Is it too soon to start a 1st March (secondary school allocation day) support thread?

DD has six good options on her CAF - we will be happy if she gets any of those six but there are no other local schools we would be happy for her to be allocated/offered Shock - and private schooling is not an option.

So just a bit nervous and already counting down the days until we find out which school she's been allocated (if at all).

So who else is staying up until midnight to log and and have a look? It's my day off tomorrow so I'm going to stay up.

iMatter · 28/02/2017 16:33

Hahaha Trb17 - I did exactly the same thing about half an hour ago!

Trb17 · 28/02/2017 16:34

I'm staying up. Its driving me mad so no point trying to sleep until I know. My day off tomorrow too Smile

Trb17 · 28/02/2017 16:35

iMatter ha ha great minds Grin

Buttercupsandaisies · 28/02/2017 16:35

I was going to stay up but Lancashire are saying it only goes live in the morning!

I'm almost 100% guaranteed first choice but it'll still be nice to have it in writing

Buttercupsandaisies · 28/02/2017 16:37

Actually it says emails sent in the morning - it could be that the online is earlier but if I remember rightly from primary, someone had to activate it (last time it was 5pm) so I'm guessing it's 9am

atheistmantis · 28/02/2017 16:45

Trb and iMatter - so did I. I may have checked more than once

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 28/02/2017 16:45

Is it tomorrow for the whole of UK? DN is waiting to hear about her high school place (moving up from middle school). Will that be tomorrow? For some reason I thought it was April Confused.

SirRaymondClench · 28/02/2017 16:47

Can I ask (as this is the first time I've done this) if DD doesn't get her first choice what do I have to do to appeal it? Will it come up as an option on the Local Council website or do I go directly to through the school itself?

Trb17 · 28/02/2017 16:50

atheistmantis Grin I only checked once today

justgivemethepinot · 28/02/2017 16:52

It's tomorrow for middle schools to high schools as well, mid April is first/primary to middle/high.

SirRaymondClench · 28/02/2017 17:10

Thank you Tiggy let's hope I don't need to appeal but good to know where to come if we do.

Good luck everyone! Hope you all get the place you want! Wine

atheistmantis · 28/02/2017 17:10

trb so, are we having a competition to see who is first to check the offer and accept it? last time I accepted the place before 5 past midnight

Trb17 · 28/02/2017 17:11

Thanks for the tip tiggytape. If we need to appeal I'll follow your advice.

Trb17 · 28/02/2017 17:13

Ha ha! I might lose as if I get first preference I'll be delayed due to dancing around the living room but you're on atheistmantis Grin

dancemom · 28/02/2017 17:16

It's only for England not the whole country!

Scotland don't announce till April 30th!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 28/02/2017 17:23

Thank you everyone!

Tomorrow it is then.

JonSnowsWhore · 28/02/2017 17:23

Sorry for not RTFT but trying to cook pancakes lol

What has been the outcome, is it emails by a certain time, after a certain time or will it be on the websites if we log in in the morning?

Thanks Smile

Good Luck everyone. I have been here before and it is a ridiculously stressful time. Three years ago I followed advice regarding appeals on here for my DS's best friend who didn't get into same school. His Mum was seriously ill so I took on the appeal process for her, although she managed to represent herself at appeal and won. So, if you don't get your first choice, all is not lost, you may just have another battle to take on. The advice from tiggytape and admissions regarding appeals was amazing. My oldest DD is now leaving the school we fought so hard for. Don't think getting a place is your last battle - there are many issues, stresses and strains along the way and you will probably hate your once desired school by the time they leave! I suppose it's called parenting to our best ability - muddling along..........

atheistmantis · 28/02/2017 17:58

Trb ok if I'm sober
We are fairly confident of getting the school we want, woodlands I hear you but we're in the situation of DS1 leaving the school this year and I like it as much as I do when he started there. Yes, fellow secondary school applications, we have been doing university and secondary school applications in the same year. It's fun...I think!

atheistmantis · 28/02/2017 18:09

I just went to the local authority website and the admissions page has now changed to add a 'view your offer' button but just shows you the application at the moment.

We will need uniform with logos on it as well, all except the shirts and trousers. The school are strict on uniform (good) and specify barcodes for uniform from all the main supermarkets and only those items are acceptable. They sell the badges as well so you can buy them and sew them on the blazers rather than buying an already badged one from the uniform shop.

DS1 has uniform that we hoped we could pass down but DS2 is only an inch shorter than DS1 so most of it won't fit for more than a couple of months so we will be buying new. Football boots etc can't be passed on because DS2 has larger feet than DS1.

I've just been onto our LA site too (for the first time, obviously .....). Might be joining the rest of you in a midnight vigil. Anyone got popcorn?
