SQA results 2025

Starting a results thread early, and the last one I'll do as DD has now left school!

DD has an unconditional offer for uni so these grades don't make a difference but they still matter to us, especially after the C in History last year when she was on track for an A (bastard SQA). So hoping for a good grade for AH History.

She's also doing 2 other Highers, one of them we had to complain about the teachers (long process involving GTCS, LA and SQA, all upheld), so again really hoping the grade gives a right twos-up to that teacher.

Outwardly she doesn't seem to be stressing - more worried about passing her driving test than passing her exams, probably cause of the UC offer. But I know if she passes the subject with the godawful teacher she'll be emotional.

Hows everyone else's kids doing?

Huge relief here. Nat 5 - 7 As and B in application of maths (that she was made to do with no formal teaching)

Heartofmetal · 05/08/2025 08:54

My DD is in America and therefore won’t get the text 😫 Will she get an email or do we need to wait for the postie?

She’s just finished S6 and has a conditional uni offer…🙏

I’m guessing medicine given you wrote UCAT instead of UCAS - another exam on your mind!

Congratulations!

Yes! medicine and you're absolutely correct I should have put UCAS and not UCAT.
He's been studying all of the summer holidays for that one as well, it does feel relentless!

Did anyone else have an issue with Higher English?

we’re two grades lower than predicted here…. And just don’t understand it…..

DS was expecting an A, he got a B. I wonder if he might want to appeal.

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 08:57

@BirdyBedtimeDD got A at Nat5 and predicted A at higher. Currently sobbing over a C grade and with no clue what’s happened.

Apparently UCAS is down until 9am but then it'll show updated offers based on results. So maybe she'll get a sense from that, if she can log in?

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 08:57

@Itawapuddytatthey won’t appeal. Just ask for a remark if it’s borderline.

Oh no - hopefully she'll be close enough to appeal. I was fully prepared for sobbing today so feel for her (and you).

BirdyBedtime · 05/08/2025 09:01

And by appeal I mean remark obvs

Hopefully you will get to see the grade boundaries and then be able to ask for a remark. That feels like a big swing in grades which she clearly wasn't expecting.

I hope she's ok.

My child somehow didn’t sign up for text and email so it’s a long wait for the postie here!

The SQA do not remark.
If you appeal, they simply go back to your script and and ensure the marks have been added up/allocated correctly but always worth a check.

DS has done well - ABBBC. Getting a B in Higher Maths was a miracle (thank the lord for our fantastic tutor as he failed the prelim).

He's disappointed in his C though which was in Graphic Comms which he has been an A for all through the year. Will need to wait for the post to see the percentage but we'll probably stick in an appeal for that one.

Not quite enough for the unconditional he wanted as he needed an A in either chemistry or maths but means if he does ok in his AH Chemistry he'll be in. So overall a good morning

Well done to everyone and hope the disappointed DCs can get the support they need to find the right path for them.

I didn’t think you got told the percentage

ThatsNotMyTeen · 05/08/2025 09:17

ABC at higher here! Absolutely delighted

Willowback · 05/08/2025 09:18

DD did well AAAABBC at NAT 5 she's most proud of her C for Maths Apps she failed her prelim miserably so she worked really hard for it. And she's delighted that she does need to set foot in another maths class again!

The school know the percentages.

stuckasachildagain · 05/08/2025 09:25

DD didn’t sign up for texts/emails as wanted to open envelope (Highers). Came downstairs this morning and I commented Oh you’re up early! Yes she replies UCAS just sent me a congratulations email! She got into uni she wanted but still doesn’t know her actual grade results 🤣. So proud and happy for her

bluebellsandspring · 05/08/2025 09:27

Still not received the text/email from SQA, but received e mail from UCAS and university to say DC has met conditional offer. Very relieved and delighted.

We have "appealed" a couple of times over the last few years, with a 50% success rate in getting grades pushed up. Someone else will have the statistics, but I think that the chances of being downgraded are very low. I don't know exactly what it is they look at, but I think it is more than just checking the marks were added up correctly, although I don't know what else is taken into account.

When you said ‘wait for the post’ made me think they were on the certificate.
