too many GCSEs for too long

My son has been doing GCSE's now for at least 3 weeks and still has 8 more exams to go with his last one on 19th June. I find it cruel. I was brought up and educated in The Netherlands. We had all our exams in 2 weeks (max 2 per day). Over and done.
Does anyone agree with me that GCSEs are too many weeks of endless exams?

Schools generally admit that A/A students are sacrificed for C/D students when it comes to giving or not giving study leave.*

Really? What a load of bollocks. Schools get judged on progress these days - where kids end up vs where they started. It's simply not the case that they're only interested in C grades. We've run separate A/A* revision classes for core subjects - I can't imagine we're the only school to have done so.

Well of course we get judged on both, but in the schools I've worked in which don't give study leave, that's an acknowledged issue/risk . Having said that, we do turn a blind eye to the A* star kids staying at home, so maybe it doesn't really work out like that in the end.

Do your revision sessions work in silence? Because ours don't - and so, personally, I wouldn't be able to revise in them.

Ds has 24 actual exam papers
rs x 4
Biology x 4
chemistry x 3
physics x 3
it x 1
eng language x 2
engine lit x 2
drama x 1
geography x 2
maths x 2

We've got 7 left to do and he started on 11th May

Not all A* students want silence for revision. Those who do can go elsewhere although of course there is an issue with kids being unsupervised.

Ah, that's different . There is literally nowhere quiet in our school .. Even the library has classes moved in because of room swaps for exams .
