Aunt I hope he's arrived safely by now.

DD is 16! We celebrated with a day out with our friends at an Alpine resort with walks/mountain biking and thermal hot pools an narrowly escaping her doing a bungy jump. But she has her eye on doing one in Queenstown Shock

serendipity200 · 26/07/2015 15:39

Is it normal practice for a private school to ask for a stamped addressed envelope to send GCSE results out if you are unable to make it in person?, or was DS1 school incredibly generous 2 years ago. DDs school has asked us to send in an SAE to receive results, thought it was a bit much given we had to pay for a terms lunch fees for 3 weeks of eating!

HSMMaCM · 26/07/2015 17:05

Don't know about private, but DD's state school are posting them to anyone who doesn't collect them. No charge.

spudmasher · 26/07/2015 19:21

We are being emailed. Private.

sblomberg · 27/07/2015 08:32

State school here, and we have to provide SAE. Mind you we are having it sent to an address other than our own, so mybe it is just as well. I grumbled further up the thread about the refusal to communicate results by email. The post is not reliable enough imo; we have often not received things. Lately I waited 3 wks for a cheque sent to me 1st class!

ErrolTheDragon · 27/07/2015 22:51

DD spontaneously tidied her room today!Grin And already working out how many folders she wants for sixth form.

HSMMaCM · 29/07/2015 17:51

21 days 15 hours.

DD went for a job interview today. She should hear tomorrow if she has the job.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/07/2015 22:32

Good for her - hope she gets it!

DH annoyed DD today by doing that calculation. Grin

bigTillyMint · 29/07/2015 22:36

Good luck HSMs DD.

Here DD is supposed to be doing homework for her first choice sixth form...

SugarPlumTree · 30/07/2015 06:12

Fingers crossed HSM. Errol, send your DD here please, she might rub off on DD !

Art holiday homework has arrived here. And there are a few discussions as to whether we should be looking at colllege as Japan was quite life changing and I think she'd benefit from a college rather than 6th form. But she isn't going to get 5 abs whereas current school will count her other Japanese one I doubt other places will. So she'll probably have to stay where she is.

HSMMaCM · 30/07/2015 07:59

Sugar you can only ask about the Japanese. Nothing to lose.

Quickly got wifi in a cafe! Hope everyone's well. Hope dd gets good news about the job HSM. DS is having the time of his life in Japan, he's done his home hospitality and is now on site, up at 4am everyday to avoid the heat of the day apparently 35°today. I am loving the pics on twitter and fb as the only way to see what he's up to, i spotted his feet in a pic of a paddling pool to dds amusement.

BTM am well impressed with your dd, did you not have a go?

canny1234 · 30/07/2015 11:30

We are being e mailed too.Its the day before we return home from holiday much to dd's annoyance. But,she has been scuba diving today on a coral reef as part of her summer holiday so maybe she might forgive me......or maybe not.Like the other descriptions here dd1_has been somewhat horrible this holiday ,once the work experience finished.
Absolutely none of the school reading list has been attempted yet, even though several texts have been downloaded on her kindle. We've already had our regular holiday dose of food poisoning - only myself and the 2 ds's.The girls escaped luckily as did the rest of the group. The number of times I've been isolated in hotel rooms with vomiting ds's is pretty high.Apart from that the sea is a glorious blue and the fish feed from your hand if you have left-over bread from breakfast.

HSMMaCM · 30/07/2015 18:43

Yay ... DD got the job Grin

Brilliant HSMMaCM Smile

SugarPlumTree · 30/07/2015 19:37

Brilliant, a big well done to her SmileStar

I think on balance DD better off where she is looking at prospectus due to courses.

bigTillyMint · 30/07/2015 20:44

AuntP, absolutely no chance of anyone else in the family doing a bungy jumpGrin DD is strangely confident with high wires and the like (must be down to all the years of gymnastics) - why she can't transfer that confidence to daily school life, I just don't get!

Well done HSMs DD! What is the job?

HSMMaCM · 30/07/2015 21:07

Working in a cafe at the local garden centre. She's really looking forward to it Grin

Great - DDs friend is currently working in a restaurant and it's hard work! Would love DD to get a taste of thatWink

SugarPlumTree · 31/07/2015 10:42

Flipping heck BTM, fair play to your DD!!

Friend's DD does similar job HSM abs enjoys it.

spudmasher · 31/07/2015 19:23

Lost you all for a couple of days there. Keep the thread going ladies! I think we are going to need it!

DD has done two weeks of a three week summer job. It got very exciting at the end of last week as she was cast in a big hotel chain advert and was filming for a couple of days so didn't go in. Luckily she still has the job and can see it through until the next Saturday then her holiday can begin. A week in UK then a week abroad (results abroad.....doh!)

She's found getting up for work every morning pretty tough (except for the ad when a car came and took her and delivered her back again....what the even heck) But good to have a glimpse of the daily grind.

HSMMaCM · 31/07/2015 20:38

Exciting stuff spud.

Horsemad · 31/07/2015 21:17

The filming sounds great Spud, Smile DS is en route home from his trip! Due into Heathrow tomorrow morning. It's gone really fast. Haven't heard from him since he left, so no idea how it's gone for him! Shock

switchitoff · 01/08/2015 08:16

Hey Horsemad, our sons may be in Heathrow Arrivals at the same time! My DS1 is also currently up in the air, due to arrive later this morning. However, he's flying out elsewhere tomorrow afternoon, so I have a lovely day of washing, ironing and re-packing coming up.

We counted up and he's doing 11 flights this summer holidays. I hate flying, so that's 11 times I will be biting my nails to the quick and obsessively tracking his flight until he's safely on the ground. Blush Don't think this parenting lark gets any easier.

HSMMaCM · 01/08/2015 08:46

11 flights !!!!
