Oh Dream your poor DD, nobody should have to experience that. I hope she knows that they absolutely don't deserve her and that not all boys share such disgusting attitudes.

Just a quick heads up about prom transport - dd1's was 2 years ago (end of year 9) and we booked her groups' car in December.

Dd2 has hers this year and her group couldn't make up their minds what kind of car they wanted, so I only booked theirs a couple of weeks ago. It took ALOT of phoning around - most places were already booked up in our area. Confused

DD didn't get home from dance until 6pm yesterday but she did manage 2 hours of revision in the evening, and had done a few quizzes on her science app through the day. Hopefully she'll do the same today. Then a full day of revision tomorrow.

She is feeling better about history now her room is covered in mind maps!

Now it's science that's worrying her - she thinks she'd have been better doing double rather than triple (no interest in doing sciency Alevels) but they weren't really given a choice.

Hooray for the cue cards Strong one! Wink

ExitPursuedByABear · 31/03/2016 12:16

For some reason none of DDs friends are stressing about transport to the prom. Not sure if that ship has sailed. It is being held only half a mile from us - I have suggested that they can walk here for the after party but not sure if the girls will manage in heels Grin - especially if they come down the back passage!

When do your dcs have their first exams? Ds has iGCES and AS maths this year so will not finish until June 15th.
We are in China and first one is April 26th ICT practical - CIE board - and tomorrow is 1st April - eek! Roll on June 16th.

ExitPursuedByABear · 31/03/2016 13:38

First exam 17th May, last exam 17th June.

Icouldbeknitting · 31/03/2016 13:42

I think we are the same as Exit (wanders into kitchen to check). Yes, starts with biology on 17/5 and ends with physics 17/6.

All controlled assessments/speaking/practical exams already complete.
(Or will be once the drama practical is finally done - re arranged again for 2nd day of term!)

First exam - French reading/listening
17th May

Final exam - Further Maths
24th June

They seem to be fairly evenly spread for DD.

Dream well done to your DD, the little girl really will be the most knowledgable 8 year old in class!

It's a brilliant way to process/consolidate revision to teach somebody else. Probably the best thing she could do.

dreams - remind your dd to look up dome volcanoes - there are three types (I have quite an interest in vulcanology!)

I think I might remind dd that if she wants to go in some sort of vehicle she ought to get it sorted. There is still the hiccup of none of them knowing when prom starts!

She is doing edexel A2. They have finished all the units now and she is less worried about it now that she's made mind maps for each unit.
When they did mocks they hadn't finished the unit on Russia so DD taught herself some bits from the revision guide just in case, despite me telling her that she didn't need to.

She says now that the information she researched and taught herself is the part she knows best, so I'd say it's worth having a look.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/03/2016 14:12

flipping gcses! I'll never understand how they pick and choose such random content!

Thank heavens for you tube. All the poems DS is doing are on there. It's not an anthology as such, so I'm relieved. Michael Daly is the presenter/teacher....

History revision is based purely on mind maps at the moment, and I'm stunned by the amount of Spanish work he has to complete. I wonder if the teachers remember they have 9 other subjects to revise for Hmm

DS1 is also doing Cold War, Germany & Britain for History GCSE. He did some stuff on Russia but that was assessed as controlled assessment. He wants to do History A-level so needs to do well.

TheSecondOfHerName · 31/03/2016 15:04

ShanghaiDiva

DS1's first exam is 4th May: Biology iGCSE (CIE board) Alternative to Practical.

Last exam is 14th June: History GCSE (OCR) Britain 1890-1918

TheDrsDocMartens · 31/03/2016 15:41

dream that's awful

Exams are 16th may-17th June for dd1. Quite a good split between before/after half term.

I just thought you'd gone quiet on the other thread and I don't do make up so hadn't felt the need to post Blush
