Is it too soon to start a 1st March (secondary school allocation day) support thread?

DD has six good options on her CAF - we will be happy if she gets any of those six but there are no other local schools we would be happy for her to be allocated/offered Shock - and private schooling is not an option.

So just a bit nervous and already counting down the days until we find out which school she's been allocated (if at all).

Tiggytape, thank you. I'm off to bed to not sleep Sad

JustEatYourDinner · 28/02/2017 23:17

Our says afternoon but I am still at work so will check the website anyway.

42 minutes to go

SquidgeyMidgey · 28/02/2017 23:23

I've been really calm till this evening but it's getting to me now.

I have an image in my mind of just after DS was born, of DH sitting beside me, cradling him, and a dark window in front of me with snow falling outside. Where have those years gone... bah.

damnedgrubble · 28/02/2017 23:41

20 minutes...then I really need to get some sleep instead of eating chocolate we'd better get the place that DS has been looking forward to; he's outgrown his current school, much like many of those waiting for high school I expect.

Corialanusburt · 01/03/2017 00:26

Are you all logging in, or receiving emails?

Trb17 · 01/03/2017 00:27

I logged in. No email yet.

Congrats to all with good news. Fingers crossed for everyone else.

bellabelly · 01/03/2017 00:29

Oh gosh, this'll be me next year (DTs are in Y5). Good luck to everyone - hope you all get your first choices. Later in the year, do please post any helpful tips for staying sane and reducing / avoiding stress throughout whole process. Congrats to those of you who've already had good news - Kerala, your post made me laugh, that's def something to celebrate!

Theromanempire · 01/03/2017 00:30

So I have logged in, got no.2 choice which I expected as no.1 was a total long shot. For no.1, it says 'place requested'..does anyone know if I respond to both? I don't want to accept the offer and lose my place on the waiting list for no.1 but also I don't want to lose my offer Confused

PerspicaciaTick · 01/03/2017 00:34

Theroman - accept your offer and then give the LA a call to check you are on the waiting list for no.1

Itsgettingbetter · 01/03/2017 00:49

Congrats to those with good news so far!

Is this E admissions you are getting your news from?

Myfanwyprice · 01/03/2017 00:49

Got our 2nd choice, thought I'd be ok with that, have said all along I'd be happy with 1st or 2nd, but actually gutted and having a little cry!

Ds will be delighted, he wanted the 2nd choice, just worried it's not the right school for him. Obviously could appeal, but he'll be so pleased and it is him that has to go there every day.

SoulAccount · 01/03/2017 00:51

Theroman: it will not disadvantage your chances for place at your top school if you accept the place.

Always accept the place, then get on waiting lists, and consider an appeal.

Theromanempire · 01/03/2017 00:57

Thank you, there is a button to 'respond' next to each choice so do I respond to both? Will I not automatically go on the waiting list for no.1?

No point in appealing as we will have no grounds for it - we knew DS would be in the bottom category for admissions and he wouldn't have got in for the last 2 years either.

iMatter · 01/03/2017 00:59

Hampshire in.

Ds2 got our first choice. So so so pleased. Grin

Good luck everyone

4men1lady · 01/03/2017 01:09

Absolutely gutted.
Didn't get any of our top 3.
Any advice on winning an appeal??

Sillysausages007 · 01/03/2017 03:01

Got our 2nd choice. Happy. Now have to try to get back to sleep.
