i am sure you'll get an offer from SHS soon. My friend who is on the list (they wouldn't tell her where she was on the list though) was told last year ALL girls on the wait list got a place, in the end.

I doubt they will start offering on the wait list til after the deadline for acceptances when they have a clearer idea of numbers. 3rd March i think. When do you have to accept St C?

Waitingandhoping2015 · 10/02/2015 13:17

I read a thread on elevenplusforum (Independent schools, re releasing unwanted offers) about this and it sounds like they will go the wait list as early as they can - ie they monitor it on an ongoing basis and I guess if the proportion of rejected offers starts stacking up then they will start on the reserve list sooner rather than might be expected.

candymad · 10/02/2015 14:01

Does anyone have any feedback on how the girls' offers went at KGS? Was it that the girls who got general interviews got offers but the girls with subject interview got waiting list places? This seems to have happened at my son's school, but now I'm worried as he had an english interview.
Does anyone know how much the waiting list moves?

GJHmum1 · 10/02/2015 14:45

i have heard that is mostly the way they do it Candymad but I can't be sure. A friend of mine who has a son there says you 'have reason to be optimistic' if you have a general interview but Its all speculation until Friday. Fingers crossed.

Afrodizziac · 10/02/2015 15:22

Do we know where the 26/40 stat came from for KGS10+?

Yeah, I'm tired now of hoping for a yes and expecting a no. DH says it is just like me to prepare DD for possible 'failure' i.e. not getting a place (I never used the word failure - I keep telling her how proud we are of her regardless). DD is relentlessly cheerful through it all.

Only three days more... DD wants to open the letter herself so I'll have to sit on my hands and resist the impulse to tear open the letter 'til she comes home from school.

Waitingandhoping2015 · 10/02/2015 15:53

DS wants to open the letter on Friday too, and he can because it's an Inset/teachers in the pub for a long lunch holiday Day. Shock

julieh1 · 10/02/2015 15:54

Gatecrashing as my DD is much younger than yours but would appreciate your advice given your knowledge and experience of 10/11+.

DD is in a school she adores but is not very academic and doesn't have a great record with next schools.

She has the chance of an in year place at JAPS and I gather pretty much all the JAPS girls go on to JAGS although not automatic.

Is it worth taking the place now to try and minimise stress at 11+ (have just done 7+ with our DS which has been an absolute nightmare) even though she will probably be upset to leave her friends?

Thanks and good luck with all your results.

duderanch · 10/02/2015 16:04

julieh 1
In short. If that's where you'd be happy for her to go at 11. YES! Having just gone through the 11+ for the second time I would try and avoid it if you can. Although, there are more choices for girls at 11+ in central, W and SW London.

wheresthebeach · 10/02/2015 16:07

Afrod Shock...I admire you. No way I could resist. Mind you...I guess we kinda know by the size of the envelop...sigh.

julieh1 · 10/02/2015 16:08

Thanks, that's what I thought and we'd be happy with the senior school. She is going to be very cross though.

wheresthebeach · 10/02/2015 16:19

Of course now I'm wishing I sat her for more schools...anyone else second guessing the decisions that made months ago?

Confused
Dinocroc · 10/02/2015 16:45

Hey there waiters. The KGS link they sent me when I entered the 10+ said they interview 40 for 25 places. So it's from the horses mouth. My DS doesn't even know when the results get sent . I do though Smile

ealingwestmum · 10/02/2015 16:46

Back Grin

Thank goodness there are only a few days left to play the what if game. Becoming so far fetched now, sometimes with a little what if school x offered a music award/% off fees, but school y ONLY an offer.

Note bored, not delusional that we moved on from the will she/won't she get an offer/s - but it spiced things up a little to kill time!

mertonmama · 10/02/2015 17:50

Julieh 1 - if you have the chance of a 7+ place and it won't be too much of a stretch financially I would definitely take it. DS1 and DS2 both did 7+ and it's been great not to have to think about where they're going next - their junior school leads into a senior school.

Of course you still need to pass the entrance exam but it's far more straightforward than coming in from externally and quite rare not to pass.

We could have done 7+ with DD but weren't sure which Senior School she would suit and didn't want to have to move her again at 11+. She's really enjoyed staying at the same state primary from nursery to year 6.

Chocfinger · 10/02/2015 18:39

Candymad
Both my DD and her good friend had English interviews at KGS, both were offered a place. Good luck for Friday, how frustrating the boys have to wait that much longer

candymad · 10/02/2015 18:49

Thank you for that Chocfinger, I'm feeling a bit more optimistic now. It's so frustrating having to wait until Friday and Saturday and it's getting worse as we're getting nearer!

zumbaqueen · 10/02/2015 20:36

I know people too ( 11+) who got offers from KGS after specific English interview.
I haven't told my DD when we get the letters-don't see that we all need to join in this wonderful waiting game. Roll on Friday.

Pop1ns · 10/02/2015 20:47

FAO Afrodizziac,Waiting2015 and Wheresthebeach.
We have a 10+ KGS place and we got a big bumf envelope and within you get an offer letter written direct to DC.Let DC open this one and hide the more official parts and your consciences will be clear.

zumbaqueen · 10/02/2015 20:52

Freaking me out Pop1ns. Is that from last yr (praying that the yes' haven't been sent out early)? Ie entry Sep 2015. Breathing into paper bag.

Waitingandhoping2015 · 10/02/2015 20:58

Thanks Pop1ns but we're waiting for Hampton and I have heard that greater size does make a difference...

wheresthebeach · 10/02/2015 21:16

So size DOES matter...Wink

Dinocroc · 10/02/2015 21:33

Ooooh pop1ns thanks. If it is good news I will do that thanks. It's size and what you do with it then....

GJHmum1 · 10/02/2015 21:57

Apparently for KGS offers size doesn't matter!!

Chillaxalready · 10/02/2015 22:13

You know how I was waiting and waiting for the KGS offer letter for DD? And I finally got in touch with the Register who couldn't explain why we hadn't received a letter? And she said she would send 'another one'? And when I asked for feedback she couldn't seem to find any information about her?

Got a letter today. In it they thank my child for attending "HIS recent interview".

THEY THINK SHE IS A BOY!!!! WTAF??!!!

We got a big heavy envelope for KGS offer...
big envelope but oh so light for Putney waiting list...
What will Friday bring? thumps on the doormat or just whispers as 3 slim envelopes float down....
