There. I've done it and started one.

Is interesting that the 2 threads cover quite different ground, and Alleyn's comes up more often here than there! It started off very Croydon schools specific but I have unearthed a few more central people. How many oeoke are flitting between the2 like me? What will I do with myself come March when state school offers out??

ealingwestmum · 12/02/2015 18:15

We'll probably come back with wise words of wisdom for the next year's intake Smile

Been my life line actually, especially for research and understanding this ridiculous process.

Real world: cloak and dagger; parents lack of truthfulness and general back stabbing (why?) etc. BUT, great people watching!

MN world: bunch of mums (and odd dads) that are supportive, honest, and good humoured when pressure's on with a genuine sense of good will for all.

However, I may get some work done which would be really good to continue paying for these fees if all works out!

Errr not odd, thank you Grin

ealingwestmum · 12/02/2015 18:41

And I may get to sleep normally and learn to write properly again without being offensive Grin

DarkBlueEyes · 12/02/2015 19:40

I would just like to have another topic of conversation and to not be afraid of upsetting anyone for fear of saying the wrong thing though I'm sure I have done this, even today. Sad

I'm boring myself.

I also don't want to be the one everyone feels sorry for eitherSad which is not a nice place to be. Particularly when I AM genuinely happy for my friends whose children who have places even though I am secretly envious

I just want everyone to get a school they are hoppy with and works doe their family so I can go back to moaning about something else!!'

wheresthebeach · 12/02/2015 20:10

Its tricky isn't it? You want to congratulate people but not sure if its safe to ask. If you ask a friend if its safe to congratulate someone then you're gossiping. If someone gets a scholarship and you don't congratulate them it looks like sour grapes...when in reality your just not in the loop.

Its a minefield.

I'm boring DH to death (he's pro state so you can imagine the sympathy I'm getting...).

Shall we start a thread complaining about the weather?

GJHmum1 · 12/02/2015 20:13

I agree it'll be good to move on from schools - it's all I have thought about for the past 6 weeks. My productivity at work has nose dived too. I need a reality check ... mind you that night come tomorrow Confused

castlesintheair · 12/02/2015 20:14

I must say it's nice being out of the country at the moment.

Perhaps we should start discussing deflation and quantitative easing Grin

wheresthebeach · 12/02/2015 20:30

Let's just go straight into the election shall we? Easier all round...

Dinocroc · 12/02/2015 20:53

Post tomorrow! Just had a very uninspiring parents evening, was feeling quite optimistic before that .hmmmmmm. But now watching 'catastrophe' which is very funny and I recommend as distraction therapy Smile

DarkBlueEyes · 12/02/2015 21:19

I can tell you that having the menopause whilst going through all this is not recommended....

DarkBlueEyes · 13/02/2015 08:12

Good luck everyone!!!!!

mertonmama · 13/02/2015 08:27

Wishing all waiting for the post the very best. At work this morning and won't be home till this PM so will check in on you all whilst 'working'.

Thinking about a nice treat for DD tonight. Maybe movie of her choice from Sky and a box of chocs for her and red wine for me. Anyone else have plans?

Dinocroc · 13/02/2015 09:10

Yes good luck all. I'm at work too. Will have to wait till the afternoon Grin

PeppermintDrop99 · 13/02/2015 09:25

mertonmam Regardless of offers, we'll be treating DD to dinner at her favourite restaurant tonight! Still looking through the window, waiting for the postman...

(I've been lurking on this and other threads for some time, but was too shy to post...thanks ALL for keeping me sane through this VERY STRESSFUL process. Been up since 4.30am worrying)

PeppermintDrop99 · 13/02/2015 09:28

Sorry! I meant metromama Doh!

PeppermintDrop99 · 13/02/2015 09:31

Oh my gosh! Now you can see why I don't post... I'm such a klutz! I mean mertonmama.... I WILL get name right! Eventually.

Waitingandhoping2015 · 13/02/2015 09:54

Nice early postman and a place at Hampton with an all rounder scholarship so happy daze here Smile

DarkBlueEyes · 13/02/2015 10:09

Oh my goodness that is brilliant! Well done to your DS.

Nothing here yet but then I'm not really expecting good news so no idea why I'm hoping...

citymum3 · 13/02/2015 10:39

Happy and a bit dazed here too. Partly as the post usually comes at about 2. Partly as so proud of DS. Good luck.
3 offers, 2 in A4 envelopes, one in A5. Hope that helps!!!

DarkBlueEyes · 13/02/2015 10:51

I wish there was an emoticon for despair.

I suppose I should be happy that it wasn't a no. Wait list for us NHE, which makes three wait lists and one offer and one no. was it really worth it

zumbaqueen · 13/02/2015 10:51

Fingers crossed for you all. Wine, chocs and a film sounds the right choice whatever the news.

Bobisyouraunt · 13/02/2015 11:13

Waiting for three letters today and feeling sick. DD said I was not to open the letters without her, but if they come how can I wait? Should I?

ealingwestmum · 13/02/2015 11:33

Congratulations to those with the results that you wanted, and fingers x'd that the wait lists start to move asap!

Am in process of handing back 3 offers (this includes DD's existing school who have been exceptional throughout in spite of us looking outside) as we have all collectively agreed on the front runner and to accept the place without delay.

Dark - 3 wait lists, not 3 nos...your DD's done really really well with an offer in the bag...I am sure the right school will come from this for her in the coming weeks.

biascutshirt · 13/02/2015 11:54

Did anyone get an offer from Latymer Upper? I have a thick A5 envelope from them but not allowed to open it without DC after school!
