oh no blue :( I hope he can shake it off really quickly.

Hot and cold, coughing and very grumpy! Certainly don't want DS catching it - what a disaster that would be!

Stay germ free all...

FantasyAndHope · 15/05/2016 11:37

Health wise DD is fine, period has being thankfully she does have a case of athletes foot, very itchy, bought some cream for it, but of course to them it's like the world is ending when their ill in exam time

fidelix · 15/05/2016 12:58

Long-time lurker here. :)

Does anyone know with IGCSE French on Tues if it matters if they write too much ie go over the word limit on the writing sections?

DD did a practice French paper and wrote 99 words on a question requiring 50!

We have a sore throat/temperature bug doing the rounds in our house at the moment. Praying it avoids DD...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2016 13:14

welcome fidelx :) have you looked at the mark scheme?

Now pointed dd in the direction of examiners comments for science, partly cos they are hilarious and partly because they are a really good way of getting rid of misconceptions.

OP posts:
FantasyAndHope · 15/05/2016 13:16

fid
DD said they don't mind as long as it isn't significantly over so for the 50 not writing 200 as they tend to waffle and not stick to the task as long as there is no ambiguity it's fine

fidelix · 15/05/2016 13:35

Thank you. :)

That's what DD said she thought, but her reliability is not brilliant. It's not mentioned on the mark scheme but haven't tried the examiner's report, thanks. I'll have a look. :)

2gorgeousboys · 15/05/2016 18:32

Mind if I join you? DS1 has his first exam (AQA core science) on Tuesday. He's spent today doing some past papers and then filling in gaps in his knowledge with revision.

DS2 seems to have come down with something, he's got a temperature and has been asleep on the sofa for most of the day. I'm desperately trying to quarantine him so DS1 doesn't get it!

FantasyAndHope · 15/05/2016 18:38

DD thankfully doesn't get ill other than period pain. Fingers crossed her period will be kind to her this month

BlueGazebo · 15/05/2016 19:53

DP is not good - appears to be flu or a severe cold. He feels awful and won't be able to go to work. I've told DS to wash his hands a lot and not to touch his mouth, nose or eyes. I'm going to get some of that defence stuff tomorrow that you put in your nose. He's only got one exam next week but 4 the week after and then it's half term. Pleeeeeaaaaasssse don't catch it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2016 19:55

oh no blue. Lots of vitamin c too and you can get that anti viral stuff that lasts for a few hours to put on his hands.
Can your dp not move into the shed?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2016 19:57

Welcome 2Gorgeous. We need a quarantine corner on this thread to shove all of the sick people in. I hope your ds doesn't share it.

I was taught chemistry today. I learned loads that I've forgotten!

OP posts:
BlueGazebo · 15/05/2016 20:15

I would love him to be out of the house. It's a worry. He looks terrible and is moaning and groaning. If DS catches it, it will be a disaster. I've already got DS on "Well Teen plus Omega 3" to "help maintain normal brain function". LOL! I've just checked and it also contains 80mg of Vit C. I might get some more tomorrow - some of that fizzy orange stuff.

My revision this afternoon has been a past paper on RS studies. I have been suitably lectured at and my reward was reading the examiner's report.

OhYouBadBadKitten the chemistry challenge was this morning, we were joking that the likely answers were "a white precipitate", "gives off a gas" or "what mum just said". It was my favourite subject and I have forgotten a lot but now and again I can pull together enough to impress.

derektheladyhamster · 15/05/2016 20:54

I'm feeling a little out of control as DS is doing all his revision at school now, so I'm hoping that he does know it all and just needs to top up as such.

He needs A* in chemistry & biology, so the pressure is on this week!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2016 21:09

I think I might buy some of that omega stuff! Try not to worry too much blue, teens are pretty resilient, they meet loads of germs at school, so hopefully their immune systems are on full sentry duty.

I'm sure it will be fine Derek, just keep shouting at him (or texting) white precipitate!

Wine for everyone tonight.

littledrummergirl · 15/05/2016 21:16

Hi to all the lurkers who have joined us recently. Wine
We had a lovely day today. Ds1 is nice and relaxed again. He has a biology revision session tomorrow ready for Tuesday.

We have joked about the inbetweeners- not doing a Will on the night before Grin

228agreenend · 15/05/2016 21:18

Ds1, dh and I all had the T..co version of the fizzy orange vitamin stuff today. Ds 1 seems to be okay. I feel less well, and could do with an early night.

228agreenend · 15/05/2016 21:18

Think I need to go to the Quarantine Corner!

FantasyAndHope · 15/05/2016 21:39

DD was revising R.S on train she has already done and gained an A* in R.S gcse AQA full course, so isn't too bothered about tomorrow has done some revision I've texted to see what she's up to as she's only just stopped revising Shock told her not to overdo it

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2016 21:56

oh no 228! get better soon.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/05/2016 08:38

How are all the germy people today?

OP posts:
ShanghaiDiva · 16/05/2016 08:39

Good luck to everyone with exams today and hope immune systems are working overtime in homes where there are germs lurking.

situatedknowledge · 16/05/2016 08:58

DD's first exam today, and trotted off to school with a beautiful smile on her face. Let's hope that continues!
