exams.

Well done to those who got good grades (both his sisters got A* A and a couple of Bs) So he's up against it in performance. But, he's worked hard!

Flowers to him. I've not slept a wink last night!

MrsK · 24/08/2017 09:47

We're off to get results soon

Good luck to all

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/08/2017 09:51

B's in English and Maths, passed everything else, which is a massive achievement as he got D's in mocks at Xmas. Phew! Still in the car waiting for him to come out! Good luck to everyone!

UnbornMortificado · 24/08/2017 09:51

Good luck to all of them. It's my sisters year so I have my fingers crossed for her and all her friends I've watched grow up from tiny year 7's.

Elendon fingers crossed for your DS too 🍀

Lancelottie · 24/08/2017 09:52

I'm confused -- why are some results still coming out as A, B etc for English and Maths? I thought those had both gone over to 9-1 this year?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/08/2017 09:56

Ds's school still refers to grades as A,B etc even though grades are 1-9.

Some schools are still old system though.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 24/08/2017 09:58

Ds2 has left to meet his friends so they can all go together.

The further education place has their enrolment today as well.

I need more sleep

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/08/2017 09:58

I'm watching lots of kids come out of the school clutching their grades, all excited Smile

JufusMum · 24/08/2017 09:58

Does anyone know what a 2* is in health and social care BTEC? That's all it says!

Lancelottie · 24/08/2017 09:59

Ah, OK, thanks!
I imagine everyone is mentally translating 5, 7, 9 etc backwards into old-style C, A, A*-with-knobs-on anyway.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/08/2017 10:00

Well done to those who have results.

I'm sitting in my car outside school .... can hear a lot of cheering!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/08/2017 10:00

One lad insisting his mum stays in the car .... please mum get back in 😂😂

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/08/2017 10:01

Lancelottie that's exactly what they're doingSmile

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/08/2017 10:01

Thank god she's listened to him ... I might have had to intervene 😂😂

Frith1975 · 24/08/2017 10:01

3 Bs and 4Cs here. Not marvellous but more than enough for college.

The result that has confused us is the 4 in Eng Lit - predicted a 6 and the only subject he revised for and the easiest exam he sat! Not sure what went wrong there.

JufusMum · 24/08/2017 10:04

Anxiously sitting up the road waiting for DD English Literature sat a year early year 10. I feel sick.

TeenTimesTwo · 24/08/2017 10:04

jufus Are you sure it doesn't say D* for the BTEC?

TeenTimesTwo · 24/08/2017 10:05

Boopsy It used to be that you got your money back if the grade changed. Don't know if that is still the case.

CanIBuffalo · 24/08/2017 10:05

Also sitting in the car.

Elendon · 24/08/2017 10:09

Thanks Unborn.

Off now!

CanIBuffalo · 24/08/2017 10:09

Mine thinks he worked hard (he didn't) so while I'm hoping he gets onto his A level courses, I'm expecting it to be a wake up call around perceptions of what hard work really is.
