SQA results 2025

Starting a results thread early, and the last one I'll do as DD has now left school!

DD has an unconditional offer for uni so these grades don't make a difference but they still matter to us, especially after the C in History last year when she was on track for an A (bastard SQA). So hoping for a good grade for AH History.

She's also doing 2 other Highers, one of them we had to complain about the teachers (long process involving GTCS, LA and SQA, all upheld), so again really hoping the grade gives a right twos-up to that teacher.

Outwardly she doesn't seem to be stressing - more worried about passing her driving test than passing her exams, probably cause of the UC offer. But I know if she passes the subject with the godawful teacher she'll be emotional.

Hows everyone else's kids doing?

Well, that was a turn up for the books today!

DS (ASN) was sitting 3 x Nat 5s (rest Nat 4s). After scraping Ds in his prelims, and leaving all of his actual exams an hour early due to anxiety/being unable to sit for that long - he came away with ABB. Never in my WILDEST dreams did I expect that. We are thrilled!

That’s brilliant! Well done. My son has ASD as well and so much of his education has been an absolute car crash and I’ve cried so many tears. To think he’s sitting here tonight with 3 highers (including an A - which he never managed at N5!) is mind boggling. The resilience these kids develop to keep showing up and plugging away is incredible. Celebrate well x

@LowlandLassiesame! Predicted A, got a C 🤷🏼♀️

Same here, predicted A got C

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 20:33

@Theonlyoneiknowamazing! Am thrilled for you both!

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 20:34

@JamesGetInthats three of us on this thread alone - what is going on?!

8misskitty8 · 05/08/2025 20:49

DD wanted to know her percentages as she is thinking about appealing the D grade (it’s higher art )
The sqa coordinator who is the deputy at the school said she only knows the bands and she is to contact each individual teacher as they ‘May’ know the percentages. But they are not available until Wednesday next week ! Which is after the priority appeal deadline.
Don’t understand why the sqa can’t release this information to pupils when they get their results .

FFS this is not what is needed on the results thread. Fucking grow up.

Is saying ‘FFS’ and ‘Fucking’ appropriate on this thread? Do you have double-standards?

FNDandme · 05/08/2025 20:53

@Praying4Peace agree 100% parental pressure is insane in the RW too. I had a parent have a stand up declaration with me about her DS going to uni and that was that. Not interested at all in hearing the different routes / backup plans to ensure he wasn’t scrabbling around and having potential feelings of guilt and shame as he hadn’t met his mothers rhetoric of him going to uni (not a teacher btw but work closely with YP making their choices and plans!)

The teachers have previously had access to actual percentages on the day - I know because DS asked for some of his in '23 and '24. He's not as bothered this year though, and hasn't asked (yet).

Love stories like this. Beating the odds when kids already have their struggles as is. You must be very proud 👏 ❤️

My ds is happy with his results Highers AAAB

He felt sure he would get and A for English and B for Maths but it is B for English and A for maths.

Slightly disappointed with the B for English but overall he is very happy.

Surely it’s got to be worth a go? I mean the chances of her ending up with a no award must be vanishingly small

Why did you think it was your place to correct her?

Why not? 🤷🏻♀️

SnaccidentsHappen · 05/08/2025 21:14

Happy with results here but I have a question - if they failed one of the exams would that show as no award on the certificate or just not be on it at all. When I say my standard grades I failed history but it was still on my certificate.

my DS sat N5 geography but it isn’t showing on his certificate at all and we are wondering if it’s missing or he has failed it?

Why have you answered a question with a question? Can you not provide a proper answer?

I understood it would still be on the certificate. This sounds odd?

DC did well today but a real mixed set of results from her group of friends and relatives. Particular surprising was a relative result in Higher English. Strong results all year and then a lower result today. No indication after the exam either.

So I was interested in your post @ChocoChocoLatte

Quite a few of her friends are the same. We’ve spoken to school and she was 3 marks short for a B, so they’ll request a remark. In the meantime she’s arranged to redo next year as it’s always been one of her strongest subjects. However it will be with a different teacher as there was a clash with the teacher she had this year, which has probably impacted her grade. Think she’s happier now that she has a plan.

Sending your dd a hug.

Have you read the covering letter, any results E onwards should be noted there.

She’s pissed at the D as last year she was a couple of marks of an A in national 5.
Her teacher does marking for higher (obviously not her own school) and she had really liked her folio 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve seen a few photos of it and I know I’m biased but what I’ve seen looked good.

Gardeningisrubbish · 05/08/2025 22:10

My child got their Nat 5 today and the school have already emailed them all of the percentages they got for all subjects by midday. That’s a private school though and they have their shit together more than either of the state schools their siblings went to. The schools have the grades, it’s just whether they have the admin staff in the office to process it.

gracielooloo · 05/08/2025 22:11

Very happy here, 5 A’s at Higher for DD1 and a mix of A’s and B’s at Nat 5 for DD2.
The best part is a B for DD2 for Maths, no more Maths ever!😆🍾

thetooththewholetooth · 05/08/2025 22:34

Thrilled with DD's results, 6 As and a C in Nat 5s. Her Gran was v ill in lead up to exams and died just before her first one. Funeral took place during exams. She wasn't predicted to do so well. Chuffed for her.

I’ll help clarify that: they don’t have the admin staff in to send every pupil every single component grade on the day of the results. And teachers are still on holiday. I’m glad the private school ‘has its shit together’ though. I wonder what the difference is.

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 23:07

@LowlandLassiewe’ve had that exact chat but minus speaking to the staff yet. Her school will only deal with priority remarking just now and she wasn’t ready to discuss it today. She’s now asked tonight if I can phone them tomorrow - I’ve agreed to email. Strongest subject here too.

All rather bizarre indeed.

hugs all round x

Why can’t it be on the SQA’s email?
