I'm actually speechless over this one. Did the last 10 years of hatred and bile aimed at yoons, the banners saying "Tory scum out" pass Neil by?!?! 🙈

The hypocrisy is astonishing. When did anyone in the SNP ever stand up for a convent they disagreed with. They don't even stand up for their own?!?! Where was their support for Joanna Cherry?!?!

Not on archive yet. If someone could archive a link that would be helpful.

Haven't read the article yet, but I've never met an indy/snp supporter who hasn't got a massive chip on their shoulder and isn't always feeling that they have been done a major injustice to. It pervades everywhere in their life, work, relationships, hobbies etc. Nothing is ever fair 🤷

Eastcoastie · 07/05/2024 12:48

Couldn't agree more. The outgoing first minister called for a tory free Scotland! They hate anyone who doesnt bow down to the cult. The tide is finally moving and they don't like it.

I can't even begin to imagine how the media and the SNP would be reporting it had Boris Johnstone's home had a police camp set up in his front garden whilst being under investigation for serious crime.

Jeezitneverends · 07/05/2024 12:50

A Tory free Scotland…do they forget that they were known as the tartan tortes as they sided with them in the past? Fortunately some of us have long memories rather than selective ones like theirs

Timetodownsize · 07/05/2024 13:25

Interestingly I cant read the article but can see the comments - and most of those are entirely unsympathetic to the SNP

The SNP want independence. Independence will systematically destroy this country. They don’t care.

Without the Barnett formula the Scottish budget would be cut by 15% overnight.

Borrowing no costs of an independent Scotland would be much higher than currently, and the BofE has never defaulted in its borrowing and can borrow at a cheaper rate because of this.

To get in the EU they would have to set up a hard border between Scotland and rUK, goods checked, the lot. This would destroy trade with Scotland’s biggest trading nation.

Prior to joining the EU Scotland would have to have its own currency. Scottish £ has been estimated to drop in value by 20% overnight. Imagine being paid in Scottish £ but your mortgage is in GBP (which everyone’s would be. No lender would lend in Scottish £).

The SNP hide these facts with a thin veneer of lies that their bigoted followers believe. The thing that gets to me is that it’s their followers who will suffer most. 15% cut in their benefits overnight won’t go down well. If the SNP are loathed it’s for good reason. It’s their own making.

Waitwhat23 · 07/05/2024 14:38

Every desperate shit stain of an article I see like this, the more I look forward to the SNP getting absolutely gubbed in the next election.

It's going to be fricking glorious.

TobyEsterhase · 07/05/2024 19:05

The sad fact is that a large proportion of Scottish population have attitudes of resentment, victimhood, tribalism, intolerance and self righteousness.

SNP are a symptom of this bigger problem.

They really need to grow up and get over themselves. It’s like having your country run by a bunch of stroppy teenagers. Fucking embarrassing.

celticnations · 02/05/2025 04:00

SNP way ahead in polls now - March 2025.

Westminster Labour have damaged Sarwar. The Scots are it seems naturally more left leaning than the English so seeming to hit pensioners (heating allowance) & the rise of Reform (rekindles Brexit) ain't popular.

SnoozingFox · 02/05/2025 09:39

Still a long way to go to the next Holyrood elections. Anyone who thinks the SNP are the answer is deluded.

Conxis · 02/05/2025 10:14

Wait until all the costs of defending the SNP’s illegal policies are declared. I doubt very much Fife and Supreme Court will be the only ones. There could well be many more now.
This is going to cost the tax paying public a fortune.
Once the Scottish public see how much of our money has been pissed away in court cases which should have been spent on public services I doubt very much SNP will ahead in the polls!

Monstersunderthesea · 02/05/2025 15:18

Can anyone point to one area in Scottish public life the SNP and their ludicrous policies haven’t burned to the ground? The childish idiots need to step aside and let grown ups take over. The SNP voting to keep Maggie Chapman on the equalities committee was this week’s example of thoroughly shameful, idiotic behaviour. It’s weekly though, weekly.

Lovelysummerdays · 02/05/2025 15:28

Possibly describing the concerned women of Scotland as akin to facists and bigoted wasn’t a smart move.

I don’t think people want these kind of politics. The idea of the Scottish parliament was to emulate the Scandinavians with their cooperation and proportional representation rather than insulting each other over a length of green baize.

A lot of the insults are online now so maybe that is progress?

I can't wait.
So sick of all that "If you vote No you're a disgrace to your country" etc shit we had to put up with.
I can't wait for them to implode.

I think they are going to succeed. They pay massively more out in benefits than elsewhere in the UK (that’s why our services are so dire) and that gets people on benefits out voting for them. It’s like Groundhog Day.

SnoozingFox · 02/05/2025 17:43

I think we are also fortunate to have the complex PR system at Holyrood. So less of the scaremongering that if you vote Labour/Lib Dem/Independent you are letting Reform in. Or whatever.

IHeartHalloumi · 02/05/2025 20:33

Maggie Chapman still being in office is a disgrace. Scotland is currently a one party state - I honestly think we'd be better off without devolution.

User450877 · 02/05/2025 21:53

it is a worry - bbc article on what the reform vote share will be for Scotland, the labour result in England is pretty bad…I wonder whether Scottish labour will be able to turn anything around.

Monstersunderthesea · 03/05/2025 00:05

I really do think Reform would be better than the SNP, and Reform look as mental (if not more so) as Trump, Musk etc.

BonnieBairn · 03/05/2025 00:58

I voted for independence and would still like that for Scotland. The UK is too different now for all the countries to treated the same. I have never voted SNP and did vote green untill 2015. I'm politically homeless these days & the current SNP have trashed any chance of independence. They, like the greens, have spent so much time on gender woo pish rather than the fundamental basis of their party's policies. My main hope for an independent scotland is that the SNP would cease to exist as they'd have reached their manifesto pledge. They'd need to regroup at least. I can't quite believe that a group whose main manifesto pledge was for Scottish independence has manged to fuck that idea, for at least a generation.

celticnations · 03/05/2025 17:09

I'm voting SNP/SNP.

Despite their many failings I want ultimately to be clear of the political chaos in England eg Brexit; & the rise of ERG & Reform.

I think that Reform will split the pro-union vote like in NI, unless there is a concerted & highly coordinated strategy of tactical voting.

But will Reform step aside to faciliate Con or Labour candidates? I suspect not.

The UK political structure has had it's time. As the largest nation England will always call the shots. Can't live with that

RaraRachael · 03/05/2025 19:07

I've never wanted Independence and remember my parents absolute hatred of the SNP.
I hate them because I live near a road that is desperately needing to be dualled, but when they got into bed with the Greens they put a stop to it, so every day there is a serious accident (often fatal).

They promised infant classes of 18 but by the time I retired I had 29 in my class.

Their whole raison d'etre was independence. They didn't get it, lied about "Once in a generation" so it's time for them to disband as they've served their purpose.

celticnations · 04/05/2025 16:19

Re "once in a generation".

The GFA mandates this as 7 years.

Consider those in their 20s who were just say months too young to vote. When will it be their turn to have a say?
