Hard to belive that I was here 5 years ago sweating it out for the results of his secondary school offer!

Only a few days now bwfore the GCSE results come out. DS is starting to get nervous....as am I!

BigSandy I suspect that is exactly why DS insisted on going on the bus with his mates - to avoid such a scene Grin.

I just wish he'd get in touch now though! Good or bad, the suspense is killing me!

GandolfBold · 24/08/2017 10:10

Mixed results here. An 8 in Maths but a 4 in English. He is 2 marks of the 5 boundary so it is being sent away to be remarked.

He needed a B in English to do his top a - level choice, so we are having to wait until he goes back in September to see if he will be accepted.

Like others, DS said he found the English literature paper quite easy going, and thought he had done well.

DiscoDiva70 · 24/08/2017 10:11

I'm sitting two streets away (had my orders) in the car waiting for ds and he's been gone over half an hour.
So now I'm imagining all sorts! Is he so upset that he doesn't want anyone to see his grades and that's why he's taking so long?
Or is he so happy with his grades that he's chatting with his mates?

I pray its the latter obviously. Calm down Disco, calm down.

FairNotFair · 24/08/2017 10:13

Me too, Disco. Sitting here in the car with every possible scenario running through my head...

Teddygirlonce · 24/08/2017 10:13

DS hasn't done as well as predicted - 2As, 8Bs and a C. He hasn't done well enough to get into his sixth form Sad- but apparently not alone (25-30 he reported haven't). He's been to see his Headmaster who says he's got a good chance of getting in but may have to revert to the fall-back option...

Oh dear...

DiscoDiva70 · 24/08/2017 10:16

FairNotFair

I'm almost dreading him coming around the corner as I'll be able to tell by the look on his face.

DiscoDiva70 · 24/08/2017 10:17

I just hope hes smiling!

NotAgainYoda · 24/08/2017 10:18

CanIbUffallo

Mine's just gone off to get his. I am thinking similar to you

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/08/2017 10:19

Dt1 passed 10, DT2 passed 9, no idea of grades yet as they're still in school but I'm very pleased indeed with that 👍🏼😊

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 24/08/2017 10:20

Nervous wife here but glad to report that DH passed his GCSE English with a C, at the age of 38!

He's got into the 2 year access diploma course he needs to go to get into uni.

He only passed one GCSE first time round (combination of lack of interest on his part and no parental push/input) but now has 3!

Just wanted to put this out there for all the parents and pupils who need a wee bit of encouragement this morning Smile

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/08/2017 10:20

Teddy they're fab results, his 6th form must have very high criteria!!

noblegiraffe · 24/08/2017 10:20

Just read that 51,500 grade 9s were awarded in total across the 3 reformed GCSEs and only 2000 students got 9s in all 3. Well done to the PP's DC who managed it! Amazing!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/08/2017 10:20

Ds just came back with his gaggle of mates , he's got B in sciences as well. Bloody hell WHAT a relief!

One of his mates is on the phone to his mum saying "I can't even get into the army with these results!" Poor boy Sad

Violetcharlotte · 24/08/2017 10:21

My DS can collect his between 10.30 and 12.30. I'm dreading it to be honest. He should really be getting C's, but didn't do much work and the school have been awful.

He makes out he doesn't care, but he does really.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/08/2017 10:22

Teddygirlonce goodness those are great grades, his 6th form must be very high achieving.

Mama1980 · 24/08/2017 10:22

My niece passed all 10 A* and A in maths English science history B in nearly everything else she is bouncing off the ceiling 😊

Commiserations to those who don't get what they needed.

booellesmum · 24/08/2017 10:24

Very happy DD.
I am very relieved and can now have a cup of tea!

LoniceraJaponica · 24/08/2017 10:24

RaskolnikovsGarret that's a fantastic result. Can I ask what type of school this is?

I'm surprised at the high GCSE boundaries for getting into 6th form for many people. At DD's school you need a minimum of 5 Cs including English and maths, and a minimum of a B in the subject you want to take at A level.

Allthebestnamesareused · 24/08/2017 10:25

Confusion - congrats to your DH. It is hard work fitting in study around work etc when you are a mature student and he and you should be rightfully proud.

CanIBuffalo · 24/08/2017 10:25

He's been accepted into 6th form but not told me his grades. Hmmm. Bracing myself and slapping a smile on.

EsmeMargaretNoteSpelling · 24/08/2017 10:28

Confusion: well done to your DH! I'm full of admiration for any adult prepared to put themselves out of their comfort zone and to do GCSEs as an adult takes real dedication. He must have a clear path mapped out in his mind and the determination to get there. Good on him!

Fleurdelise · 24/08/2017 10:30

Well DS's results reflect his effort (based on his true abilities) got 5 Bs, 4 Cs and a fail in PE as expected, we knew about this one and he wasn't allowed to drop it even though they knew he'd fail it before exam entrance.

Changed his options as he heard that a Btec Business Studies is worth two A levels (can somebody confirm that is correct?) and Geography, dropped biology as he got a B and he's been advised he will find it hard even with a B. Disappointed initially but then I remembered my niece choosing physics and chemistry and getting bad results and dropping out a year later, in the end I said to him to do whatever as long as he sticks to it and gets good results as he wants to go to uni.

EsmeMargaretNoteSpelling · 24/08/2017 10:30

DDs other bestie has got straight A*s... eek! Wants to go to Cambridge so looks like the first step has been made. She's so lovely and modest as well!

Mountainviewloo · 24/08/2017 10:33

still waiting here. am a wreck.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/08/2017 10:33

So when all of the gcses are reformed noble, it looks like it will only be a small number indeed that get 9's across the board.
