SQA results 2025

Starting a results thread early, and the last one I'll do as DD has now left school!

DD has an unconditional offer for uni so these grades don't make a difference but they still matter to us, especially after the C in History last year when she was on track for an A (bastard SQA). So hoping for a good grade for AH History.

She's also doing 2 other Highers, one of them we had to complain about the teachers (long process involving GTCS, LA and SQA, all upheld), so again really hoping the grade gives a right twos-up to that teacher.

Outwardly she doesn't seem to be stressing - more worried about passing her driving test than passing her exams, probably cause of the UC offer. But I know if she passes the subject with the godawful teacher she'll be emotional.

Hows everyone else's kids doing?

Great day here. A for business higher, B for history higher and B for AH drama. She was worried she’d get all Cs (& therefore not get into uni). She’s dyslexic so struggles at school—so pleased. Onwards to university!

Congrats to your DS, That’s still a good mix of results.

@8misskitty8my DC got the exact same results and is stressing because all the courses they are interested in are asking for only As and Bs. They have another year to hopefully get more to add to this but they’re upset. Are they right to be? I wish I could reassure but don’t know enough about it just now😳

Brightlycolouredbeetle · 05/08/2025 14:00

DC2 did phenomenally. We are soooo proud. BBCCCC at Nat 5! It is an absolutely amazing achievement for him and he worked so hard for it.

Look at the courses they are interested in and check who they need in one sitting, as long as they have that then they can move on and focus on 6th year.

There are always college routes - many colleges offer HNC/HND with articulated routes into universities. I have had 3 DC go through stress post 5th year result day, all of them had a mixed set of results, all ended in a good place. It's often useful to look at less popular courses that will get you into a faculty!

What course are they interested in, others may be able to offer tips for those courses.

Issy422 · 05/08/2025 14:06

Congratulations to everyone who's DC got what they needed today and I hope those with disappointed DC are able to find a new path for them.

Nat 5s here - 4 As, 3 Bs and a C.

Hi thank you. They will require to resit one of them so not sure what that will mean.

PP has used a particular phrasing for emphasis - why on earth are you trying to correct her?

Because the grammar was incorrect.

Why did you think it was your place to correct her?

dubz · 05/08/2025 14:33

Just to add some more results to the mix. Various relatives (I have a large family) have also got their results.
At higher, AAABB, BBCC, and ACCC
At Nat5 ABBBBC, and BCCD plus Nat4s.

GleisZwei · 05/08/2025 14:39

Well done everyone!
DS really happy with his results - which came by text at just after 0815 - especially the A in Advanced Higher Art! He's not 100% sure his plans, currently working, but at least now has 8 Nat5s, 6 Highers and 1 Adv. Higher, over a broad range of subjects and all bar 1 at A or B, after finishing S6. Hopefully that will open some doors for him. Proud mama.

Did anyone else have an issue with Higher English?

we’re two grades lower than predicted here…. And just don’t understand it…..

I’ve heard of a few who haven’t hit their predictions in English.

I think that's quite common most years tbh. It doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with the exam or the marking though.

MimiSouris · 05/08/2025 16:44

My son was really hopeful about his H Geography. He felt the exam went really well. He was shocked when he got a B this morning. He emailed his teacher and she gave him his component marks. 72% for paper 1. 90% for paper 2 and 30% for his project. He doesn't understand how he could have got 10/30 for the assignment, as it was checked by teachers as he prepared. He got 66% overall. The teacher says they can only see the marks and not the script. I know he could ask for a remark, but I am worried about his grade going down. Does anyone have any advice for me please?

KassandraOfSparta · 05/08/2025 16:53

We had similarly odd marks for DS's Nat 5 computing, he did the paper digitally and although nobody admitted responsibility, some of his script went missing between school and the SQA. He had his grade increased - but this was under the old appeals system. I would ask huis teacher for guidance.

I think it would be unlikely to go down, if he got 66%, that’s going to be at least a mid/high B. I think it’s worth an appeal in case his marks weren’t added up for his project properly, or part of it wasn’t marked?

HumbleKatey · 05/08/2025 17:58

Back in my day it was much tougher to achieve a pass in maths, and consequently we older generation are numerically far more proficient. If I recall correctly only 65% passed, and 50% failed.

HumbleKatey · 05/08/2025 18:06

ladyamy42069 · 05/08/2025 14:14

Because the grammar was incorrect.

You should never start as sentence with ‘Because’.

KassandraOfSparta · 05/08/2025 18:17

FFS this is not what is needed on the results thread. Fucking grow up.

DarkAngel23 · 05/08/2025 18:41

DS finally home to open his results- AABC. Also B for Nat 5 maths apps so thats maths done and dusted. Absolutely thrilled for him 😁

Overall he’s happy, A in geography, which is his best subject. He’s a little disappointed with his C in English, but I think that was what he was predicted anyway.

Very proud of my son and his achievements. He struggled so much with school during the covid period so to achieve what he has is just amazing.

Well done to all DC today, its a stressful time for them and we should be very proud of them regardless of results.

I passed Higher Maths in the 90's, my sister in the late 80's, but there were absolutely loads of folk of my generation who struggled with both Maths and Arithmetic! I actually found Uni level Maths quite challenging but had to do it as part of my degree (thankfully mostly not maths).

Seriously take it and hit the ground running. Your DS has still done incredible well with his grade. It's a pass and a good pass at that!!👏

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 19:36

@LowlandLassiesame! Predicted A, got a C 🤷🏼♀️

ChocoChocoLatte · 05/08/2025 19:39

@ThierryHwasthebest@BirdyBedtimethank you. Have spent the day installing the virtues of having 4 highers!

Hopefully she’ll get there & it sinks in soon.

Theonlyoneiknow · 05/08/2025 20:02

Well, that was a turn up for the books today!

DS (ASN) was sitting 3 x Nat 5s (rest Nat 4s). After scraping Ds in his prelims, and leaving all of his actual exams an hour early due to anxiety/being unable to sit for that long - he came away with ABB. Never in my WILDEST dreams did I expect that. We are thrilled!

Amazing for your DS. It’s hard for anyone sitting exams but for a child with ASN it’s maybe even more so for different reasons. Both my girls have asn and exams were not the greatest thing for them to experience.
