I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

somelikeithott - do you think the questions get harder for those considering scholarships??
I heard simple maths q's so hoping for the same!!
Have heard of someone who was told DS had done well in exam asked whether no financial assistance would sway their decision and told that DS is a credible candidate. Sounds positive to me!

burntoutdad · 25/01/2013 13:08

Kylep - by CH do you mean cumnor house? My DS at state school and some of the subjects tested are just being covered now. I saw teacher a while back to discuss results of school assessment, he had done well she said 'but there were a couple of questions he did not get - mind you we have not covered these in class yet!'Shock. How can you test a child with work they haven't covered, unbelievable. I heard that they also take the difference in state/independent school education into account when considering the exam answers (unlike the grammars)

Trashpack · 25/01/2013 13:23

Thanks rugratref, nothing from postie today. But thanks for thinking of myself and Fatal. Here's hoping Fatal hears some good news.
Great news for Goldfishmum, good luck at the interview!

burntoutdad · 25/01/2013 13:40

Trashpack - Have you called admissions again to check if letters still going out?

Trashpack · 25/01/2013 14:08

Hi burntoutdad, just called them quickly and was told letters are still going out, another batch went out today and they are interviewing all next week. Before I phoned them, I had to dial 141 (to hide my identity) because I've phoned so many times, they'll realise the truth....I'm a crazy, obsessed mum!! [bwink] (Scottish dh!)
I really hope 141 still works! Oops.

Kylep · 25/01/2013 15:28

I think they do consider some boys haven't covered everything, There has been a few maths questions boys haven't been able to answer and they just said they haven't covered it instead of trying to guess and by ch I mean cumnor house

Kylep · 25/01/2013 15:30

Fingers crossed for you trashpack

FatalFlowerGarden · 25/01/2013 16:40

Trashpack you are making me laugh, wish I had the guts to phone at all! LOADS of luck, hope you get something in the post...

Trashpack · 25/01/2013 16:56

Thanks Kylep, got everything crossed!
Fatal, how you doing? Haha, glad I made you laugh-we have to laugh about it...or else we'd be crying!! I'm definitely having large glass of Wine tonight.

Shaded · 25/01/2013 17:27

Fatal and Trashpack signing in just to say am rooting for both of you and wishing you strength as you wait for news.

It is my turn next week as CLSB send out letters on Thursday and following this thread has given me a taste for the rollercoaster ride that am in for.

Inneedofwine · 25/01/2013 18:38

Congrats Goldfish678mum - I've just had a call from Trinity myself! Hang on in there Fatal Trashback and anyone else still waiting. Think I might just hit the Wine now before I start worrying about the interview and whether DS will be able to speak in more than a whisper and not give one word answers Hmm.

FatalFlowerGarden · 25/01/2013 18:49

Congrats goldfishmum btw!

Well, home to an empty postbox once again. Ho hum Wine Wine Wine

Trashpack · 25/01/2013 18:55

Thanks shaded and good luck for when the letters come out! I saw CLBS on that tv programme about St Paul's...what a fabulous place to go to school.

Inneedofwine, fantastic news! Good luck to you and your ds, you must be delighted! Enjoy your wine as you celebrate tonight!

stresscity · 25/01/2013 19:00

Hope you here something tomorrow folks.

stresscity · 25/01/2013 19:11

Bedgers, can you clarify your last post. Did your ds sit T or did your friends ds sit T somewhere else ie not within the school.

stresscity · 25/01/2013 19:45

Forgot to say congrats to goldfishmum-great news! Ours is Tuesday so will let you know how it goes.

Bedgers · 25/01/2013 19:51

Stresscity, my DS didnt sit T exam as I thought it too academic/music/drama focussed for my DS who doesnt excel in those areas! My friend's DS sat the T exam and got a rejection letter last week.
No letter or call from W for us.

Trashpack · 25/01/2013 20:21

Thanks stresscity and good luck to you and your ds for Tuesday!

Will be thinking of everyone who has interviews/letters this coming week and sending virtual best wishes.

Somelikeithott · 25/01/2013 21:35

Fatalflower & trashpack another one rooting for you here!!! Everything is still firmly crossed.

Burntoutdad, I'm not sure about questions being more difficult for those in scholarship group, was just trying to look for logic in the process.

It goes along with W ethos, taking into consideration wether DSs come from state or independent sector. I was also impressed that where possible the boys assigned to DSs to take them to interview rooms and chat with them/ keep them occupied, while parents are interviewed, will have come from same school as DSs. Shows they've put a lot of thought into it and not just 'processing' the boys.

xNovx · 25/01/2013 21:38

Received a call from T today confirming interview for Wednesday next week! (smile)

kimalima · 25/01/2013 22:13

Thinking of all those still waiting... Fingers crossed!
On another note I am having a different T related stress - a massive van has parked across my drive (has been for there for the past couple of hours), my wee car is blocked in. What if it stays there... I need to get to T in the morning. Gosh I sound ridiculous!!! Blush Blush

Somelikeithott · 26/01/2013 08:59

Good morning all!

Kimalima, hope you made it out okay..... All the best to your DS & to everyone one else that has interviews today.

Hope today brings more good news.

NotADragonOfSoup · 26/01/2013 09:04

kimalima, I'm sure you got out OK but the answer was : hire a monster truck and drive over the inconsiderate f*er! No judge would convict you Wink

FatalFlowerGarden · 26/01/2013 10:10

Best of luck today kima!

Well, the postie has been and gone. I think we can safely throw in the towel now! Thanks so much to everyone who has been SO supportive; this has been a lovely thread. I hope all your dses get places Grin

It just wasn't ds's time this year, I guess. It's a shame but I do firmly believe that they end up where they're meant to be so... I'm not sure yet if I'm going to put us through this all again next year - I knew that we were only ever going to be a long shot anyway (bursary etc), but who knows?

Well done everyone, but I think we'll be bowing out now for a bit!

hardboiled · 26/01/2013 10:49

Gosh I have been away from this because of work and now I see lots of people are still getting good news! Congrats to all! I feel for everyone working in admissions at any school this time of the year...

Fatal, the good thing about 10+ is you have another year in which your DS will grow and mature a lot - cause they really do - and he may be be super ready to try again...So please don't give up!
